  1. If we wanted a legitimate shot to compete this year, you had to make this signing. Our rotation was basically Gallardo and a bunch of #4 starters. That wouldn't get it done.
  2. Well, they got the middle infielder in Gonzalez.
  3. Fitting way for the season to go down in flames.
  4. And not to be dramatic, but if this IS the case, there goes that 1 in 20 shot we still had. Which sucks, but I'm almost as excited about how this team came together down the stretch than the prospect of making the playoffs. And if it's something that forces him to change how he throws in ANY way, change his delivery, or is as someone else speculated was actually an arm injury, elbow, shoulder, then I don't see any plausible way you throw him again this year. He's not a guy like Marcum, and the Brewers are too smart to throw him out there again with a sore shoulder or elbow simply to try and complete their miracle comeback. Peralta only had one start left and it is against a crap team. Him missing that start doesn't completely ruin any chance at all.
  5. Peralta because people who can throw upper 90's just don't grow on trees. Hopefully he can get an effective third pitch and become the #2 behind Gallardo. It is probably a pipe dream, but you never know.
  6. STL won, PHI won, and LAD split. Rough night for the crew, but a win is a win. Tomorrow will hopefully be another.
  7. Well, when your team is going down the tubes and you're one of six people in the stadium, you might as well "woo" to your heart's content.
  8. As we have seen countless times, EVERY run counts for this team. Once our bullpen hits the mound (yes, it has been better as of late), we can't score enough insurance runs. And it is statistically high that you will score with a guy on third and 0 outs. Probably the same statistical probability as getting thrown out in that scenario. Definitely not worth the cost of potential injury.
  9. I hate sending Gomez there. 0 out... and too high of a risk for injury with a home plate collision (especially the way Gomez plays)
  10. Could gain another game here if the Crew wins. 3 GB? YES WE CAN.
  11. Wait... what?
  12. TV contracts are definitely not a reason the gap is closing. The gap is widening because of TV contracts. And significantly.
  13. I'm not sold on Gamel being any good, but at this point you might as well ride it out. He doesn't really have that great of trade value currently.
  14. Greinke won't be coming back when he sees a $160+million deal from another team. And we all know that's coming as long as he plays like he has for the rest of the season.
  15. Brooks Conrad and all .081 of him trying to get us a basehit. See you tomorrow, folks.
  16. whew... that looked like a rocket up the middle off the bat..
  17. Pitchers' starts are measured in increments of 5 for obvious reasons. Also, comparing Delmon Young to this situation is beyond silly. Young hurled a bat at an umpire. Lawrie threw his helmet on the ground and it nicked the umpire. Big difference. And I'm hardly a Lawrie fan.
  18. I love the normalized strike zone for the ump in that game. He wasn't even making many incorrect calls.
  19. I'm guessing this guy just doesn't know how to pitch rather than hitting people on purpose.
