    Ok so Detroit isnt the Yankees or Red Sox but my point is that Porcello winds up with one of the best teams in baseball while KC is forced to take someone they didnt like as much. As for KC it looks like they wont be signing Moustakas. This stuff just isnt good for the game.

    Well thats one useless pitcher gone. I think Wise might be next. I like Matt for his contributions the last few years but he has been awful ever since he hit that guy in the face.

    The defense is what killed Cappy most last night. We all love Braun but the guy is probably the worst defensive third baseman in the game today. As for Weeks he cant even throw out a pitcher on a routine ground ball. The defense is the biggest weakness on a team full of holes.

    I would definitely like to see Dillon get a shot at Mench's job. Paying Mench 3 mil a year is a complete waste of money.

    I love Braun as a hitter but his defense is brutal. We have to have the worst defensive team in baseball.

    This starting rotation has been crap for months now. Capuano, Suppan, and Vargas are all extremely shaky and Bush isnt much better. Funny to think that our rotation was supposed to be the strength of the team.

    This is just another problem with the economic system in baseball. Not only do you have teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Tigers with payrolls 2 to 3 times the average team but the draft has becaome a joke as well. When a guy like Porcello who was projected to go number 2 overall to a team that needs him (Royals) and slips to the team that played in the world series the year before because of signability the draft has even become a sham.

    While Cappy has been bad for the most part he hasnt been hit all that hard. There have been numerous seeing eye singles and the defense behind him has been atrocious. I would give him at least one more start.

    Where do I even start with this vent. Shocking that this team scores 3 in the first and takes the rest of the night off. Also as much as I love Braun as a hitter can the guy ever make a play on defense? As bad as Capuano has been he has also been very unlucky. Last night there were several routine ground ball singles and lousy defense from Braun and Weeks that didnt help Cappy either. I still like Weeks but can the guy ever get a hit. This division is an absolute joke and if we dont win it Melvin better clean house. Second or third place in this division is beyond unacceptable. Wake up guys and start playing some real baseball!!!!!!

    endaround, the owners actually turned down a rookie cap? Thats prety stupid of them but then again these owners arent very smart.

    Baseball America is saying that Detroit is close to signing Rick Porcello for a 7 million dollar major league deal. The draft isnt even working like its intended to when the best pitcher in the draft goes at the end of the first round for signability issues.

    Another example of how this system doesnt work is in regards to the draft. Kids like Rick Porcello price themselves out of the range of KC and slip to the end of the first round where a team like Detroit picks them. Porcello is close to signing for 7 million when he should have been drafted by KC. If the best players dont even wind up with the worst teams through the draft then how is the system fair. There isnt parity now and there never will be without a hard salary cap.

    Small market teams have to be perfect in their talent evaluations and the contracts that they hand out. Teams like the Yankees can make numerous mistakes like Pavano, Igawa, and Farnsworth as can the Red Sox with guys like Lugo and Drew. A team like the Brewers cant afford to give big money to guys like Suppan and have them fall on their face. Can the Brewers compete somewhat with the big markets: yes they can but for how long? Finally things have caught up with Oakland because they had to trade away their best players and the draft has been unkind to say the least. The Brewers should be fine for another 3 or 4 years but at that point Mark A will have to spend big money on guys like Fielder and Braun or watch the team go back to 90 loss seasons. Unless we get a salary cap in baseball at some point it wont matter how good a GM like Doug Melvin is because the battle will always be fought way uphill.

    JJ had a real nice weekend and hopefully its a sign that he is getting hot again. That would be a huge boost for the offense.

    Bottom line for me is this, unless we win this lousy division the season is a complete and utter failure.

    So now this team cant even beat a guy pitching with a broken leg. Can it get any worse than that.

    Leaving Gallardo in the game as long as he did should get Yost fired on the spot. This guy is 21 years old and the future of the organization yet Yost lets him completely embarrass himself. I realize we need starters to eat up innings but Gallardo is the exception to this rule. We are trying to save his arm yet we let him throw like 80 pitchers in 2 plus innings. Nice way to look out for the guys future. He should have been taken out in the second inning and replaced by Spurling. Give Villanueva a break as well. Yost has completely abused him this year and his arm has basically fallen apart because of it. Enough is enough. Put him on the DL and let him rest a few weeks or his arm will be blown out and he will be no use to us next year as well as this. If it was Suppan or any of the other starters I would allow them to give up 20 runs in order to save the bullpen but not a kid like gallardo. The way Yost has handled this pitching staff and Gallardo and Villanueva in particular is horrendous. The team really looks like it has quit on Yost and a change needs to be made now. I really hope that come friday in Houston Yost is back home in Atlanta and this team can get on with the season without him.

    Being this bad on the road is a reflection of the manager. Get rid of Yost now!

    Let me tell you all about the embarrassment I am feeling right now. I am a Brewers fan living in New York and everyone I know knows me as this huge Brewers fan. Lets just say I have been abused at work for the last few weeks because I stupidly still insist on wearing Brewers shirts to work on occassion. This team is an absolute laughingstock and I am sick of wanting to punch the guys I work with because this team is so bad.

    I really dont even know what to say anymore. This team wasnt able to beat the likes of Washington, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati on the road so why should we expect them to beat a good team like Colorado. Lets face it the 24-10 start was a complete and utter fluke. This team just isnt any good. The pitching sucks from the starters to the relievers. Can a starting pitcher ever get through 6 or 7 innings? The bullpen has been so overworked its disgusting. We have completely ruined Villanueva for the year by pitching him 4 days a week and having him warm up the other days. We may as well shut him down for a few weeks since he looks so bad right now. The offense also sucks and we only score when Braun or Fielder hit a home run. Defensively I cant imagine a worse team. This season is completely going down the drain and our only salvation is the Cubs suck also. Losing every game on the road is completely unacceptable. If this team cant win this division this season when will they ever win? I am so frustrated at this point I dont even know what to say anymore. I go into every game expecting to lose. At least we only blew a 3-0 lead this time instead of 5 or 6-0. This team is just pitiful at this point. Dont know what more I can say.

    I wouldnt have given this deal to Byrnes either but some of you that think this deal is bad were loving the Suppan deal which is far worse in my opinion. At least Byrnes is having a very good year this year. Suppan has never had a season worthy of 10 mil a yr.

    There is no use in having a high average if your OBP is almost the same as the average and you have very little power. Add in Estrada's lousy defense and noodle arm and the guy is almost completely useless. As far as Davis making too much money he has a 3 yr 21 million dollar contract which is a far better contract than the great "innings eater" Suppan who even when he pitches well like on sunday cant even go 6 full innings. Davis pitches tons of innings and is a better pitcher than Suppan for less money.

    Buster Olney was saying on baseball tonight that he and Sheets exchanged text messages and that Sheets is feeling better but wont be back until early September.
