  1. Bye bye there goes another lead Took the battle to the field But the field was not kind With good ol' fans screaming why oh why Could this be the day that I cry? Could this be the day that I cry? Don't know about you but i'm tired of seein' The likes of Jenkins, Hall, and Kevin Mench's Constant swinging for the fences On 00000000h and two pitches Nothing says battle more than That smile on the face of Ned when The boys in blue blow another lead
  2. I think most bf.neters are die hards, and man are we dying hard. I for one didn't throw anything around last night, but did affirm my position that this is just not the year for the Brewers. It's a shame because a lot of us thought it was one or two months ago. Just because I have almost given up on this season does not mean I am a bandwagon jumper. I had 20 game ticket packages during the Lopes/Royster era. Nothing screams die hard like attending a game in September when the likes of Jerry Royster is the manager. That said, I will continue to pay attention to the games, but I have stopped investing emotion and expectation into this team this year. It is simply a waste of energy IMO. As always I hope they turn it around, but I just don't see it happening until i see some kind of evidence. Will two straight wins against the Cubs do it for me? Probably. I am so fickle.
  3. This cannot happen here. That's a 1 week ban. Punching people seems like a negative act to me.
  4. I like the tone, and to offer a little more... at least Scrap Iron did know how to manage at one point in time. http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/grin.gif
  5. They lost all my respect on one play last night. Well, most of it anyway.
  6. This sounds sarcastic. When a team tanks the way this team has tanked, I fully expect people to get upset. Oh by the way, the Brewers aren't in first place anymore, and it wouldn't surprise me if they don't see first again in 2007. BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
  7. Bob Melvin uses the scrubs when they're in a game down several runs late, which has led to a lot of blowout losses (the main reason their run differential is so bad). From Melvin's perspective, if he brings in a reliever to pitch in a situation where it's teetering on the brink of a blowout, and he gives up runs, that pitcher's going to stay out there to at least eat up some innings to save his better relievers for another day, no matter how bad they are pitching. The Dbacks scrub relievers probably have zero confidence because of it, but at least they know that they have a role, and will continue to get opportunities to pitch, and pitch well. What a concept. Bob Melvin is an example of a good manager. Like other posters have said, defense and pitching are the key reasons. The manager and Brian Anderson are the intangibles.
  8. As a realist I would have to say no, the bottom will be hit when they are eliminated from playoff contention. Yost looks more and more scared with every camera shot, and will not be able to pull this team out of their funk. I honestly don't see them winning more than 15 games the rest of the way. I am going with the Johnny (Randy Quaid) pessimism from Major League II approach, "NO! You rotten bums! You overpaid weenies! Mild thing, you make my butt sting! I *detest* you! You're all garbage! All of ya! Back up the truck! Back it up!".
  9. Simply baffling. I wish Ned Yost would call in sick tonight.
  10. When the rules refer to a mature posting environment, they're referring to acting like adults rather than posting adult content. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Also note that when the cuss filter produces something like "$*++%," it's the responsibility of the poster to edit it out and replace it with appropriate language. This post gets a 'break' because: It directly quoted another message. The word in question was just added to the cuss filter a couple of hours ago. 1) The bolded item seems weird, because isnt it really "mature" adults that should be able to use psuedo foul language to emphasize a point. Sometimes I wonder about the rules and who and where they came from. IMO, people who don't want others to use fake poopy language are trying to mold and take care of younger children, which would contradict the environment portrayed by this rule (a place for adults). I'm all for banning naughty language, but fake naughty language? Really? Too far IMO. 2) The highlighted items are contradictory.
  11. (Note: as it directly refers to a cuss, "$*++%" violates forum language rules --1992casey) Lame When the Brewers win it is in spite of Yost If only the team would spite Yost 25 or so more times this year. Realistically though I think it will be more like the When they lose it is because of Yost comment for the rest of the year. Man am I becoming a badder fan the more i post in this thread.
  12. Although it is going to suck big time, I fully expect the Brewers to finish in 3rd and under .500. The roller coaster season is about to fly off the track. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/tired.gif
  13. Poop throwing probably indicates a "bad fan." http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/tongue.gif
  14. Talk to me about making a change after the season... I'll be a lot more receptive to that conversation when it actually means something. Good points, but it still doesn't make you a bad fan if you want the manager to be fired. I want the manager to be fired, but I just don't get all passionate about it. At the end of the day it's Doug Melvin's decision to make, and I have faith that he will make the right decision.
  15. So you think it is a legitimate call to fire a first place manager in the middle of a pennant race 40 games from the end of the season then? First let me say I am NOT one of the fans at the game screaming for the manager to get fired (although one of my friends is). However, I will gladly discuss in conversation my reasons for believing this manager should be fired - and there are many. To answer your question, ordinarily I would say no, its not a legitimate call. However, you have to take into account the track record of the manager in question. If a manager's track record suggests the team annually plays like garbage down the stretch, then I think it can be a legitimate call. Realistically, there is no way this manager gets fired before the end of the year. This team will sink or swim with the current manager (most likely sink given the history), and he will most certainly not be back next year.
  16. ...unless the team has a monumental implosion he's not going to get fired by the end of the year. And you say you were at the game last night? Unfortunately, I have been at many games and have seen most on TV, and the last 1 1/2 months seems to be a monumental implostion to me, IMO.
  17. The Indians split their series with the Tigers? This thread should be locked until there is an actual silver sighting.
  18. Simply put, no. If the manager at question: looks completely lost, cannot make decisions on his own, loses the interest of his players, cannot inspire his players, makes poor decisions routinely, patronizes fans to the point that he claims they don't "understand the game," and overall just doesn't get it... then only the good fans call for his firing. Its the bad fans that continue to apologize and feel sorry for the poor embattled leader. If you get paid to lead, and then precipitate to prove that you cannot do so, you should be fired. Plain and simple.
  19. The Brewer hitters to a man, swing for the fences on every swing. Every single swing!! It is starting to get embarrassing. My problem with the team right now is they look completely dispassionate. This is a reflection of the manager, Ned Yost. I need only go to last night for an example, when Ned was shown on camera giving a mercy clap with a bogus look on his face after Bill Hall hit his HR. I can't wait for Ned Yost to be out of the dugout, his style and vibe are KILLING this team.
  20. What is this great "track record" that Cappy has?! For a board that hates such small samples, are we seriously considering Cappy's 6 wins since last all star break a good "track record" He doesn't have it. Period. The man needs to go. I agree, there is no track record here. He simply has fallen completely off and can barely pitch 5 innings anymore. Braun could have made a good play on that grounder, but how many times does the defense need to bail Chris out? Walking and hitting batters, giving up base hits when he is ahead in the count, and just plain ineffectiveness calls for a demotion. 15 straight starts the Brewers have lost when he starts, how many more do we need?
  21. http://images.yuku.com/image/bmp/57c35e089d1f89b84252d64db01572e82601fe6.bmp This one mellow enough for you clues?
