  1. Yuni's bats are bad but Lucroy and Casey are just as bad. The hatred only goes towards Yuni however. This seems to be a game where we will not string hits together but the bullpen will be coming soon for the cards.
  2. I turned on the Cardinals broadcast at the end of last nights game to hear a bit from the other side. And I turned it on at the perfect time to hear the TV team talk about how back in 08 and 09 the brewers were winning with no class and untucking, and didn't have the pitching. But now we have the pitching and we are winning with class, I guess. I see them as a whiny bunch and just looking for a reason to hate another team. Get over yourselves. When even the TV team is still talking about it, it is pretty pathetic.
  3. I am fine with Loe. I am not sure I can trust Braddock in tight spots. He can be really wild and he can only get a fastball over the plate. He scares me more than Loe.
  4. Ok I guess I didn't explain myself the way I wanted to. We have made trades to bring the pitching staff to a much higher level to go along with a really good offense. In doing this we have brought our current payroll and future money owed to a level where I do not think it is realistic to think we are adding any big piece. We may make a deal or two to slightly improve but our team is not getting a Reyes or another big name to fill out the team. I guess what I was saying was this is one of the best brewer teams ever and I the complaining is just a waste of time. Because we are not making that big addition so you should get used to this team because this is the team we have for this year. I always refer back to the Giants last year winning the world series. They have comparable pitching to ours and their offense was way below what we have. So saying we cannot win anything with our current team is just wrong. If anything, I want them to add a bullpen piece more than anything. Some people mention losing games 3-2 and 2-1. Welcome to reality. We could add Reyes or whomever else people desire and there will still be 2-1 games. All star games are 3-2. And that is because pitching always wins.
  5. I am in the camp of thinking that a bench is not going to be that great on any team. The people listed, even on teams like the Yanks and Phils are nothing special. Chavez, Ruiz and Andruw Jones? And that is great? Yikes. Teams with the higher payrolls may have a guy that most teams could not afford on their bench but overall it is not a place to spend money. Like last night, these guys get put in one at a time (Kotsay for Hart) and just gives guys a rest. With everyone healthy, you put in Gomez, Counsell and Kotsay to spell a guy for a day but the lineup is still a tough one with the rest of the guys we have. For a small market, our lineup is really, really good and I have a hard time complaining about this team. This is really just drawing at straws here.
  6. Every game Narveson pitches just assume a loss and you will feel better about things. Estrada didn't help but he always seems to fall apart. Or just gets bombed from the start.
  7. We overpaid for Marcum? We gave up one prospect for a pitcher that is a 1 or 2 on any staff in the league. So no idea how we overpaid for him. Greinke you can debate but again, getting a top of the rotation guy for a light hitting SS, a prospect CF, and a couple more prospects is not a bad deal. Especially at this point. We will see what comes of Odorizzi but other than that I think we would trade for Greinke with those pieces whenever possible. Getting front of the line starters is not easy to do and to get two in one offseason is amazing.
  8. I will take 3 on this trip but with the pitching the way it is I think 4 is the minimum here. After that it is just a bonus.
  9. Looks like 15-12 to me.
  10. So is Carl Crawford. What's the point? Plush is out, Gomez is struggling. He is doing just fine for a fill in if you ask me.
  11. On the rockies telecast, that single by gonzalez was really close to Prince and he just gave up on it. The announcers were talking about how it looks as if he should have made that play.
  12. If Marcum isn't the ace of the staff I am not sure who is....I didn't think there would even be a debate about that. If he isn't, who is? I am very confused.
  13. Kotsay is staying around longer than Boggs. That is the reality that some must get in their head.
  14. Boggs is not good. Get over this crazy love already. People hate Gomez and all that he brings, and Yuni, but love Boggs? Just baffles my mind.
  15. Getting that goose egg off the board as early as possible was big. Like that play after being shutout. Sometimes that can get the pressure off and get things going.
  16. Nobody cares unless its Yuni or Gomez. Then they will be here with the the pitch forks.
  17. What did RRR do? Not run hard or not get a big enough secondary lead?
  18. That is a horrible play by the second baseman that is turned into a good play because of the poor secondary and Braun not thinking it was coming home. Wow!
  19. No, especially considering it is being mentioned in a game where we have no runs and few hits. The offense as a whole has been awful with guys on tonight. And I thought it was only that he was batting in the 2 hole?
  20. The middle of the order usually decides most of our games. Seems like tonight will be no different and so far they have come up empty.
  21. I love the long ball but I like Gomez creating a run just as much.
  22. Well a lineup is not made by just putting guys in order of their average. You spread people out for speed and power reasons. You are not just going to stick the worst couple guys and the pitcher at the bottom of the lineup. If every batter in the lineup got the same number of PA per game, you would probably be right. But every bump up in batting order position is about 18extra AB over a full season. Gomez will get an extra 100 AB betting 2nd instead of 8th. I don't care how fast he is, that is a losing strategy. But you do because of this book? I didn't bother looking at the link. Wow, if you aren't even going to try than there's really no sense in responding to your posts anymore. You already know everything. Gomez is not going to be in the 2 hole all year long. He was there because of injuries. Now that Hart is back, and once Morgan is back, he will be playing less and not be in the 2 hole as much. So those extra 100 AB's will never happen. The circumstances with the team have dictated the lineup such as Gomez in the 2 and Kotsay playing as much as he has.
  23. Well a lineup is not made by just putting guys in order of their average. You spread people out for speed and power reasons. You are not just going to stick the worst couple guys and the pitcher at the bottom of the lineup. Umm please elaborate, Im not sure you have any idea what you are talking about. There have been studies on this in the book, here is the summary: Your three best hitters should bat somewhere in the 1, 2 and 4 slots. Your fourth and fifth best hitters should occupy the 3 and 5 slots. 1 and 2 guys should walk more often. Then order in decreasing skill from 6-9. But you do because of this book? I didn't bother looking at the link. But managers assemble a lineup based on each players specific skills that allows them to move runners, steal bases, etc. The brewers lineup and every lineup follow the basic stuff that you listed and then you put the last 3 in an order of what you are looking to do. Each manager has a different idea on what he wants to do with his lineup. With the lineup the brewers have, Lucroy hitting 8th is not that crazy of an idea. He can still get on and have the pitcher bunt him over. Lineup is then turned over. Sounds good to me.
