    There was absolutely nothing wrong with the dialogue taking place in the Russell Branyan thread. That is an example of a thread being locked simply because the powers that be on this board disagree with an opinion. If you don't want to read about Branyan...then don't click on the link, but obviously a lot of people are interested in the discussion of him or the topic wouldn't keep coming up. I understand you guys have the right to lock any thread or block any poster that you see fit, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the direction of that thread. It was locked simply because a few people were saying they don't like him.

    Exactly! Sometimes all it takes is an eye for baseball to sit down and see when someone can or can't hit consistently. I don't need to crunch out situational stats, OPS, SLG, VORP, RISP, DJOEI, XISIEG, etc, etc to see that Russell Branyan is not a major league hitter. Just watching him he looks overmatched in most at-bats. Occasionally he'll get a hold of one and all his big time fans will get all excited and say...'YEAH!!! RUSSELL 3TO IS BACK MAN!! HE'S ON HIS WAY TO HIS 40 HR SEASON THAT I PREDICTED!! YEAH MAN!!" While the rest of us just think...well there's his HR for the month. I like the guy. I'm intrigued by his power. I'd like him to succeed. But after watching/listening to about 125 games this year, I don't need stats to tell me he's a career AAA player who is lucky to be a platoon player on a ML roster.

    Branyan had a nice night at the plate. It was good to see him get those 3 AB's instead of the red-hot JJ Hardy.

    On a brighter note..... On a Tuesday in late August...with no chance at the wild card, coming off a 2 game losing streak, and the last place pittsburgh pirates in town.... The Brewers drew 28,000+. In years past this game (as AJAY predicted early in the game thread) would have been staring 12,000 in the face. Good job Wisconsin. (especially considering none of them were Pirates fans like when St. Louis, Chicago, etc...fill part of the stadium.)

    Without reading any of the other posts on this thread....... Here's to a 5-1 conclusion to the homestand and FINALLY getting over that elusive .500 mark. I really think the offense will come to life this week with Sheets shelved and they will help the team to win some high scoring affairs. Let's go Crew! Gotta Believe!

    WOW!! Mid-June who would have expected Jenks to have this kind of season!!?? I've always defended him, but even I was having serious doubts whether he was going to be "dead money" for 3 years. Let's get some more!!

    Nah I actually think that they are due for a late inning drama filled win. It starts with 2 in the 8th and 2 off Izzy in the 9th. I feel it!! What a great game!! And a great pitcher's Dual..gotta get Big Ben off the hook.

    I'd keep Sheets in. I think it's a no-brainer to leave him in. Worst case scenerio isn't 1-1 with Sheets out. It's 1-0 with Sheets out.

    The way the bats are right now he could pitch 13 shutout innings and still get a no decision. That run doesn't win or lose the game. The inability to get hits is killing the crew this week. Cincy and Col should help cure that, but a win today would be huge.

    I'm real excited as I'm going to the next 2 games. It should be a great coupld of days of baseball. I really want to get to that .500 mark on this road trip because in today's landscape if you can be .500 heading into August, you are in the wild card race, whether you're good enough to win it remains to be seen. I just want to jump one team at a time. If we could catch Florida during this homestand and then catch the Mets/Phillies when we play them next week all of a sudden we are right in the thick of it. We can not afford to lose series to teams we can beat though. It starts tonight. I big bunch of winnable games that the crew WILL WIN!!!! Let's go Cappy...keep it rollin'.

    So what?? We're down 11-2 to the Cards. We had our #5 guy going and 11-2 is the same as 3-2 in the W-L column. The goal for the road trip is still to go 4-3. Most likely 2 in SL and 2 in Cincy or 1 in SL and 3 in Cincy. I like the make up of this club right now. I still think they might make things interesting tonight.

    I Here is the "why would you give lee a day off" post. It's almost comical. The guy hasn't missed a game all season. He played in the all-star game. He hit in the home run derby. He needs a day off. . This isn't a video game. You can't just plug a 3B into the outfield because it sounds interesting. Yes he's played some OF in the minors, but obviously they aren't comfortable with him out there. There's probably a reason for that. Chris Magruder is the 4th OF. When Lee gets a day off, he's going to be the one that plays.

    I'm so excited to try to win the series today that I had to post even though it's only 9:30. Come on Ohka...show em they never shoulda traded you for Spivey!!! Here's to a big win heading on the road to take a series from the Cards. GO CREW!
