  1. Agreed. Gotta be able to put the ball in play and allow things (sac flies, errors, moving runners over, scoring on groundouts) to happen. Strikeouts can give you nothing positive.
  2. 5 ER's in 6 innings isn't necessarily the recipe for a .500 season. Teams have to find a way to win some of the games where the starter doesn't have his A stuff, but he is still able to give you 6 semi-solid innings with a chance to win a game 6-5. Teams just don't have #5 pitchers that can toss a gem consistently.
  3. I dunno that it called for it in that situation. You pinch hit Hall for Koskie and they bring in Williamson. Williamson throws 3 of those sliders in the dirt and Hall goes down on 3 pitches. I liked Koskie to get on base against Eyre better than Hall to get on against Williamson. (especially with Billy's struggles as a pinch-hitter.) Plus..I'd prefer to save Hall for a situation where he is the tying run (granted it might never get to that point).
  4. While I would normally agree with you, with Rickie Weeks as the runner and a contact hitter up..I didn't have a problem with the hit and run. Plus he had the base stolen easily. It's not Yost's fault he slid past it.
  5. Come on Carlos and Prince and Koskie..let's put a REAL crooked number up there. like a 7 spot. **********UGH!! DP
  6. Bush gettin things started. Let's get Rickie and/or JJ on and let the big boys bop. Edit: Right on cue Rickie!!
  7. Amen. Let's win a slugfest. 10-8 anyone?
  8. That is exactly what I am expecting too. I guess if Gross plays again we will know that Brady is really in the doghouse (not that I would be too upset to say Gabe in there).
  9. Anyone wanna venture a guess as to today's lineup?? Is it back to the Fielder, Weeks, Hardy, Koskie Lee, Clark, Jenkins Miller Who leads off? Weeks? Just curious what everyone thinks.
  10. I hope nobody objects to starting tomorrow's IGT now. With it being a day game, and the day off today, it just seems appropriate. I really hope the Crew can continue playing well at Wrigley and gain some ground in the standings. Interesting tidbit...... Of the Brewers losses......3 have come to the Reds, 2 to the Astros, and 2 to the Cardinals. That is 7 losses against the NL Central. The Brewers are 4-2 against the NL East and 2-1 against the NL West.
  11. I'd be shocked if he is. I have him in Fantasy and am prepared to put him on my bench. I just don't think Weeks or Hardy need a day off and I do like Koskie in there against Righties. I would not have a problem with Hall in CF, but Clark actually had some good at-bats yesterday. If Hall is in the lineup I would vote for it to look like this. Weeks Hardy Jenkins Lee Koskie Hall Fielder Miller
  12. Oh really Clancy? Cuz it looks to me like we just roughed up Oswalt (like I thought we would) to the tune of 6 ER's in 6+ innings. To say this game was over and look ahead to tomorrow when it was 2-2 in the 2nd was borderline ridiculous. Obviously, I didn't anticipate Davis imploding to give up 9 ER's, but I felt very confident we would touch up Oswalt for at least 4 or 5.
  13. Watching Doug Davis pitch is absolutely painful tonight. ouch.
  14. Wow. Just wow. It's the 2nd freakin' inning. If the game was tied 0-0 instead of 2-2 would you already be conceding victory?? The pessimism on this board makes me sick!!!!!
  15. If Doug Davis doesn't get a win tonight (even if it's 3-2 for a final) I don't want anyone complaining about his "hard luck." You get staked to a 2-0 lead and you cant even make it last for a batter.
  16. Totally agree. Only thing that would let Brady off the hook and place blame on the staff is if they had the "go on contact on the ground" rule on. Where no matter what..if the ball is on the ground you go. Sometimes teams use this when they think it will be hard to scrap out runs.
  17. Amen. This is a perfect example of why Strikeouts absolutely suck. Putting the ball in play is 100% better than striking out and I don't know what it will take to convince people of that. With a strikeout by Jenks and Lee it's 0-0. The Error and the double play made it 2-0.
  18. Apparently you have the same instincts as Brady. I thought it had a better chance of leaving the yard than being caught. You can't look at the fielder..you gotta look at the ball. That ball had no chance at being caught right off the bat.
  19. Well Mr. Davis....you want a win? Go earn it. Playing from in front tonight boys.... How about 5 or 6 right off the bat here??? No excuse to only get 1.
  20. 99.9% of the leadoff hitters in the league.....would score on a booming double off the wall misplayed by the leftfielder...... Brady's lack of: 1. Speed 2. Instincts Just cost the crew a run.
  21. Having Cirillo bunt Clark to 2nd in a 3-3 game with nobody out was such an easy decision, you'd have to be a completely clueless manager to let him swing away. You move Clark to 2nd and hope Jenkins or Lee can win it with a single. I would have done the same thing, including making him get it down after he had 2 strikes on him. And if I had it to do over. I'd do it 100 times out of 100.
  22. I think Kolb mows em down 1-2-3. We score 2 in the 11th and it's T-Bow time.
  23. I had a bad feeling BEFORE I saw the lineups, but I think with Cirillo and Koskie and Hall in there we can really make Suppan throw a lot of pitches, work the count, and push some runs across the board. It will be important for Prince to stay patient with all that offspeed junk. DD needs to toss a gem. I say Brewers head to New York with a 5-2 win today.
