The Rockies pitching is much more appealing to me than potentially having to face three formidable lefties (Lester, Quintana, Hamels). Our bullpen can shut down the Colorado offense, no problem.
I don't find any of this strange. He wasn't at the ballpark the other week because he was in the midst of a day-to-day injury and probably being treated for it. You probably wouldn't sit in the bullpen/dugout if you had a migraine headache, much less neck spasms. He was at the park today and in uniform, just wasn't available probably because he's pitched a lot lately and we were planning on a big game tomorrow.
If you're talking overall seasons, don't forget Ben Sheets in 2004 (237.0 IP, 2.70 ERA, 2.65 FIP, 8.0 fWAR) 1978 Mike Caldwell was probably even better if you go by ERA-based WAR (293.1 IP, 2.36 ERA!!)
Yelich RBI single to score Arcia. Maybe it's because of our bullpen but for some reason it just seemed like the momentum was on our side the rest of the game after that, even after the Cubs tied it temporarily.
Because in close playoff games, Broxton won't play. He can't hit. If there's an injury to an OF, Broxton can be an injury-replacement. I'd probably keep Santana before Broxton or Thames. I had 1 spot left. I just hope it isn't Barnes or Williams I don't think it's fair to say Broxton can't hit when he went 20/20 last season, and is one of the only guy on the bench who hits LHP well. He's a borderline major league starter because of his AVG/OBP issues, but perfectly fine off the bench in my opinion. And his defense saves games.
We bizarrely don't get credit for being a "surprise" team, even though we were supposed to still be in a rebuild and our pitching staff is anchored by Jhoulys Chacin. Lots of people were putting us fourth in the NL Central before the start of the season.
So impressed with Arcia today. He smoked all four of his hits, they weren't cheapies. Can we have this version all next season (and over the next few weeks), please? Chacin stepped up big too. And let's not forget about Gio yesterday!
