  1. Well a lineup is not made by just putting guys in order of their average. You spread people out for speed and power reasons. You are not just going to stick the worst couple guys and the pitcher at the bottom of the lineup.
  2. Lucroy is not going to bat 2nd. Maybe a game somewhere but I highly doubt it. And if it happens it will not be for an extended amount of time.
  3. I am not sure what was so asinine about the decision. It has been a play for a long time now. If the bunt if a little more towards the line Hart walks in. Seems like a good option with Counsell at the plate. And yes, having those two back to back is quite nice.
  4. I will take Hart in the 2 spot but not Lucroy. But for now it will work and we I think we will really start to see what great pitching does for any lineup. Just score 4-5 runs and we are good to go.
  5. I think he is giving Hart some BP and more recovery time. Because watching him hitting does not look good. His at bats have looked ridiculous so no problem with a slow return. He will be in there full time very soon.
  6. Gomez had a great day and the brewers are probably going to win again. Why do we have to bag on Gomez today when he has had a great game?
  7. I am not sure Counsell in the 2 hole is any better than Gomez by the way. I am all for having Morgan in there.
  8. I find it impossible to hate Gomez. He plays with heart and desire. I will take gold glove defense and his effort on my team anyday. I will take that over above average offense and awful D. You really need to hit if you cannot defend.
  9. Just a bad stretch. It happens when you play 162 games. Its the opposite of our hot steak after the 0-4 start. Long way to go. And Yuni is not diving because he is not throwing the guy out even if he dives for that ball. That was on the other side of 2nd. And the game is already over. Funny the things people come up with in a game we have zero runs in and there is only one hit.
  10. I would rather have Gomez in as well. But everyone gets a day off I guess and the outfield will be different for both games of the doubleheader. If the pitching is good both games we get at least a split today.
  11. I don't think strike outs have anything to do with it. Liriano wasn't dominant but he throws everything with movement like Marcum. Even though the K's are not there, I think you have to look at what kind of contact was made. These pitchers have good games when there are alot of lazy fly balls and weak ground balls. But I did not see all of the game. I only saw the last inning and a replay of that awful call at first base.
  12. He is so horrible that he makes all the plays he needs to make and some he isn't supposed to.
  13. No the point is that he has not been bad at all. He may just be an average player but he is just fine seeing we have great hitters on the team and he just happens to be one of the average guys. And defensively we have all kinds of issues so we hope he limits the mistakes, which he has, and has made some good plays as well. Some will continue to look for anything to harp on the guy which seems like a waste of time. Some will defend him. But I am just hoping we can start winning games in bunches and get past some of this. It is funny how he has captured the BF.net folks and created this argument. But I will still never see how over this period (if there were not stats and previous judgements) you would kill the guy and say that he has be absolutely awful and is killing the team. I just have no idea if you have seen most or all of the games how you come to that conclusion.
  14. you do not bench a guy for trying. It may be stupid but bench him? We have not hit tonight and now everyone is looking to make excuses I guess. Just like the Wolf stuff earlier. Like he is the first guy to ever demand something in pro sports. Come on now.
  15. 16-13 for me but I will gladly take more.
  16. If Yuni is so awful I have no idea why Alcides is even in the league still then. He can barely keep his OPS at 600. His offense is way, way behind and his glove is slightly better. I would have thought the Royals would have cut him after the trade. Once Yuni has a 300 average all you are going to have left is the fact he doesn't make the spectacular play. Seeing he has made almost every play he should be making.
  17. Ok so you ignored the point that was made previously. So if his OPS is around .700 like his career average, is that ok? Because to improve your argument you keep using stats from 20 games this year. There are dozens of players that have a low OPS right now. The point is if the trade was not made, Escobar would be at SS for us and would not put up the numbers Yuni will this year. Escobar struggles to keep his OPS around .600. We know you hate Yuni. He has been fine in the field and his bat is just fine for the bottom of the order. As his average comes up and he shows a little power you will just complain about his defense or some play from weeks ago. But thankfully management doesn't listen to someone who has a thought from a blog and watches what is actually happening on the field.
  18. Well some bloggers and writers have said that he is the "worst everyday player" and I guess there are people who take those words and run. However most of those people have never played a sport much less baseball so you have to take those words knowing that. Nobody is arguing that he is stud but there are a number of SS, starting right now, that will not hit and field as good as he was. You can come up with all the silly stats you want and by the end of this year you will see that. The thing that puzzles some of us is how someone who claims to have watched the games can say he has hit and fielded "awfully" this far. It is simply not true.
  19. Just because you have an opinion doesn't make it right, especially when the overwhelming majority have a different opinion. Betancourt has been one of the worst full time players in baseball for the past 3 years, you can argue about this year all you want but the past 3 years it is pretty much the truth. Most players of his quality don't play every day or are young and get better with time. Betncourts' WAR the last 3 years is 0.4, -1.7, and 0.6. Cumulatively, not only should he not be starting, he shouldn't be on a major league bench. Well you showed exactly why this argument is silly. I may look up the dozens of others that have the same type of WAR ratings if that is what you are going to use. And that will show just how short sighted and blindly this debate is being looked at. But starting with Escobar and his .3, .6, and -.4, he is still considered a top prospect but Yuni shouldn't even be on a bench? This debate gets better everyday.
  20. I am assuming that everyone who posts on this board has watched the brewers last year. The thing I don't get is how you could watch Alcides last year and think that Yuni is not better than what he gave us last year. He has a much better bat and Alcides had 20 errors so you he doesn't have to be amazing in the field. He would still be our SS this year if the trade was not made and he is starting out just as bad this year. There was never a thread on him and I don't even recall people saying we needed him out of there or we needed an upgrade. So I suppose if you believe these blogs or rating systems that say Yuni is the worst player in the league, you need to actually watch some more baseball and not just believe a a certain post or line made in a blog. There are plenty of worse or more useless players than Yuni. And it's not even close.'
  21. I have been saying that all along. He is going to hit and he is doing just that. That average is getting up now to around where I expect him to be (.270-.280) and his defense has been just fine for me. If our pitching stays good, he will be just fine at SS. Plus add Hart, Greinke, and Morgan to the team and we will be in really good shape.
  22. I understand it fine, I disagree with it. His play hasn't really changed over the past week, the stats just regressed towards expectations. He is still a slow of foot SS who doesn't get to many balls and generally makes the plays on the ones right to him. He has been that all year long. I've watched almost every game this season and at no point has Betancourt looked like a good SS to me. I mean even Braun sometimes looks like a good LF for stretches of games because as long as he doesn't misread the ball or overthrow for a few games he at least displays some range, Betancourt looks like a bad SS every game, just sometimes the balls are hit right at him. I think the diving catch on the ball off of Mitre is the only play the entire season that I've seen him make that I thought to myself that more than 1 or 2 SS in baseball wouldn't have made that play. He makes the plays that every SS can make and then misses some plays that a lot of SS make. If you have watched everygame and this is the feeling you get, you have some serious blinders on. It does not even pay to talk about Yuni anymore because you have made up your mind on him and cannot get out of your own way. Not even close to an accurate description.
  23. Ya that line is good and he is putting up good "replacement" numbers, seeing he is only a replacement. That is why he is on the team. It sounds like you are coming up with reasons why he will sooner or later not have good numbers. We are not worries about that. He is replacing Hart until he comes back and putting up good numbers. Some people fail to realize this and complain like he will be playing 140 games for us this year.
  24. And who are these two "better players"? Kotsay has performed decently as of late whereas the rest of the bench has been trash. Morgan and now Boggs should be out there before KotsayKotsay has hit well so I have no idea why you would still be complaining about him. Morgan is hurt, get over it. Kotsay and Yuni have been pretty darn good and are not the problem. Move on already.
