  1. Well consider me as wanting plenty of other people than Hardy at this point. How can you make that argument now after seeing the guy cannot stay healthy? Why would you want him? So we can deal with finding a replacement every time he gets hurt, which is quite often? You can hate Betancourt all you want but don't act like Hardy is just this exceptional hitter either. He had a couple good years where he hit well but he was never elite so lets not act like we lost this stud. Some think Betancourt will put up close to 20hr this year and he only needs to get to 75-80 rbis to get to JJ level. And that is if he is ever on the field. But I am just tired of holding on to the past. He's gone and hurt again. I am excited about the pitching and coule care less about the postion players really. But obviously happy to have the lineup we have. But I keep saying that if the giants could win the world series with their lineup, we have nothing to complain about. It's about the pitching.
  2. Some people will never get over Hardy. But he was a mess for the Twins and now has continued with the O's. These same people are always going to hate Gomez. I love him and while he still has work to do, I love what he brings to the team. I love speed in baseball and I like him, Hart, Weeks, and Morgan in the same lineup. Betancourt has been fine and from what I see, the same people are never going to give Betancourt an ounce of credit or chance to prove himself. Somewhere in a fictional world, they can always make a better lineup by making a trade or picking up a different player. But in a small market you are simply unable to put stud players at every position like everyone always wants. Heck, the Red Sox and Yankees have role guys in their lineups and questionable pitching. We should feel pretty lucky with the team we have. Both sides of the ball, we are pretty solid. I enjoy the bashing of players but choose not to complain and simply cheer for my team instead of constantly finding things I don't like and root against certain guys.
  3. Are those worse than 5,6, or 7 pitch outs like Rickie's? Yes, because one pitch outs keep the pitcher's pitch count low (say that five times fast). That said, I don't mind if someone swings at a first pitch if it's a good one at which to swing. I mean, why let a meaty fastball down the middle go by and put yourself in %%$+@*? I don't remember what kind of pitch Gomez swung at, though. I am not worried about getting Casey Coleman out of the game so pitch count is not a concern right now.
  4. Are those worse than 5,6, or 7 pitch outs like Rickie's?
  5. Because he tested positive twice to McGwire's zero?
  6. There has not been a whole lot of reasons to be positive so far this season. "These people" (To whom are you referring?) enjoy the Brewers, hope for the best, and are excited about the pitchers too. There is absolutely nothing wrong with discussing the positives and negatives of this club. This would be a boring and overly homerish board if only the positives were discussed.
  7. There is so much negativity already all over this site and wonder why these people watch or pay attention to the brewers. I enjoy the brewers and hope for the best. I am excited about the pitchers we got and hopeful for this team. But all that is ever discussed is how bad Gomez, Betancourt, Nieves, and Kotsay are. Weeks was talked about like this just a couple years ago. But every teams has holes and we have a couple more because of injuries. Deal with it and enjoy the game already and lets get people healthy before we get so worked up. This doom and gloom everyday has to be tough way to watch this team.
  8. I will say that Morgan should be in right everyday till Hart gets back. Not only for a better bat than Kotsay but he can steal bases and actually cover some ground in the outfield. Plus he could hit in that 2 hole.
  9. Thank you OSUNIU. My thoughts exactly. If we would have won these games, we would be world series contenders. Now we may not win 60 and we should overhaul the lineup.
  10. These slow choppers that Casey doesn't make are made by just about every 3rd baseman even if they are playing as deep as he is. He is not fast enough to play that deep on a consistent basis and doesnt have the arm to make up for playing that deep. Add that to Braun's play and you have a 6-2 game. This is not Wolf's fault. You can't get 5 guys out an inning and not give up damage. Arroyo should have been the last out. t
  11. Casey is so slow at 3rd and simply cannot play as deep as he does. When you have no range you can't play back where he does and fail to make simple plays. 3 slow hit balls in 3 games and none of the plays are made. He has now cost us these two games probably with his awful defense and yet people continue to harp on Gomez and Betancourt. I don't see why these two take all the blame. Other guys have not hit either and have not botched easy plays.
  12. We are in the 3rd game of the year and people are already up in arms. Give it some times and just enjoy a few games before making these drastic changes. We haven't even had opening day in Milwaukee yet. Gomez may not be the best option for the 2 hole but what other options do we really have. Maybe in a bit Morgan will be there. Hart probably hits there when he gets back. Betancourt may be ok after a couple hitless games. All things that cannot be determined yet. Let's get a win today and all will be better....
  13. We are one game in and Axford blew one save. Offense will carry some games and he will save a few. Crew will be 14-12 at the end.
  14. While Trenni does a good job in her work with the brewers, she obviously wasn't good enough to keep her job at MLB network. And while Big Unit may not have been the best out there, I think she has shoes to fill here that is way over her head. Count me as never turning on 620 when she is on. There are other options out there and I think 620 needed to do better here. To the smaller stations I go.
  15. I think this is a steal of a deal. Great 4th OF option. Guy had a down year last year but overall the guys gets on base and can steal bases. He just causes problems on the bases and does a good job in center. I don't see how some don't like this move. When compared to Reed, its not even close.
  16. I think the fact that the BE got the 9th and 11th place teams to the sweet 16 is something. Top teams didn't do well but the lower teams did. That will happen in a tournament when matchups determine alot. But what it shows it how tough it was to win games in the conference. Some actually think Uconn has a good chance of advancing deep in this thing. I don't think you could say that about any other 9th place team in any conference. So shame on the top teams for underperforming but the depth is amazing in the league.
  17. If the brewer pitching stays solid they should be right there. Interleague is tough but Tampa is down a bit now and the yankees pitching is not as strong. It's just one of those stretches where we wil be happy with a 7-8 thru the 15 games. We will probably have another stretch like that during the season and that will not decide the season. Pitching holds the key to all teams and this brewer team will be no different. The offense may bail them out sometimes but over the course of the season the pitching needs to carry the team.
  18. The top 10 in the big east would all be ahead of anyone else but Ohio St in the big ten. And if the badgers went thru the big east they would have at double their 5 conference losses. Michigan St tied for 4th in the big ten. Big ten just has a bunch of average junk this year.
  19. I know alot of us were excited about the injury but I am not sure this is the way to go. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/23/reds-outfielder-jonny-gomes-celebrated-news-of-adam-wainwrights-elbow-injury/
  20. There is not much to say here. This is one of the dumbest comments ever to come out of an owner. I guess he doesn't realize that you need other teams to play which creates the market to make money. I just don't know what to say about it. This is the type of answer you get when someone is born with a silver spoon in his mouth and really has no clue how anything works. This is not the smartest statement.
  21. I would certainly sign one of the pitchers first. Then I would try to sign the other pitcher or find another pitcher. This game starts with that and that should be the first need every year. It's nice to have field players locked up but the brewers only have the ability to spend so much and I would focus most of it on the pitching. Having Braun, Weeks, Hart, and McGehee, I would look to fill other spots with low cost minor leaguers or free agents. That's just the way it has to be.
  22. I love the deal and cannot believe anyone would hate this. He is certainly no Hall and with teh way money is flying around in baseball this is not bad at all. This is the way it works. If players have good years and happen to be up for arbitration or free agency, they get paid. It's the way the business works. Weeks is a special player and while I understand the injury concern, I would hate to see him not in a brewer uniform.
  23. I moved from Milwaukee a couple years ago and MLB.tv has been great. I simply HDMI from my computer and it works great. I will say however that a strong internet connection is huge. There are times where the system must be busy and I do get some glitches. But overall it has been great. I get the premium just to have the option for both broadcasts and sometimes both teams are not broadcasting. And I guess the DVR option is ok as well. Other than that it is great to have the ability to watch the crew for 162 games.
