  1. I am not really worried about what a stupid GM gave up at the trade deadline for relief pitching. Just because one GM was really stupid doesn't mean that should be the new market for relief pitching year round. Personally I like our bull pen coming into the season. And with our starting 5 or starting 6 with Villanueva. I don't think our bullpen should be taxed as much as it was last season. There is really no reason why we should start trading cheap pieces of the future for a slight upgrades today. Yeah Linebrink and Cameron could help but at what cost and for how long. I will gladly take the next 6 years of Villanueva over the next 2 years of Cameron and the next year of linebrink.
  2. You are not serious about that proposal are you?? Linebrink and Cameron are nice but neither is really a huge upgrade over what we already have. We don't really need another Right handed reliever and we dont really need another OFer at this point. Especially old expensive ones while giving up top young pitching. Villanueva could probably start in any other NL Rotation this spring. Inman is probably a top 50 prospect in all of baseball this year. While we are at it why not just give up Prince Fielder for Ken Griffey Jr. I guess I just don't get the point of giving up very good young pitching while not really getting a big upgrade at any position.
  3. I had a hard time finding Jeffress on the list. I am under the assumption he will start at West Virginia but couldn't find him on either A or A+ roster. Also Isnt Gillespie at West Virginia a little low. I know next year will be his first profesional season but with the college training, production in rookie ball and age. I can't see him at anything lower than Brevard. I know its a little crowded there but Gillespie seems destined for the big club so I wouldn't see any reason to slow his progression down for the likes of Brantley and Cain. Edited. I didn't realize how good of a season Cain had last year. But Brantley??
  4. Yeah, unless we are talking Weeks, Gallardo, Braun, or Fielder, I don't think the Pirates are picking up the phone. The Gonzalez is up for arbitration and want to parlay a really good relief pitcher for a good, cheap, young bat. One rumor a while ago was Gonzalez to Atlanta for Adam Laroche. I think that is the type of deal that needs to be done for anyone to land him.
  5. I think this would make the Pirates a Dark-Horse team next year. They have a decent staff and with Bay and LaRoche in the middle of your lineup anything can happen.
  6. What? Lee's OPS #''s 2006- .895 2005- .811 2004- .891 2003- .830 2002- .843 2001- .789 sports.espn.go.com/mlb/pl...yerId=4000 You meant to say that Carlos Lee had an OPS above .890 in 2 out of the last 5 years correct?
  7. I hate this assumption that Melvin didn't plan. Especially when they bring up the infield. How Do you plan any better than having an all-star sub. And maybe the best 6th infielder in the majors. NOBODY CAN PLAN FOR THREE OF YOUR STARTING INFIELDERS TO GET INJURED. It's impossible. Adequate Depth. How Many infields are as deep as the Brewers. Their sub ended up being the best hitting Shortstop in the league. Probably the best all around Short stop and we had the guy on the bench. Our 6th infielder hit .320 on the season. And people complain about depth. You can usually only keep 6 infielders on your team. You want to talk about giving eveland a chance?? All I have to say is 5 starts, 9 appearances, 27 innings, 8.1 ERA. If he had around a 6 ERA I could see giving him a longer leash. But 25 earned runs in 27 innings means you need more seasoning. Personally I don't know how the bottom could have fallen out any worse than it did this year. With the exception of Hall, Capuano, Bush, Rillo, and Prince everybody underperformed this year. I guess you could throw Hart and Rivera in there for players not underperforming but that is about it.
  8. Actually I want to get rid of him because he throws like my sister. The fact that he can't hit a lick is just added incentive. Why pay him 3 million when you can pay Gross, Hart, and Gwynn $400,000 to put up pretty much the same offensive numbers, if not better, and play 10 times better defense. I just don't see any upside to keeping the guy.
  9. Personally I dont want to get rid of Jenkins. I think the guy is going to have a huge season next year in his contract year. I could be wrong but it is just a hunch. I think Clark and a mid-level prospect for Burrell and 8 million would get it done.
  10. A-Rod is 31 wont turn 32 till next July. I would love for A-Rod to come to Milwaukee and even proposed a trade on the JSonline board. I got laughed off the board because they say A-Rod sucks and wont be traded My trade was Capuano Zach Jackson Mark Rogers/Will Inman For Alex Rodriguez and $20 Million making Rodriguez's deal worth 12 million a season. What do you guys think of the trade. I dont know exactly how much we have to give up. Maybe we take Rogers or Inman out of the deal and make it Capuano and Jackson. I dont know if they go for it. I think that is what it will take though
  11. Or he only has 1 year left on his contract and he will be playing for a $10-20 million contract next year (over 3 years of course). Its called a contract year. Soriano put up an OPS 80 points higher than his previous two seasons and Carlos Lee hit 5 more home runs than his previous career high this year. Major Leaguers tend to do real well when 10-20 million is on the line.
  12. I think the phillies are dying to unload him that is why I included Jenkins, because I did not want his salary and it would make burrell's salary easier to take. The reason I do not like doing Mench is because we don't really owe Mench a salary next year. By including Mench instead of Jenkins essentially you are adding 7 million to the cap next year. But I think you were right maybe they would have to sweeten it more by adding someone of Zach Jackson's calibur. Or if they wanted the deal of Mench, Rogers, Jackson maybe they could add another 3-4 million to the deal because that is about how much we would need to get rid of Geoff Jenkins.
  13. New to the Forum. I have been watching for a while now and just wanted to give it a try. Trades: 1.) Jenkins and Mark Rogers for Pat Burrell and 10 million from the Phillies. Pat Burrell is due 29 Million over the next 2 seasons and Philadelphia has soured on him. I like his .890 OPS and think he can easily replace Lee's production in the lineup. 2.) Mench for best available offer. If nobody wants him. Dont offer him arbitration unless it is for less than 1.5 million. I think his production can be reproduced by Hart or Gross or any other outfielder in the Majors. There is no reason to have a $4 million outfielder with an OPS under .800 that sucks on defense on a low budget roster. 3.) Offer Bell and Graffinino arbitration. Hopefully someone picks them up in Free Agency and the Brewers get draft picks in return. 4.) Offer Tomo Ohka Arbitration or a 2 year 10 million dollar offer max. If He accepts great but I doubt he will. The first round pick will be good enough 5.) Offer Hall Arbitration- hopefully it is only 3-4 Million. Try to sign to multi year contract. 6.) Sign Doug Davis to a 2 year 11 million dollar contract. 7.) Offer Capuano arbitration 4.5 million 8.) Sign Greg Madux to a 1 year $5 million contract for either end of rotation or long bull pen. Hopefully Mike Maddux can talk him into it. 9.) Offer Shouse arbitration 10.) re-sign Cirillo for 1.5 million Starting pitching 1.) Sheets 10 2.) Capuano 4.5 3.) Bush .4 4.) Davis 5 5.) Maddux 5 20 million Bullpen Eveland .35 Shouse 1 Turnbow 2.3 Cappellan .35 Helling 1 Gonzalez 1 Cordero 5 11 Million Lineup 2B-Weeks .4 CF-Gwynn .35 SS- Hall 3 1B- Prince .4 LF- Burrell 8 3B- Koskie 2 RF- Hart .35 C- Miller 3.75 17.75 Bench Rivera .4 Hardy .35 Cirrillo 1.5 Gross .35 Clark 3.8 6.4 BTW- I would shed Clark's salary to whoever would take it. I just dont know if I would have any takers. This would also allow a chance for Villanueva, Jackson, Hendrickson, Eveland to challenge for the starting rotation and would leave Gallardo in the minors for a mid season callup when a starter gets injured. Total team Salary= 55.15 million My Projections for 2007's lineup would be 1.) Weeks (.290 AVG, .380 OBP, 35 steals, 15 HR, 110 runs) 2.) Gwynn (.270 AVG, .350 OBP, 25 steals, 70 runs with split time w/ Clark) 3.) Hall (.930 OPS, 35 HR, 110 RBI) 4.) Prince (.900 OPS, 35 HR, 110 RBI) 5.) Burrell (.880 OPS, 30 HR, 110 RBI) 6.) Koskie (.830 OPS, injured halfway thru the season 7.) Hart (.850 OPS) 8.) Miller Personally I wouldnt mind an upgrade at center but it is highly doubt
