  1. So with Izturis gone, who's going to grab Ramirez's "boys" from behind the next time he hits a walk-off HR? Maybe Ramirez WAS bothered by that even though he seemed to enjoy it in that video....
  2. Maybe Hee Seop Choi? Where's he nowadays? Japan
  3. Ok, completely useless to say that he isn't pitching well?!? I don't get why people are so defensive about every little thing on this site. Capuano has not pitched well since early May. That's all I was saying, why does everything become such a big production? Why can't someone point out that a guy isn't pitching well and show his ERA to prove that point? ERA is how pitchers have been judged for 130 years, but now it's "completely useless"? I could not agree more. You can usually point things like this out, but just don't offend anyone!
  4. I could not have said it better myself and was just waiting for some discussion on this topic. He's obviously not going to lose his spot in the rotation given his contract, but I'd have to say that Villanueva or Gallardo would probably look better in that spot right now than Suppan. And if he keeps pitching like this, that's a heck of a lot of contract to carry for three more years. Let's hope he turns it around here soon.
  5. I thought I remembered hearing that Hunter and the Twins were nearing a new contract to keep him there. But I could very well be mistaken and I can't find the reference. It would be intriguing if we don't have to give up the farm for him. Jacque Jones is probably more a possibility than Hunter.
  6. I agree. I just don't see what Gwynn has done to be considered an everyday prospect. But hopefully he proves me wrong in the next 4-6 weeks! If he's the one coming up, I'd prefer Hart in CF and give Jenkins more time in RF. But I'm sure Yost won't want to "mess with a good thing" that Hart has going.
  7. I would almost be willing to give Nix a shot, if only out of curiosity. His AVG and OBP numbers at Nashville are almost identical to Gwynn's, and he's slugging almost .200 higher . This might be the time to fish or cut bait with him, so to speak. (And apparently he's solid defensively.) I kind of agree, but I won't stand up and argue strongly in Nix's favor. He does have some MLB experience and when healthy showed signs of being solid. I just thinking checking Nix out is just as good (with better upside) than Gwynn. Someone else pointed out that Nix is 26, so this could also be the one shot we give him. If he fails, he's probably out of the league and we can stop fooling ourselves that he may still turn into something.
  8. No one interested in giving Laynce Nix a shot? He's playing nicely in Nashville and has always had good upside (just hasn't stayed healthy for a whole season). But if he's healty now, I say give him a shot. Ok, start the ripping apart of this suggestion!
  9. Toss me in as well and thank you very much!
  10. Thanks. But you have to admit those numbers are pretty impressive for any level! Unfortunately, at 29 he's probably not even prospect material any longer.
  11. Ok, someone is going to need to post the mpg as the you tube video has been blocked supposedly by MLB. Did anyone download it? I have a few friends who are Cubs fans and they HAVE to see it!!
  12. How does the Mexican League compare to MiLB? I always understood that it's basically AAA-level, but wondered if that was accurate. I'm in a baseball simulation league and I have a AAA minor leaguer named Carlos Rivera who is absolutely tearing apart the league. He plays for Guerreros de Oaxaca - look at these numbers through 85 games and 309 AB's: .421/.515/.641 130 hits 15 HR 65 RBI 67 R .421 average and .515 OBP through 85 games? Anyhow, just thought I'd point out someone having a great season and to ask the question about the Mexican league.
  13. Wow, the Dodgers, huh? I'd rather have him go to the Cards (for many of the reasons stated above).
  14. Ok, I'll be the first to admit it. That is only slightly over the line reaction to what I'd probably witness in the dugout after a hit like that. Are you serious? I'm glad I was never on any of the teams where you observed this kind of celebration! I won't even let my wife do that to me when she gets all excited about a great sale at Macy's!
  15. Interesting that they would even bother doing it now. But I guess they needed to show the fans that they're serious about winning. Oops, that's sarcasm - not sure if that's allowed in BF. Anyhow, just surprising they wouldn't just wait until after the season at this point.
  16. Condescension is not helpful or necessary. Condescension is not helpful or necessary.
  17. Thanks Al for pointing out my number one hated phrase. To me it is a capitafascist tripe/phrase that is spewed only by those caught with their hand in the cookie jar and try to ease their red-faceedness through hooded nihilism. That's quite a sentence. Amazing that such an innocent phrase creates such passion. And I'm still trying to figure out how nihilism fits in here - seems like you may need to find some more consequential issues to be upset with. Yikes. And for anyone who needed to look it up: ni·hil·ism /ˈnaɪəˌlɪzəm, ˈni-/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[nahy-uh-liz-uhm, nee-] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation ?noun 1. total rejection of established laws and institutions. 2. anarchy, terrorism, or other revolutionary activity. 3. total and absolute destructiveness, esp. toward the world at large and including oneself: the power-mad nihilism that marked Hitler's last years. 4. Philosophy. a. an extreme form of skepticism: the denial of all real existence or the possibility of an objective basis for truth. b. nothingness or nonexistence. 5. (sometimes initial capital letter) the principles of a Russian revolutionary group, active in the latter half of the 19th century, holding that existing social and political institutions must be destroyed in order to clear the way for a new state of society and employing extreme measures, including terrorism and assassination. 6. annihilation of the self, or the individual consciousness, esp. as an aspect of mystical experience. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Origin: 1810?20; < L nihil nothing (var. of nihilum; see nil) + -ism]
  18. Man, that Braun kid can hit a little bit, can't he?
  19. That IS a great comparison (Hart v Lee). Should be interesting to keep that going for the full season.
  20. This is how spoiled we're getting..... I was thinking how they didn't look too good so far tonight....BUT THEY'RE STILL WINNING! I almost had to force myself to recognize that fact!!
  21. Just a reminder that the game is being broadcast in HD tonight. Enjoy! Unfortunately, some of us were dumb enough to switch to Charter cable (instead of Directv) when we built new houses....
  22. There is then a minute or so of a black screen before the credits, so that what happened is not actually established. Since the show is from Tony's point of view, when his point of view ended (gun shot to the back of the head), the show ended. One could say the last thing he saw was his daughter walking through the door. I could buy this.
