  1. Sorry if this has already been stated. 31 pages is a lot to go through. Anyword on who the PTBNL is? Everyone is saying Taylor Green. To me Green doesn't make any sense because if it was Taylor Green why wouldn't they just announce Taylor Green? I am guessing it is someone from the draft class. Just hope it is not Lawrie, Odorizzi, or Frederickson and I think it was a great trade. If it was Odorizzi or Frederickson I think it was a trade the Brewers had to make. If it is Lawrie or Taylor Green I just hope the Brewers win the World Series. I may be way off on the PTBNL thing but Taylor Green just does not make sense to me.
  2. Really? Have you seen him pitch lately and seen his stats lately. If I Had to start a series today I would take Haren over Webb and I would take Hardy over Braun. Not saying in the future I would not take Webb over Haren and Braun over Hardy. But you have to ride the hot hand and right now Webb's and Braun's are definitely not while Haren's and Hardy's definitely are.
  3. I haven't talked yet on this whole thread. But I say punt...... Want to know why. LaPorta is rediculous and Taylor Green has hit more homeruns at A+ than both Gamel and Braun. If we give up this package we might as well have given up Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee for a year and a half of Bartollo Colon. Whatever I have my 20 game pack I will be there for every playoff game. But if LaPorta and Green are really the Package I am not renewing my season ticket package unless Doug Melven is replaced. Then again right now I have about a 1.75 liter of Korbel in me so that might change by the morning. Still I don't like this trade.
  4. Has the prospects the Brewers have been turning out blinded us to the true potential of some of our minor leaguers?? Take away the rest of the Huntsville talent and Errecart has the 3rd best OPS in the Southern League and the youngest out of the top 5 players in OPS. Maybe he is a product of the lineup, but still the guy is putting up huge numbers. As for Brad Nelson. A .300 BA and .900 OPS combined with less K's than Walks is pretty impressive at AAA. He needs to get a shot somewhere. I think both will be starting Major Leauguers somewhere. If I had to choose one now though I would have to go with Nelson. The Left handed bat along with the plate discipline put him over the top. Does anyone know how either are rated defensively?
  5. Really we need to give up Salome and Gillespie for Betancourt who has a 6+ ERA this year and we have to pay him 5+ million next season? If that is the case what can the Brewers get for Gagne.
  6. Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I'll 3rd that motion. I used to get made fun of unmercifully because I wouldn't drink beer at parties, I'd always just drink hard liqour or on occasion some type of malt beverage. Is Smirnoff's really that unmanly? Not if your 14. BTW-Schlitz is back out on the market in bars and they were having a big promotion at a bar I was at. I used to drink it in college so I had one. Everyone made fun of me. Then they had a taste and realized it tastes pretty good. Now whenever we go to that bar everyone gets Schlitz's. IMO its a pretty good Beer that gets a bad rep in the era of light beers.
  7. I agree with that. We still have him for another 3.5 years at a decent rate...enjoy it already Brewer Fans!!! That's a lifetime in baseball time. If a high 200's average, 35 HRs and 100 RBIs doesn't do it for you...I don't know what will...and that could be in a "down" year. I agree we should enjoy Prince while he is here. That line that you put up just seems like a pipe dream to me. Since today is the halfway point it would be easy to extrapolate the stats for the entire season. Prince Fielder's line would be .271/.358/.488/.846 with 32 HR's and 84 RBI's. That is a pretty good line. But not really for a first baseman. And not really for a player that has hit in the #3 or #4 spot all season. His .227 AVG/.830 OPS with runners in scoring position also leaves alot to be desired as does his .154 avg/.735 OPS with 2 outs and runners in scoring position. Add into the fact that his defense is a major liability in the field and one might say that Prince Fielder has actually hurt this team more than he has helped it half way through the season. Now just because a player has a bad half season does not mean that they should be traded. I don't think a Prince trade should be discussed for at least another 1.5 years. However I think there definitely should be discussion about what is going on with Prince. I am just suprised that a moderator has not locked this thread yet and told everyone that there have been about 50 created and still open just like it.
  8. With 14 steals and 8 triples last season and 5 steals and 6 triples already this season, it appears that Gamel has pretty good speed. With that in mind I would assume that his speed would translate into getting to a few more balls in the OF. With that logic I would say go with Gamel in the OF and LaPorta at 1B. Hopefully though it will not come to this and Gamel's defense improves enough to stick at 3B and the real easy answer is LaPorta at 1B with Brantley or someone else patroling the OF with Braun and Hart.
  9. Does it matter that the picks that Arizona received for Sexson turned into what appears to be Micah Owings and a AAA pitcher Matt Tora that appears to finally have gotten into a decent groove?
  10. we are not going to re-sign Sabathia. But give me Sabathia for 10-12 starts plus the playoffs and 2 draft picks for Dr. Z to work with inside the top 50 and we'll discuss Gamel, IMO. Maybe I am wrong but with Taylor Green hitting at a better clip than both Gamel and Braun at A+ and a left handed bat I think it is definitely an option. Personally I think it is insane for the Indians to bypass Gamel. Especially in the A.L. . and I definitely think it is insane for the Brewers to bypass the rotation of Sheets, Sabathia, Suppan, and Parra for this post season. The Trade makes so much sense on so many levels that it will never go down. But it is something great to think about.
  11. I suck at sympathizing. So if you guys could help me who am I supposed to feel sorry for about Zambrano going down. -Zambrano himself? A guy that has already made a healthy sum of money is signed for 5 more years and 90 million more dollars. The injury is non life threatening, won't affect his personal life and might not even affect his professional life after this season. -The Tribune Company? They will get a billion dollar bid no matter what. Actually the Cubs are probably worth more if they lose. Or am I supposed to feel sorry that they continually take a financial advantage every season over the rest of the NL Central teams and squander it away. -Cubs Fans? really, am I supposed to feel sorry for cubs fans? As for competative issues with injuries. Every season is affected by injuries. It is a major usually forgotten theme of every playoff race. If you are upset that the Cubs won't be at their best this season, Then be irate that we won't see anywhere near the Cardinals best this season, or for the most part anyother team's best this season .
  12. Four Terrace Box tickets in section 416 Row 2 Seat 15-18 and a preferred parking pass for $70 Would prefer that the person would pick up tickets in Waukesha.
  13. Oh I wouldn't say that, I bet he takes down a good sassage.
  14. Wasn't Ryan Braun and Corey Hart hitting behind Fielder earlier in the season? Any who, the thing I don't like about Prince not eating meat is that Prince read it from what is probably a propaganda book. So instead of attacking the problem and making sure that all the meat he ate was kosher or the animals were treated properly that he ate he cut meat out of his diet completely? I just don't get it. I worked on a farm, I have been to meat processing plants. I don't get what he is all worked up about. That they die so we can eat? If you don't like the way Oscar Meyer makes a hot dog. Don't eat Oscar Meyer or the Hot Dog, but don't cut meat out of the whole food group. If you don't like the way your meat is being processed buy it straight from a Farmer and go investigate the processing plant. Prince is rich enough that he could easily do that. Hell you don't have to even be rich. Millions of Americans already do it. Also I love how all the vegan groups and animal rights groups complain about how badly animals such as cows, chickens or pigs are treated but none of them come to the realization that if they were not used for food and grown on farms that there would probably at least 60% less of them in the world (totally rough guess). Maybe Fielder does have a diet in place that would work. If it was Gabe Kapler going Vegetarian I would trust him a little more. It just doesn't seem like a nice healthy salad and legumes were what prince was craving before he turned vegetarian so I don't really see how that would be his main courses. Maybe I am wrong though, maybe Prince is what most people look like about 4 months after they substitute Vegetables, Legumes, Nuts and whole grains into the diet instead of meat and play a professional sport daily during that time period. I don't have all the facts and I shouldn't really criticize. Literature can influence peoples lives dramatically. I guess I just wished for Prince Fielder's sake that his wife would have given him a book about how a healthy diet can affect a person's life instead of a book on how poorly animals are treated during food processing or whatever it was. Although I might be wrong and Prince might be in better overall physical health this year than he was last year. But for some reason he just doesn't look like it to me By the way I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich Mahoghany. I--I'm friends with Merlin Olsen, too. He comes over on occasion.
  15. I know Kendall is a warrior that will play every day behind the plate. But at 33 (34 in less than a month) I think his production would go up quite a bit if he wasn't on pace to catch 145 games. I know he has done it his whole career. However when you get older you are not able to do the things you have done when you were younger. Give the guy off 2 days a week. He would still probably catch 120 games. I guess I don't understand why we are running him into the ground. sure we lose a little behind the dish with Rivera, but what we lose for the extra day a week I think we would definitely make up for it in Kendall's play the rest of the Week. As for Cameron, Weeks, and Hardy, the three of them currently have OPS's at least 50 points under their career norms. They will be OK as the season wears on I believe.
  16. While you are at it you can add on about 7 million for Fielder at least, 4 million for Suppan, probably around 4 million for Hart, a couple million for Hardy, couple million for Weeks, Bush will go up. (Arbitration such as 7 for Prince, 4 for Hart are just guestimates, I have no idea where they will be) Yes you can subtract Gagne's and Cameron's salary, but you have to also add in Fielder, Hart, Hardy, Week's and Bush's Arbitration raises. Incremental salary raises for Suppan, Riske, Torres, Hall and the rest. Plus replacing players that leave such as Cameron and the bullpen. You can't look at the salary structure in a vacuum and say they have 30 million coming off so they have 30 million to spend next year on acquisitions.
  17. Really? Good to know. Glad to hear that the Brewers have an unlimited budget. With the new found unlimited budget I think the Brewers should go after CC Sabathia too. And yes. If you trade Suppan for prospects or young players on the minimum that decreases the payroll by his salary so you can add more salary in other places. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp. Small market teams have a maximum amount they will spend. If you don't think the salaries of other players affect the decision to keep FA such as Sheets you are kidding yourself. No its not just Suppan and Hall but it is the collective team and I doubt this team will ever be in the top 10 in salary spenders. Paying Suppan's 12.5 slot and Hall's Slot definitely has an effect on the Brewers ability to pay Sheets.
  18. I don't condone throwing at players heads but if there was ever a time to throw at a players head it was Crisp's. That guy is a clown plain and simple and I don't know what the precedent for suspension is for his actions but 10 games sounds right for me. That play last night was ridiculous retaliation for blocking second base on a steal (apparently what Crisp was upset about) And Charging the mound is ridiculous retaliation for getting your lower body thrown at after trying to purposely injure someone.
  19. After the season Suppan could have some serious value. 2 years left with a possibility of 3 at big money but not crippling money for an effective pitcher that makes 30+ starts a year. Now I would hate to lose Suppan, but if the Brewers needed to free up money for Sheets. I think there would be a big market for Soup and I think the Brewers could bring in a pretty good haul. As for Sheets his value probably puts him at around 4/60, so in free agency some crazy team will probably come up with a crazy offer of 5/90. The Brewers should definitely make Sheets a solid offer. Personally I would offer the 4/60 right now. However I would hate to see them get into a bidding war.
  20. Kapler shouldnt get significant playing time permanently, IMO. However I would like to see him get at least one start in Colorado and maybe even 2.
  21. I didn't like it as well for most of the reasons already said. To much bad CGI, somewhat boring, Horrible ending, and a poor poor artifact to be chasing. More in Gray He destroys 5,000 years of historical artifacts and we are supposed to be happy? Plus when they make Indiana out to be a fool. Would you ever trust a guy that pulls a gun on you behind your back when you have the upper hand? Maybe you don't kill the guy but I would definitely leave him behind.
  22. You know where the weight room is...................... I'll check it out
  23. This move was so obvious I was wondering what took them so long to make it.
  24. I would like him alot more if his OBP was up around .360-.380 rather than .330. I think he will be a nice player for the Brewers. But I hope it is not for another 2-3 years. Let him work out his kinks in the minors before he gets to the big club.
  25. And Angel is about 1+ years away. Hopefully catcher is a position we don't have to worry about for a long time.
