  1. This will be my last post on the topic. It's dumb. You are going to REALLY REALLY regret going here...but here goes. Zambrano's 16 wins last year: 11-4 11-3 11-2 3-0 6-3 8-6 4-1 9-2 7-2 15-11 9-2 4-2 8-0 7-4 4-0 8-1 That's a total of 7.8 Runs per game on AVERAGE. Sheets' 14 losses in 2004: 3-1 3-2 2-1 2-0 8-3 4-2 7-1 4-0 5-0 3-0 3-1 5-4 4-2 5-2 The Brewers scored 19 runs in his 14 losses. Yes. 19 runs in 14 losses. Including being shut out 4 times. That's an average of 1.35. Not to mention that Sheets won games that year by scores of 1-0, 1-0, 2-0, and 3-1. I went start by start and if the Brewers would have scored the same number of runs as the Cubs did last year in Sheets' 34 starts in 2004, he would have been...drumroll please....... 32-2. Not too shabby.
  2. ahhhh this 9:00 time is killin me..I feel like the lineups should be posted in a little bit, but we still have 4 more hours til lineups. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Go Brewers!!!
  3. I HONESTLY can't believe we have to go over this again and again and again and again..it's like you have a problem comprehending the facts. This is such a waste of my time to type it all out again, but it's such a joke that I'm just going to anyways. 2002: 34 starts; 216 innings, 170 K's, 70 BB's 4.15 ERA 2003: 34 starts; 220 innings; 157 K's, 43 BB's 4.45 ERA 2004: 34 starts; 237 innings, 264 K's, 32 BB's 2.70 ERA 2005; 22 starts (3 CG's); 141 K's, 25 BB's 3.33 ERA After his 22nd start he was injured and did not return until the middle of 2006, after his return in 2006 he posted 2006: 17 starts; 116 K's, 11 B's, 3.82 ERA 2007: 9 starts, 34 K's, 12 BB's, 3.86 ERA His first 2 years were very very very good seasons. His 2004 season was one of the greatest seasons in the history of the sport. In 2005 he was off to a better start..that 3.33 ERA is with a 10 ER/3 inning outing in the start he got hurt in. Because he's one of the Top 3 pitchers in the entire league (Santana, Peavy, Sheets). I don't want anybody else. Those are my 3 guys that I'd want on the mound with 3 games to win. Seems good enough reason to "ga-ga' to me. Thanks for making my point for me. What makes him great is his knee buckling curve ball. Arguably the greatest curveball of all-time. His fastball is just set up by the curve. Talk about the most obvious point ever made on this site. Anybody's fastball is hittable if poorly located and no movement. That's why it's important Sheets gets his curve over and locates his fastball well. It's a good thing that swearing isn't allowed on this site because I'd have dropped F bombs every other word throughout all the fallacies of your post. I don't understand how baseball "fans" can be so ignorant to the obvious facts. To take it a step further; his last 6 starts. 3-0 Record, 36 innings, 11 Runs, 26 K's, 9 BB's, 2.75 ERA Factor in his opening day start....and you have: 4-0 Record, 45 innings, 12 runs, 28K's, 9 BB's, 2.40 So basically he had 1 outing where he struggled and one outing where he wasn't dominant, but still very good. He's had 7 outings where he's been almost unhittable. I believe he was 2-0 on the East Coast Swing...... His other partners in crime were 0-5. I could go on and on and on....but the best proof will be about 11:15 tonight. Go Crew.
  4. Love the lineup!!! I actually like Estrada in the 5 spot. He doesn't strike out much and there's usually guys on base when he gets up. If Jenkins comes up with runners on in the 5th spot he is more likely to leave them there. I would probably play Gross in CF and bat him 7th, but understand the thinking of just sliding Hall down for a bit to see if he can get it going against Righties. If that doesn't work, I would think Gross instead of Hall is the next move. I would contine to play Hall and bat him 4th against Lefties.
  5. This is interesting becasue I totally felt the same way. I didn't have doubts about the team, but I was frustrated. I was afraid what the media was going to do to them. I was worried about the West coast trip. I wasn't really worried about the players or team being worried, but I was more worried about the fans and media. Had they lost today, it would have meant nothing in the big picture of the season, but it did a lot to ease the minds of a lot of fans and media.
  6. Count me in the group that would like to see this lineup.
  7. Here's to a big 10-spot on Tomko. FWIW, Anderson and Schroeder said Rickie said he'll be in the lineup Monday. Like Anderson and Schroeder said, That's Rickie talking....not Ned...but it shouldn't be too far away if he says he's ready. Here's to a great road trip.
  8. I know. That's why it's hard for me to justify it. I've just never seen him as an every day player. I just see too many holes in his swing and approach, especially against the tougher righties. I think he's at his best when he's playing 4 or 5 days a week and getting a couple days a week off against the tougher righties. I'm well aware I'm in the minority on this one. I'm not going to try to fight that battle. Just one man's opinion. I like him. I'm glad he's on the team. I hope he has another 35 Homerun season. I just don't see him ever hitting more than 25 again. I was shocked/stunned lasat year with the kind of year he had and didn't think he'd have another like it. Sorry if that's harsh, but it's just my opinion.
  9. I wasn't referring to any one person...just the idea in general of someone catching the Brewers by the end of May is a silly idea. Would you prefer I say "almost mathematically impossible" instead of "silly". Some people are extremely sensitive around here. I don't mean any ill-will by saying something is silly. I called myself an Idiot in the IGT.
  10. Did we just gain a game on the ENTIRE division? Reds lost to the Indiana Pirates lost (I think) Cubs lost big to the Sox Cardinals lost big to the Tigers Astros lost BIG to the Rangers Anyone that thinks the Brewers will be caught by the end of this month is silly...don't worry. With a 5.5 game lead...the Brewers could lose all 6 on the road trip and a couple to the Braves and would still need the 2nd place team to go 7-1 to catch them. With Suppan, Sheets, and Cappy going against Tomko, Wolf, and Penney...I like the Crew's chance to get a couple in LA.
  11. Dude had one bad outing when he was brought in out of his role with 2 guys already on base. He bounced back the next night and threw very well. He threw very well yesterday. He threw very well today. He threw very well the 20 outings prior to Monday. He had a bad outing, but because of last year, everyone is expecting the same kind of collapse.
  12. I'm glad your not our manager with over-reactions like that to a leadoff walk. Another good outing turned in by Turnbow.
  13. That's a blatant lie. He's been very good his last 3 starts.
  14. Ooops. Posting on my Treo makes me look like an IDIOT!!! haha. Hopefully you got what I meant. And how bout GEOFFFFFFFFF
  15. I hall strikea out with a guy on 3rd and no outs I'm going to puke. but K's don't matter, right? ha
  16. To be honest with you, he never should have been in it in the first place. He's not an every day player. He should be batting 6th or 7th and only playing against certain Righties. I think counting on him to be a major run producer is one of the biggest mistakes the organization has made in the last few years.
  17. Whelp. That was ugly. Thanks for playing. Better luck tomorrow.
  18. Why does looking at those 4 names make me not even want to turn on the TV? I feel like I'm just setting myself up to be pissed off at 4:00. I'd rather just read about the 4-1 loss after.
  19. Normally I would agree, but didn't he start the other night? Wednesday I think? Plus with a late night game tomorrow and a day game today, I could see him trying to get through to Thursdays' off day without giving Estrada a day off. Ned knows we need all the bats in the lineup we can get with Counsannino as TWO seperate entities now.
  20. Totally 100% off-topic and I will take it over to LambeuLeap.net, but I don't think the Packers will suck this year. In fact, if they stay healthy I could see them making the Playoffs.
  21. Sorry for back to back posts, but i'm at the point of the day where I'm really excited for the game. It's so funny how I can go to bed so upset and pissed and not even wanna watch today.....and then I wake up and look at the clock to see how many hours until the lineups are announced. I think I have problems...at least that's what my wife says. How about a lineup of: Gwynn CF Gross RF Hardy SS Fielder 1B Estrada C Jenkins LF Graffy 2B Counsell 3B (I WISH Hart could play 3B) Vargas I know people will object to Hall being out of the lineup and he will probably be in there...but I just like to find ways to get Gwynn and Gross both in there against the Righty. Obviously if Hall is in there just replace either Gwynn or Gross with Hall and shift the rest of the lineup accordingly.
  22. A win today and the Brewers avoid their first sweep of the season. That's pretty impressive. Despite their bad go of it this week (it's only been a week, but it sure seems like a month) they have not been swept all year.
  23. Dear Ned Yost: I really fear the lineup today. Gwynn RF Hardy SS Fielder 1B Hall CF Estrada C Jenkins LF Graffy 2B Counell 3B Bush P I fear Gwynn's speed at the top. I think I will give up a lot of runs and I will be gone by the 3rd inning. I better not give up any baserunners to the 7, 8 or 9 hitters because 1-6 looks scary. Sincerely Scott Baker
  24. Dear Brewers Please revert back to last homestand Brewers. Get an early lead. Allow Dave Bush to go 7 solid innings with a 5-2 lead. Bring in TBow and Coco for the 8th and 9th and get back to the winning ways we've grown accostomed to this year. Sincerely, MikeRollins
  25. Santana's just not an Ace anyways. He's 4-4. Aces find a way to win even when the team doesn't score for them. For comparison...Ben Sheets is 4-2. Now that's an Ace. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
