  1. First thing he told Mattingly was "we've got to find a way to play Adrian Gonzales in Center-Field"
  2. I'd like to see the Brewers shut down Jungmann, Nelson & Peralta for the rest of the 2015 season. The rest of these games are meaningless. Whatever experience & development those 3 pitchers can gain is far overshadowed by the fact that every pitcher has only so many bullets in their arm. The Brewers need to be forward-thinking. Shutting down their top pitchers of the 2016 season now, would really help their career longevity and health
  3. Do we know any of the confirmed offers for Prince Fielder prior to the deadline in his free agency year? It'd be interesting to look back at those offers to use our 20/20 Hindsight on decisions made (I'm glad they didn't trade Fielder, they were a Roenicke/Kotsay/Yuni B away from the World Series that year) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1226299-why-the-milwaukee-brewers-will-regret-not-trading-prince-fielder-in-2011 (edited for spelling)
  4. The Brewers are World Series contenders among AAAA teams
  5. And pitching. Can never have too much pitching Santana looks like an all or nothing prospect. He could be a 30 HR & .400 OBP guy. That would be awesome
  6. Brett Phillips and Orlando Arcia might be star players. Coulter has the potential to be a significant contributor, too Jungmann, Nelson, Peralta could develop more in 2016/2017 They need to draft smart. They need Gilbert Lara to develop. They need to invest wisely in International Players. Smart trades of veterans. That is how.
  7. Without the mercy rule you'd have final scores of 54-2 and 45-0 sometimes
  8. I'm optimistic for the future of the Brewers. I think they have a chance to really get this right, getting deep into analytics & sabermetrics. Revamp the front office with young, smart minds. Revamp the farm system. I think Brett Phillips is a tremendous prospect. They could get another great prospect in Round 1 of next year's draft, and more if they trade Braun and/or Lucroy and Lind. Just gotta get the right GM in place
  9. The Brewers are currently 4th in the "race" for the #1 overall pick: Marlins - 43 Wins Phillies - 44 Wins Rockies - 46 Wins Brewers - 47 Wins Red Sox - 49 Wins Reds - 49 Wins
  10. Kind of a weird trade at first glance but maybe they plan on trading Bourne & Swisher in the offseason or at next year's trade deadline?
  11. Braun isn't playing like the .940+ potential Hall of Famer, perennial MVP candidate he was before, but he is still very very good. He also has been very clutch in pennant races & playoff games in his career and is not the kind of player who shrinks in the spotlight at all. Despite the (relative) down years, he is still 26th All-Time in Slugging Percentage, right in between Ralph Kiner & Mike Piazza
  12. I sure hope they'll be significantly better. We need much more production out of LF (at least an .800 OPS in my opinion) if we are going to be a contending team I agree with that
  13. As much as I'd love to see the Brewers trade Lucroy I'd be hesitant to do so until the Brewers have a potential replacement
  14. Khris Davis in his last 700 at-bats spanning 2014-2015: .239/.305/.443/.748 104 OPS+ He's exactly the type of LF one might expect on a last place team. Completely expendable
  15. Forgive me: isn't Mark the very definition of "meddling"? Did I miss something? (Meaning that sincerely even though it sure reads condescending. Not intended that way)
  16. It is also easy to forget how brutally bad all 3 were on defense at level.
  17. Brewers now only have 3 more wins than the Phillies. Starting to close that gap on the #1 overall pick
  18. Tough to answer as we know how Fielder-Braun-Weeks turned out. I thought Weeks had Hall of Fame potential and his MiLB stats pointed in somewhat that direction. I think Fielder/Braun vs Schwarber/Bryant is a wash although Bryant looks like he could stick at 3B while Braun couldn't. Russell is an amazing fielder though which is something the other 5 never had..... tough to say but I might lean towards the Cubs' players. Schwarber has a ton of potential. He reminds me of what I imagine Jimmie Foxx was....
  19. I sincerely believe that they tried to trade Lucroy but they were far apart with potential trade partners as to the value of Lucroy. Lucroy has a .668 OPS this year. He has a .316 OBP It is reasonable to be concerned that he is no longer one of the best Catchers in Baseball. Hopefully he can have a fantastic 2nd half and re-up his trade value, if the Brewers really do want to trade him Honestly I'm amazed at the haul we got back for Gomez (recognizing that Fiers added value in the trade) considering that Gomez has reverted back to his career norms after career years in '13 & '14
  20. No way Jungmann should have gotten to 112 pitches tonight. I really hope the Brewers don't overtax his arm
  21. Various possibilities: 1) They have a Team Option for the 2017 season with Lucroy and think they could win in 2017. 2) They think they could get a better haul for Lucroy trading him in the offseason
