  1. I think Miller is right. Bonds has had to go through a lot too. He has been made the scapegoat for every person that ever took steroids. He has to endure death threats all the time. He is probably the greatest hitter of all time, but yet the least liked baseball player of all time. Personally, I'm a little biased as he is my favorite non-brewer to ever play. I've loved him since he was on the Pirates and can't think of a baseball player in my lifetime I'd rather watch hit. He's absolutely amazing.
  2. Thats just silly. If you don't like him. Fine. But to not watch the game if he's playing is really strange? Just go to the kitchen and get a drink when he bats? Or take a pee when he bats? Why would you not watch the whole game because you don't like one player?? It's not like basketball or football where they are contstantly on the field (court).
  3. Oh yea..i misread it. Amen, brother. 2007=the year of Ben Sheets.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. I actually thought about that, but then couldn't remember the last time I had noticed them so I didn't know. You are probably right.
  5. Me too. Peter Gammons just said that it's because of a few reasons. 1. With the day game yesterday and a night game tomorrow, he will end up getting over 48 hours off. 2. Hamels is one of the toughest lefties the Giants will face so it was a good day to sit him anyway. Luckily, I have the MLB package on direcTV so I see Barry every night. There's nothing better to go to sleep to than Barry Bonds hitting a baseball. The worst is after his at-bat in the 3rd or 4th inning (usually around 10:30) waiting up to see one more at-bat by him (usually around 11:30). My wife thinks i'm crazy. haha
  6. I've been meaning to mention this for a few days...but 1. I felt bad questioning or suggesting ANYTHING on those amazing IGT Intros. 2. I thought maybe it was just my computer. Either way...with or without standings...those posts are amazing!!
  7. He already had one. I took the stats from Santana's BEST season (which ironically was also 2004). It was his best season in terms of starts, K's, ERA, and W/L Record. 2004: 34 starts: 5 Complete Games. 237 innings. 264 strikeouts. 32 walks. 2.70 ERA. 2004: 34 starts: 1 complete game. 228 innings. 265 strikeouts. 54 walks. 2.61 ERA. One of those lines is Sheets (12-14) and the other is Santana (20-6). The first one is Sheets (More innings, complete games, 1 less K, 22 fewer walks, almost identical ERA). He was 12-14. That's basically the point of this entire conversation. Ben Sheets is one of the greatest pitchers in the league statistically. It's not his fault that for whatever crazy reason the bullpen blows a lot of his leadds and the offense is AWOL in a lot of his starts.
  8. Oh yea. He looked gassed. Absolutely gasping for air. Breathing heavily. It's amazing he was even able to throw the ball at all. He'd thrown 140 pitches and had baserunners on base all night. He had control problems all night. He really labored through 6 innings. It was so aparrent to everyone that he was gassed. It's unfortunate that Yost is so stupid and didn't notice like the rest of us. We all should be managers. Managers by committee. Each member of BF.net take an inning for the rest of the year. Obviously we would be better for it. We couldn't be much worse. OK I'm done....but in all seriousness...Bush was not gassed. He didn't look gassed. He didnt pitch like he was gassed. He had thrown 78 pitches through 6 2-hit innings. He gave up a double and a broken bat fist job to deep first/shallow right. He bounced back with great stuff to the next 2 hitters and one one pitch away from turning it over to TBow and CoCo. To say he was "gassed" as though it was obvious to everyone is just silly.
  9. Are you serious!? Wow! He was pitching a 2 hitter in the 7th inning. He gave up a double and then a broken-bat jam job that bloomed into deep first-base/shallow right field. Then he showed he still had great stuff in getting the next 2 hitters. He was one strike away from getting out of the 7th and turning it over to TBow and CoCo and he made a mistake to Bautista. Big deal. It happens. Did you suggest after the 3rd hit of the game that Yost turns to Spurling? You have got to be flippin joking.
  10. I really like all those 6.00+ ERA's in the Pirates bullpen (especially in a 4 game series). If we can get to Gorzelanny early today and force a short outing it could pay big dividends for the rest of the series looking at that bullpen.
  11. I know. I just came on here to call myself out. But I see you beat me to it. I don't think that Gwynn is an every day player, but I do think he is our best option for a leadoff hitter, if that makes any sense. haha
  12. There's really no need to comment on this because you actually said, you like today's lineup so take everything you said back, but.... The reason Hardy isn't batting 2nd is because he's batting 3rd because Prince is batting 4th with Hall out of the lineup. All in all I have no problems with the Sunday lineup. GO CREW!
  13. Yes. We are. We are trying as hard as we can to lose today. In fact I heard Barnwell was called up to play for Hardy and Aquino came off the DL and will start for Vargas. Give me a break. Gwynn is our best lead-off option every day. Obviously there is no spot for him to play, but on days that he plays he needs to lead-off. He will get on 3 times today. Mark my words. As for Graffanino, if you give Ricky Weeks a day off (which he needs) that means Graffanino and Counsell both need to be in the lineup. You want Counsell batting 2nd? Until Braun is called up, on days that Hardy or Weeks get off (about once a month) you will see Graffanino or Counsell batting 2nd. I'm actually excited to see Hall out of the lineup. It's been a long time coming. Go Crew!
  14. nice peavey...... simply cuz u believe that yost screwed up today (about what I do not know).... you give me a "don't do that again" slap on the wrist because I called the guy who basically said ned yost tanks games an idiot. just doesn't add up buddy.
  15. Ned wants to make sure we lose this I guess.......... yes that's it. everything in his power. he won't stop short of seeing the brewers lose today. its idiots like u that piss so many fans off when it comes to ned yost. yes I said idiotic because it is idiotic to say our manager is making sure we lose.
  16. heck of an outing for bush!!!!! woulda been nice to get the shutout, but gotta agree with bringing in coco now that the shutout is gone.
  17. Ueck just said mid 30,000 range today.
  18. I also would love to see Gwynn, Gross and Counell in there instead of Hall, Mench/Hart, and Graffy. We will see. I think getting Gwynn on base in front of JJ, Prince, Jenks, Gross would be huge to getting to Oswalt early.
  19. I don't consider building for september....building for the future. if aquino is even going to be a member of this team...he needs to prove himself in a close game or sed him down. You can't say after the reds game that he's not the guy after a great spring. I would expect him to get one more chance in a very close and late situation before he gets sent down.
  20. While I understand the frustration of fans, it was the right thing to do to give Aquino another shot last night. a great outing last night in April could have done wonders in august or september. yes it didn't work and now he knows he can't count on him in pressure situations. its the same reason garner let Lidge try to work through 8 straight balls. in a 162 game season, sometimes the confidence of a pitcher may cost u a game or 2 in april, but win you 10 in september. I personally go with co-co but understand Ned's thinking.
  21. tickets available tonight? or are they expecting a sellout again?

  23. They were 6-7 last year on Sunday home games. They lost the Friday game to the Cubs. So that makes them 6-8. *edited for typo
  24. Anyone know why Mussina left after 2 innings? The thin Yankees staff might have juts gotten a lot thinner?!
