  1. This might not be a popular opinion, but I think Rickie just isn't smart enough to be a consistently good hitter. Natural talent and athletic ability only go so far. Eventually you have to adjust and see the patterns. He just doesn't seem to be able to make good, consistent educated guesses on pitches.
  2. Are you referring to the Homer Hankie years? Or was it the homerdome? I missed it when they called them the buntmeisters.
  3. Back to back bunt hits?!?! That makes me really HATE the Twins. Totally lame!
  4. Interesting to see the two major weekend matchups (NY and Chi) are kicking off on a Friday afternoon. Hey Cubs... LOSE!!!!
  5. Hey Cubs.... LOSE!!!!!!
  6. I have no idea how this guy has a job in MLB. This whole story makes him look like a knob, and I don't see how he could possibly do his job effectively after this. Getting Gaston on board shouldn't save his job. I'm surprised he is still taking up space in this league.
  7. Hmmmmm....I wonder how this will turn out. IIRC, Sprewell made millions after his assault on PJ. I know this is a Chacon thread, but that wiki page has some depressing info on Sprewell that I didn't know. Talk about MC Hammer type money mismanagement. So what does this mean for the 2 Million they gave him? Does he forfeit it? See the link above. I know it's a different league, but Sprewell had an arbitrator rule in his favor. His contract was reinstated and deemed valid. So much for employer's rights. Maybe I can choke my manager and still get paid... probably not.
  8. Who didn't see that coming. Craptastic game fellas. Campillo pwns the Brewers.
  9. Gameday is making Cooper's strikezone look horrible.
  10. Jorge seems to be mixing speeds quite effectively. 5 K's through 4. I get the feeling the Brewers are going to have to really scrape this one out.
  11. I pick the Brews to win the Central! 82% for the Cubs?!? Everyone knows the goat is on its way, why don't the numbers reflect the chokery?
  12. Some killer instinct would be bad news for my Brewer Fever. KILLER INSTINCT!!
  13. Have the Brewers ever done this? Doesn't seem possible.
  14. He is going to have to make the bullpen better in order to come back, and the Brewers need him to do just that.
  15. I have to admit my Brewer Fever has gotten much worse this past week. I'm afraid it may be a full-blown case if the Crew can take care of this rookie tonight. Good thing I have next week off just in case this gets any worse.
  16. Sheets is a true staff ace. It's going to be very sad for me to see him pitch for another team next year (especially if its for the Cubs). I guess I have no choice but to enjoy it while he's here.
  17. Good chance to gain on the Cubs and Cards tonight. I hope the right-handed line-up can take care of business tonight. Get hot Rickie!
  18. Those splits look to be those of a LOOGY. When did Yost make those comments?
  19. I am fascinated by where this thread has gone. I love numbers and finding creative ways to make them more meaningful. But isn't this thread really all about Braun not working the count, taking walks, and getting hit by enough pitches?
  20. Ned has been doing a fine job recently. Taking Soup out in the 2nd gave the Brewers a chance, and man did they have a ton of chances to score runs. The players *Bill Hall* really let him down in key spots. Tough loss. One more thing... does condescension and telling people that maybe they shouldn't be taken seriously because of their opinion cross the line for you? What I did say was, "I'm not sure I can take anyone who defends the Tavarez in the 12th decision seriously." I admit it could be construed as a tad harsh, but it was stated as my opinion and did not in any way tell other people to not take this position seriously. I feel better, Bucky, that you were not overly offended by this comment. I love the Badgers. I was just expressing my opinion and it wasn't even an absolute opinion. I just wasn't sure, but there was wriggle room to reverse my stance.
  21. My Vent -- I wish Yost would have rolled the dice with Branyan in this instance, especially given the game situation. I agree. Branyan is on fire, Bill Hall is in the freezer. I don't blame Yost for going to Hall, but I would rather have seen Branyan get the AB. Bill Hall is almost dead to me in regards to being an asset to the 2008 Milwaukee Brewers. On a slightly positive note, I don't think Hall could get any worse right now. I just wonder if he will ever pick it up again. Hall is so bad right now, it's starting to feel like a Sheffielding without the monstrous talent.
  22. Pitchers have adjusted to Bill Hall. He now normally sees one strike per AB, but still ends up striking out my estimated 90% of the time.
  23. I felt is was inside joke type funny. However, ESPN should know the Brewers have already had a no-hitter.
  24. TLB is right on the mark for mentioning the dangers of "absolutism." Many people suffer from this affliction. I really have no idea why I love this thread so much. I am banning myself for 3 days to reflect.
