  1. On the bright side, we can lose 61 more times and still win 100 games.
  2. Making it weirder... Spectrum terrible customer service strikes again!
  3. Genius reply:
  4. Winning games 7-6 while wondering if we might run out of pitchers is way more fun than winning games 2-1 and being afraid we're going to get no hit for half the game. Hook has his work cut out for him with this staff, but we already knew that.
  5. Investigating the transfers should be pretty easy if they are indeed wires (vs. ACH transfers). No bank is going to let $500,000 wires go through without additional authorization. Possibly a phone authenticator, but probably even a recorded phone call to/from the bank to the account owner to verify.
  6. Nice to win these two without Kolek against desperate teams that both may have needed to win to get in. We never even made it to a single Big East Tournament championship game before Shaka. Now back for the second year in a row. Ending the long-standing tradition of Marquette crapping the bed in the conference tournament is one of his nicest accomplishments. There's something about getting that Saturday night game in the Garden.
  7. It's making a bet he can have some productivity in 2025. I can't think of a player more worth betting on than Woody.
  8. I despise Fanatics. Dirty move they pulled to acquire Topps as well, so I'm sure baseball card quality won't be trending upward either.
  9. Kind of like getting the pick compensation for losing Burnes early, with the plus of two guys who will be expected to contribute this year and many more. Seems ok for one year. Though I'm usually not a fan of "Major League-ready" returns, I'll trust Hook to make something out of DL Hall.
  10. I both hate and love the Baseball HOF difficulty. That there are obvious greats omitted is frustrating. But the Football HOF is the other extreme and seems to let everyone in.
  11. Pricing and availability at a later date. Interested to see if they'll be available if you're out of market. Bally doesn't provide currently (only local teams), so have to use MLB.TV. And if Amazon changes anything from the in-market Bally or out-of-market single team MLB.TV rates, which are both $19.99/mo.
  12. I prefer Arnold's collection of guys with ERAs over 6 (in limited samples) over his collection of guys recovering from Tommy John. Especially at a low cost, I don't mind this at all.
  13. Why not just non-tender Houser and Taylor? Do we get kickbacks from Tommy John doctors for taking on their patients or something?
  14. I remember that it seemed like Arnold was collecting guys with 6 ERAs at this time last year as well. A couple actually worked out ok. Enjoy your collection, Matt!
  15. I hate the Dodgers. That is all.
  16. Also on board with a league minimum / Henry or Navarreto type guy. Given our resources, backup catcher is not where we should spend money when the starter is the best position player on the roster and our #2 project (top 40 overall) could be up later in the year.
  17. It's a fun brainstorm. What about doing more of a "kickoff" tournament coming out of spring training? Like maybe every few years, not in WBC years. The teams are already fairly close together in two locations, then there's a Cactus-Grapefruit championship game. You can probably get away with a single elimination, with one team in each location getting a bye in the first round.
  18. Good answer. This same "problem" came up last year. Yet Blake Perkins logged 400 innings in the outfield, Wiemer couldn't be taken out of the lineup despite complete offensive futility, most have probably already forgotten the month of Raimel Tapia, and we had to make a trade for Canha at the deadline. We can trade outfielders from a position of "strength" when the outfield is not among our greatest weaknesses.
  19. $100 cash would have been a better return. But this is of little consequence either way.
  20. Eh, the thing with these "heir apparent" situations is there's a low chance they ever come about. Could be Murph is successful and keeps going so another team plucks Weeks if he proves to be good, everything is such a train wreck that they start over completely, or a dozen other things.
  21. Weeks is intriguing. Hands-on experience may be short, but given he's third generation of a baseball family the ins and outs of the game are second nature to him. Plus the Weeks "you know" vs. Sophia "he said" battles in interviews would be epic.
  22. Saying all the staff are staying seems like a dumb statement to make unless they've already decided they are promoting from within. Unless they're totally incompetent, an external hire will pick his staff.
  23. Facts. The whole "resetting the market" doesn't hold up to simple supply and demand. There are about five managers who have shown they may be worthy of big dollars versus the pay of Generic Managerial Candidate, and two of them are 68 years old and not about to be offered a 10 year deal elsewhere if their current club doesn't pay up. T
  24. Trade Burnes somewhere likely to throw the money at him now or you know where he's going in 2024.
  25. Does that mean we trade and get Ross? I'd be ok with that.
