  1. Maybe I was an abused child, but I know I would have preferred a Miller brewery tour to a day at the Betty Brinn museum!
  2. I believe Tiger will win the PGA this weekend. Sorry, had to mix it up a little bit.
  3. I host a charity golf outing and silent auction every year and would love to obtain more autographed memorabilia. But if you don't have a pic, is there somewhere you can get these for a reasonable price (other than a collectible shop pre-framed, etc.)?
  4. I know this is going to shock everyone coming from me, but what if they go 24-10 again? 84-65 in three weeks would look pretty good, wouldn't it? And is there really any reason they couldn't? NO ONE would have predicted a 24-10 start of essentially this same team (although I'm sure someone will claim they predicated it).
  5. Great post - great points. Hopefully he can close the deal and keep it going!
  6. That's a pretty detailed dream! HURRY - wake up before the list gets longer! http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/roll.gif
  7. As always, right on the money. The whole issue of bandwagoners can be beaten to death, but if we had all of these fans all along, why haven't we drawn 3 million fans every year? I believe most on BF.net are true fans who have been with them long-term. We're the ones who have a right to get most excited and most frustrated because we're still here. Just need to ignore the bandwagoners (including many of the "casual" press). Whether we finish 90-72 and take the division of 78-84 in third or fourth place, most of us will be on here all off-season and again next year.
  8. Ok, ok, I'll play along nicely. I believe....Dave Bush will toss a three-hit complete game tonight.
  9. Hee hee. I was waiting for a verse of Kumbaya to break out too!
  10. Have we lost the ability to tear a ticket stub? I know it's an old fashioned idea, but... Great point - amazing we were able to get by without bar code scanners for so many years. Just tear the ticket!!
  11. I thought I had heard it all until a few minutes ago. The doctor who did the breast enhancement surgery on Anna Nicole Smith is trying to market the thing! Unbelievable. And probably just as unbelievable that it was even recorded!!
  12. Let's try to keep political figures out of the mix, as it will lead this thread own a bad, bad road (plus it's against site policy). Hee, hee - Brian, you are so right! This one could have veered out of control in a hurry (and yours truly probably would have contributed, so I'm glad you pointed this out!) So, without getting into politics (and I could have a HUGE list there), here's mine: 1. Steven A. Smith 2. Keith Olbermann 3. Sean Penn 4. Barry Bonds
  13. No additional confirmation yet?
  14. Casey, either general Coors effect or "what happened with Yo" (with hopes it was the Coors effect and nothing else). But I guess you're right, the latter may have already been discussed during IGT.
  15. WOW! Thanks for posting this - I certainly had not realized how he compared favorably with other HOF catchers. I'm sure BF.net must have done a HOF discussion about him previously, but I obviously missed it. Good stuff!
  16. Very interesting, but the author doesn't go on to interpret possible reasons. 1. Just didn't "have it" yesterday 2. Injury 3. Tired 4. Lack of concentration (kind of similar to #1) 5. Thin air that maybe he's never experienced? 6. Other? Hopefully it's #5 and would offer an explanation and comfort us that he will come back strong in his next start.
  17. Also - steroids have always been illegal. Baseball does not supersede the law. Just because steroids weren't against the rules of baseball at one point doesn't make it okay for players to have taken them during that time. Great point and one that rarely comes up.
  18. That's pretty good over on the "inside the ivy" forum - those guys are read to jump out a window. Scutaro was mentioned but they don't believe he'd clear waivers. Glaus is mentioned, but they a) doubt the Cubs would pick up his contract (I think they actually would in a heartbat), but b) assume an AL team would claim him before he fell to the Cubs.
  19. Pretty cool story. As much as I'm not a Cardinals fan, it would be quite an accomplishment to witness if Ankiel can come all the way back as a successful MLB position player.
  20. 82 wins is a success, if we don't have a winning record this season then I think its a failure. I think people raised their expectations way too much because of the early season hot streak. I think 2008 sees us with a good shot at a 85-90 win team. Sheets, Gallardo, Parra, Suppan, Capuano, Bush is a decent rotation. The young offensive players should improve more and more and I don't think Menchkins is going to be that hard to replace personally I would have written almost the identical assessment. Before the season, I guessed 78-84, which I've been panned for and still hope I'm wrong about. But I've also said anything better than 81-81 would be a nice progression. And we have a young base of talent that many teams would love to have. Sure there are pieces that we should be concerned about (e.g. Suppan's performance vs contract, Sheets' injury proneness and FA after '08, Weeks inability to hit a pitch that isn't straight), but overall we should be very confident that we'll be able to compete in '08 and beyond. And yes, after the 24-10 start, I was as excited as anyone. So in terms of the opportunity they had to make this a GREAT season, it is disappointing. But that comes from expectations being raised beyond where they should have been after that start.
  21. I still hope I'm wrong, but 78-84 is still a distinct possibility unfortunately. I think we should just focus again on having our first .500+ season since when? Third place and 82-80 wouldn't be a bad progression from where we've been, would it?

  23. Don't forget MVP Thank you, phatmatt - almost forgot the MVP! Would have wrapped them both up with a 3-run bomb there!!
  24. ...and everyone is a Brewers fan again! I would hope everyone on here is a Brewers fan regardless (I know I have been for 41 years). But sometimes a little frustration comes through..... and I probably just have a character flaw with "assume the worst and be pleasantly surprised".
