  1. Got to like when a guy like Monasterio would be easy to option keeps playing himself onto the roster. Similar for Bryce Wilson - last guy in the pen and seemed like a likely DFA to start the season but earned his spot.
  2. I'm not sure I've ever seen both teams and their manager complaining that they want to play and mocking the umpires about how little it's raining.
  3. Wilson making sure someone calls Andrews an Uber since they'll have to have another arm up now.
  4. After the last four innings of constant no hit alerts, what's BA going to talk about for the next three?
  5. Yelli's been earning his contract.
  6. While much of the assessment was legitimate, I don't know what to do with this line... I need a modern, inspired way to go take a leak in the middle of the fifth.
  7. Let me know when we have four good outfielders and Yelich is the fifth. As of now, we have no good outfielders.
  8. The playoff win and his tendency to give up the big inning will always be how I remember Dave Bush.
  9. This looks great for us. We get a strong bat, a bullpen arm whose ERA was below 6 last year, and a bullpen prospect. And give up an outfielder, while we still have three outfielders at the MLB level or ready to debut that look like better prospects than Ruiz at this point, and still may not have the roster spots for them. If the A's strike gold with Ruiz, good on them.
  10. Just here: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/35165812/mariners-acquire-2b-kolten-wong-brewers
  11. Ok trade. The money used to pick up the Wong option and turn it into Winker to acquire a DH is better than bringing in another McCutchen type overpriced free agent. Toro is depth with low risk. Door now officially opened for Turang. Still, not a big, necessary move, so interesting that they're noting the possibility that Winker could be flipped.
  12. I haven't even been able to re-watch any Game of Thrones since the last season was so bad it gave me no desire to see any of it. Heard good things about House of the Dragon and decided to give it a try. It's very good. Not sure how much momentum it can keep and not feel like rehashing the same stuff over and over again, but so far it's enjoyable. Daemon and the Sea Snake were awesome characters in the book, and they're also the two best in the show so far.
  13. Ruiz has a 17 game hitting streak, and Gasser just pitched himself up to AAA. Not a bad infusion of talent.

  15. What was the purpose of adding Reetz to the 40 earlier this month? He was immediately optioned then, and now DFA'd. Also, why free up a 40-man spot for someone who wasn't even good enough for one while on PEDs? Lastly, Cousins has been on rehab assignment in Nashville for three weeks. So waiting on a 40-man spot for him while Strzelecki and Kelly came up doesn't appear to be a theory that holds. I just don't understand any of this.

  17. I'm more eager to see what Reetz can do. If Omar is out a couple weeks and with roster expansion, he's in line to get a fair audition for next year.
  18. Hiura should never have been sent down to maintain the three catcher shenanigans. Lamet should never have been acquired. If "balance" was required, we could have just picked up part of Hader's salary. That Lamet was active and in uniform while Bush was at the park and inactive last night just makes Stearns look silly. These two things have now been corrected with these moves, but sheesh.
  19. Was just reminded of this zinger from Brett Anderson while he was pitching for us last year.
  20. Big fan of EVT. Pays ~6.6%, all of it qualified dividends, and has a weak correlation with the market so the price has also appreciated by about the same 6%+ historically.
  21. Not convinced this is an upgrade over Gustave for last man in the pen. Feels like one of those times Stearns makes a trade for the sake of it. Not that he would be the first to be blessed by Chris Hook upon arriving and end up being pretty good.
  22. Been doing a Star Wars start to finish watch through. Watched the last season of Clone Wars as it came out so it's taken some time but I'm back up to A New Hope now. I think I like Clone Wars overall more than when I first watched it, and the last arc was really great. Rebels wasn't quite as good as Clone Wars, but I still like it.
