  1. Sorry - jumping in here late today, but I'm dumbfounded. I just can't believe we made this move. This one is going to come back to haunt us.
  2. I agree with this Hench dude being an idiot, but I'm really not sure how that translates to Fox News Channel. I will continue to be a loyal viewer (it's on in my office every day when I'm in town) and hopefully that doesn't make me an outsider here! Sure sounds like I'm in the minority. Maybe the FNC part of this thread needs to move to a political board.
  3. If the question of asking for waivers is correct (see above), someone should tell Hardicourt. I read again today that Vargas is the only guy out of options who would need to clear waivers to be sent down. He must not understand the policy either because he hasn't pointed out once that others have options but would need to go through waivers.
  4. And I'm sure he's glad everyone knows! How'd you like and email to go out to your coworkers and customers... "MoneyballMan will be out for six weeks because he has an anal fissure."
  5. Adenhart's one of those prospects who could step in and never lose his job.
  6. Yes, I've rebooted (and taken it on the road several times since it stopped working). And yes, I tried WEP and WPA separately (to try to get the desktops working). When I couldn't get all PC's working, I turned security "off" and that's when this one laptop just stopped connecting to the wireless network (it does connect wired).
  7. I recently attempted to turn on WEP and WPA security on my home wireless network (two desktops and three laptops). Since I could not get the two desktops to connect using either scheme, I turned security off for the moment. However, I now have one laptop that will not connect to the network. It will recognize that it's present, try to connect for a few minutes and then just fail. And at that point, it stops even recognizing that the network is available. Is there anything in a registry that I can clear out or a "process" that needs to be stopped or anything else someone can think of to get this laptop working again? All of the other 4 PC's connected just fine when I turned security off and I have checked every setting (there aren't that many) on the one laptop that isn't connecting. And it connects just fine to wireless networks in airports (tried three this week) and hotel (tried one). Anyone have any suggestions - I'd be very appreciative!
  8. Well, I know some people were disappointed that Craig Coshun wasn't brought back...but you have to like his replacement!
  9. Does anyone know when FSN HD is coming to Charter Cable? Sitting up here in Jackson NOT enjoying Charter Cable...
  10. Well, the way Cappy's pitching this spring, he may just clear waivers!
  11. I hate to beat this issue back and forth, but I do NOT believe they would be exposed to other teams. They have a regular option left and could be sent to AAA without being exposed. Now, it's highly unusual for someone making $3m/year to be playing at AAA, but it can be done if they have options left. So it is a possibility to send Cappy down to keep additional pitching depth.
  12. At least someone put an end to the political-related commentary....because with a few cocktails under may belt, this would have definitely cost me a point! LOL Seriously, I think it's amazing that there aren't more rumors concerning our SP surplus.
  13. As I'm sure many others are now thinking.....Cappy's as good as gone!!
  14. I agree. It used to be some guy doing it on "the side", but he wound up making it a full-time career move. And if you watch the site, he does actually have some good contacts. Now, a lot of them are beat writers around the country, but that's where you can get a lot of accurate stuff. I give the site a pretty high rating.
  15. Is it really? That's a Friday, isn't it? Night game or are they really going to televise it on a Friday afternoon? Or maybe they'll do one of those FSN broadcast and then immediatley repeat it that evening? Thanks in advance for clarifying for me....need to get the TiVo set before leaving town for the week!
  16. I agree. As much as I'd also hate to see him go, it's inevitable because we just will never be able to please Prince/Boras. And like it or not, we're just not a franchise that can support a $20m/year+ player, regardless of who it is. Unless revenue sharing suddenly looks more like the NFL (which it won't), then we're just going to need to accept that his stay here is limited. Enjoy him in a Brewers uniform while you can!!
  17. Two projections for Marmol from publications that do a pretty good job: Baseball Forecaster (Ron Schandler) - 3.58 ERA; 1.33 WHIP - they still like him, but don't project another year with 1.50 ERA or anything Baseball Prospectus - 4.06 ERA; 1.39 WHIP "A lot of Cubs fans were up in arms that Marmol was not the team's closer by the end of the season, comparing the situation to that of the 2006 Tigers, who had Joel Zumaya in the Marmol role and Todd Jones playing Dempster. The analogy is a pretty good one, but one needs to remember what happened to Zumaya in 2007: his ERA spiked, and he suffered a career-threatening shoulder injury. Although Marmol is not likely to duplicate Zumaya's history of fluke injuries, he can expect to see his ERA rise, mostly because the high heat he throws is good, but not good enough to let him repeat the mere three home runs he allowed in 2007. To build on his breakout season, Marmol will have to rely less on his fastball and instead work on throwing his good curveball down in the zone." So, I don't think anyone is saying he's going to be suddenly horrible, but certainly not as good as his stats made him appear last year.
  18. I agree with you, which is also why McGwire was a dope for just not talking about his Andro use before Congress. He looked much worse trying to tip toe around the topic versus just admitting he used things from GNC. Now, I'm not saying Andro is a good thing, but we shouldn't lump DT in with guys who were having trainers inject illegal substances into their arses.
  19. I agree completely ... with you putting this in blue! Sometimes our expectations are so great that we believe that we should have a pitcher who has saved 40 games a year for each of the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th innings! Turnbow is a better 8th inning option than 75% of the other teams have (ok, I made that % up without checking, but you get my point).
  20. Probably 100% correct and it has to do with "efficient markets". If there were only 10 people on eBay, it wouldn't be considered "efficient". The other end of the spectrum is the New York Stock Exchange, which is considered "efficient". Individuals may believe the value of a company's stock should be more or less than the current price, but because the market it efficient, the value at that moment is exactly what the market defines it as. So, assuming eBay is efficient at this point (and it's probably very close to that when it comes to collectibles), then the value is whatever two people in that market is willing to sell/buy it for (just like the NYSE). There is a difference, obviously, since we're talking about multi-day auctions (vs instantaneous value-determining transactions), but the concept is very similar. Of course, if you do NOT believe it's an efficient market, then there could be "deals" to be had. And I believe there may be situations where it isn't efficient due to the number of items up for bid at any given time versus the number of buyers looking/bidding on a particular item. But with the number of people constantly on eBay (particularly looking at collectibles), I'd argue is more efficient than not. Just my two cents and I also agree it's a nice looking card.
  21. Is that REALLY what Perez is expecting? I hadn't seen that speculation and have a hard time believing it. Holy cow, things would be out of control if that happened!!
