What an absolute mess. Total disaster. Nothing more to say.

Not only is Suppan giving us almost no chance to win when he starts but his huge contract will most likely result in him getting the ball every 5th day no matter how long he struggles. This alone could cost us the division. Add in the possibilty that the money that he is making could have been used to resign Cordero and things just keep looking worse. We are going to let Cordero go thinking closers are replaceable but how true is that? How many contending teams have the possibilty of having a closer as shaky as Turnbow next season. If that kind of money was available for a guy as mediocre at best as Suppan why cant we resign Cordero? Also will Suppan prevent Sheets from being resigned? All of these factors beyond just Suppan looking awful could really hurt this team for years to come. His contract is an albatross that I really hope doesnt destroy this teams ability to lock up important pieces like Cordero and especially Sheets.

I said it when they signed him and its more obvious every time he pitches that Suppan flat out sucks. Those people that are waiting for some second half magic like he exhibited last season will be very disappointed. This guy and his contract are an absolute albatross to this organization. His contract will prevent him from being dumped into the bullpen as the mop up guy and it will prevent us from resigning Cordero and possibly Sheets. Its funny how most people dont want to pay Cordero 10 mil a year but paying for mediocrity is the worst thing a small market team can do. As far as Yost is concerned the man is an absolute dope. Watching this season go down the drain is very depresssing.

They gave up way way way too much for a reliever having a bad year. I have faith in Jack Z to use the draft picks wisely but this looks like a panic move. I think Inman has better than 4-5 starter potential. I am in no way a fan of this trade. I would have much preferred sending away Gwynn than Inman. This trade could really come back to bite us in a few years.

I hate to say it but I think Jenkins is washed up. He really seems to have lost a lot of bat speed the last few years. As far as draft picks are concerned I am pretty sure that once we dont exercise the option in his contract we lose any compensation rights.

This team needs to wake up already. We cant keep playing like absolute garbage on the road. Also lets get Rickie in the lineup everyday again. He looks to be coming out of his slump and he unlike guys like Estrada knows how to take pitches. Rickie also plays hard and is a sparkplug.

Absolutely disgusting loss. Bases loaded and nobody out and you dont score one run, pitiful. This team also is hitting .212 with RISP and 2 outs. If Braun and Fielder dont have huge nights this team doesnt score. As far as Estrada is concerned I want him off this team after the year ends. He doesnt run balls out and he really is an empty .280 hitter with his lack of patience and low OBP. As far as defense is concerned he is at the level of a Chad Moeller.

What has happened to this offense? There isnt a guy in the lineup thats playing well other than Braun. I really hope that Fielder doesnt fade again down the stretch like he did last year. At least Hall will be back in a few days and we wont have to see Gwynn anymore.

Enough with the 5 innings from the starters. Suppan is worthless. These starters are killing us. The bullpen is just way overworked. Villy is falling apart because he has been abused all year. Put him in the rotation and let him pitch every fifth day.

I ask this question in regards to putting the best lineup out there regardless of egos or contracts. The bottom line is this team is not trotting out the best lineup that they have in regards to the pitching staff. There is absolutely no justification for leaving struggling starters like Suppan and Vargas in the rotation with guys like Villanueva and Parra in the bullpen. Before the last week or so Villy has been mostly dominant and from the one inning I saw from Parra it is apparent to me that he has what it takes to step into the rotation. How much longer can this team go on knowing that Suppan and Vargas are not capable of pitching more than 5 innings. Pretty funny how Suppan is supposed to be this great innings eater all while pitching 5 innings each time out there. The bullpen is going to fall apart as Villy, Turnbow, and Cordero are being badly overused. Just as this team has benched Weeks for his subpar play its time that Suppan and vargas get demoted in favor of Villanueva and Parra. I truly believe that this team cannot hold on to the division lead as long as these guys are pitching 2 out of 5 days and giving us 5 innings per start. If we want to win now we need to put our best pitchers in the rotation and that means taking Vargas and Suppan out of the rotation immediately. I dont care how much money Suppan is making; that was the owners doing and something must be done. I apologize for the long winded message but I hate to see this team blowing the division because of veterans getting the nod of younger and better pitchers.

Im not blaming Maddux for any of this. As far as who to start the only two logical choices were Sheets or Bush since they are the only two pitching well. Im not blaming Maddux for the fact that Suppan and vargas just arent any good. As far as Capuano is concerned Im really surprised he has been this bad for this long. At any rate we cant win with these three guys pitching this bad. gallardo and Villy are gonna have to be in the rotation at some point because they are two of the best pitchers on the staff and wasting them in the bullpen as long relievers will destroy this teams chances of winning the division.
  12. bklynbrewcrew
Pretty hard to win when 3/5 of your rotation completely sucks. I have absolutely no faith at this point that Cappy, Suppan, or Vargas are gping to turn things around. We need to put Yo and Villy in the rotation before the season slips away completely. We have come too far to let three scrub pitchers bring down the season when we have very good replacements being wasted in the bullpen.

Looks like another promising season is headed right down the drain. Watching this team play the last few weeks has been very depressing.
  14. bklynbrewcrew
Its never smart for a small market team with a limited payroll to pay big money for mediocrity and Suppan is the definition of mediocre.
  15. bklynbrewcrew
Should be Sheets, Bush, Capuano vs Colorado. What exactly has Suppan done to be designated the number two starter. Oh yeah he got the contract that says he is the number two starter. Bush is the only one pitching well other than Sheets and he gets designated the number 4. This organization is not handling this staff the right way at all in my opinion. Hopefully it doesnt cost us a playoff spot.
  16. bklynbrewcrew
Billy Hall's status should have nothing to do with this deal. Gross and Nix could do just as good a job as Gwynn and in Gross' case better.
  17. bklynbrewcrew
If its 4 yrs 56 million that would be a great deal to get Sheets for.
  18. bklynbrewcrew
Im so happy that we have the best mop up pitcher in baseball with Gallardo while Suppan and Vargas stay in the rotation. Im also thankful that we wouldnt trade Gwynn for Otsuka because Gwynn is just so awesome.
  19. bklynbrewcrew
Great comparison between Gwynn and Tom Goodwin. Another good comparison for Gwynn is Jason Tyner. Bottom line is that we will never get a better guy than Otsuka for Gwynn. If we lose Cordero which is probable Otsuka can be the closer for the next two seasons. Please Dougie come to your senses and make this deal.
  20. bklynbrewcrew
We are like a bad AAA team when we play on the road. Also please fire Ned during the break. His stupidity never seems to end.
  21. bklynbrewcrew
Rosenthal is on drugs if he thinks that Gwynn is an everyday player. If this guy had the name Tony Wynn instead of Gwynn he would have no trade value at all. We should take advantage of his name recognition and trade him before he plays long enough to show what he really is, a 4th or 5th outfielder. We would have Otsuka for 2 and a half seasons and the bullpen would be amongsth the deepest in baseball. Come on Doug make this deal. As far as replacing Hall for a few weeks Gross could do a better job and Nix is also as good if not better than Gwynn.
  22. bklynbrewcrew
I cant believe that this rumor is true. This would absolutely be a phenomenal deal. Gwynn is no better than a 4th or 5th outfielder. Otsuka is a top flight reliever who we would have for the next two and a half seasons. Hall being injured shouldnt stop Melvin from making this deal. Gross is a better player than Gwynn and Nix is just as good. Please Doug Melvin make this deal if you can.
  23. bklynbrewcrew
I hated the Suppan signing at the time and I hate it even more now. Bottom line is Suppan completely sucks. The guy cant even shut down the inept Washington Nationals. The fact is the guy is in the rotation instead of Gallardo and Villanueva who are far better pitchers. Throw in the fact that his huge contract prevents us from putting him in the bullpen or trading him and the signing just looks worse every time he pitches. All the moaning about Vargas is definitely warranted but the fact is Suppan is a far bigger problem. Having the two of them in the rotation instead of Gallardo and Villy may very well cost us the division.
  24. bklynbrewcrew
I said it when they signed him and I will say it again: Suppan sucks.

Rob Neyer wrote an article today about why Jason Tyner doesnt belong in the major leagues and i could have sworn he was talking about TGJ!
