  1. the explanation is the Braves and Cubs have more resources than the Brewers. I know that's not an explanation people want to hear, but that's the explanation. It is amazing to me how quick Brewer fans are to bail out management by saying they don't have any money, you can't expect them to compete with the Atlanta Braves!! We are a small market team. Draft and develop. Man, I want to own a team in a market where the fans are like we just can't afford anybody. It's unbelievable. We’ve been bad at draft and develop for a long time. That’s the issue. We’re doing just fine adding supplemental free agents- although one who pitches might have been nice this year (outside of a basically free Gonzalez)
  2. I'm pretty sure almost everyone on this board wanted Coles fired at some point last season. I don't see what Johnson would have done with the Brewers pitchers that would help this year. It is entirely possible Burnes and Peralta are the same pitchers with Johnson as the pitching coach. The narrative just changes then to is Johnson just a one year wonder. Coaches are scapegoats and nothing more in baseball at least for fans. I think the pitching coach's importance is actually underrated around here-for the younger guys, that is. I know my results were often night and day simply with a guy that can point out a release point, falling off towards first, or even just make you laugh and calm down. Knowledge is likely all the same, it could just come down to personality.
  3. Who’s gone first, Shaw or hook? Maybe we can switch their job titles and see if things get any worse?
  4. I’m betting there’s more out there that hader could fetch. Every other team is nuts about him. If he’s pitching once a week for a mediocre ball club you have to flip him if you could fill multiple roster holes with big time talent.
  5. Josh hader is going to start rotting down in that bullpen. One can only dream the package he’d bring back at the deadline.
  6. You bring up a lot of great points. While in game Threads are in the moment venting, there are Some serious roadblocks to a World Series quality team that many see. I think the “it’s all gonna be great just enjoy the ride” camp simply doesn’t have the same expectations or requirements for this to be an enjoyable season. It’s great to recognize that while you might be enjoying a mediocre squad who might sneak into the playoffs- after last year many of us expect an all in approach. That’s the same reason I struggled to watch the packers for so long. Just being “good enough” when you’ve been good enough for a long time isn’t enjoyable. You need to try to improve every year and If you fail at that, retool- don’t just sit around and waste an Aaron Rodgers/ Christian Yelich talent.
  7. well, I had hoped this game would not suck and I would be able to watch it. 0/2. There are quite a few players on this roster that just need to wake up. You can't just sit on your hands-it's something different every night and finding ways to lose. Boo. and boo again.
  8. They're cursed against crappy teams, apparently.
  9. Looks like all three teams have multiple huge holes. It's ugly right now.
  10. We may just be a team of Yelich, Woodruff, Hader and everyone else-but man it feels good to know there's a plus starter taking the mound every five days.
  11. MLB.TV will do national games. In this case, San Diego is considered your "local" market. Much like DC/Baltimore for me, despite being a good five hour drive away from DC. If you have the Opera browser (easiest) or another VPN method it'll show a different location to let you view. Thank you for that explanation. How some one would consider Tucson in the San Diego market is so far beyond reason... glad I cancelled it. I'll have to do radio until the stretch run.
  12. well, two straight blacked out. Have both of these games really been on national tv? If so, why? I'm finally breaking free from mlb.tv. Is there an alternative yet?
  13. Since I’ll actually get to watch this, it’s a lefty, and he’s making his debut; I’m gonna be shocked if this west coast slide doesn’t continue. Please beat a team you’re supposed to
  14. A good game from both Aguilar and Chacín as others have said will go a long way towards our mental stability. Then, we just have to worry about the lack of pitching on the market this deadline. Sheesh. Here’s to houser becoming Knebel.
  15. Braun is hitting. 264. I don't know what superstars are hitting under .250, but a 270 batting average is a bad bar to use to judge his performance. I never said his bat is a huge concern. Again, people just don't want to hear it a hint of negativity on Braun. Complete agreed. Even when was was around .200 at the break last year people flipped out. I’m one of 500 posters to make one comment about the guy and it’s a full on bee colony attacking. It’s weird. He’s ok. We can talk about him sucking when he sucks. We’re not kicking a puppy when pointing out the obvious .
  16. Yes, I'm almost shocked he's still hitting so poorly. Imagine this lineup if Shaw, Jesus and Cain were hitting like last year. Shaw’s replacement is waiting in triple aaa. Thames is doing well taking Aguilar at bats so far. Cain just needs to start hitting. But Shaw's hacks are gritty. How are they not beneficial?
  17. Yes, I'm almost shocked he's still hitting so poorly. Imagine this lineup if Shaw, Jesus and Cain were hitting like last year.
  18. I honestly don’t see how this staff improves . There are no good trade options and no one really to promote. I don’t understand how everyone brought up or carried over sucks together. We keep trotting our the 6+ era guys everyday and can’t keep games close. How is our record so good?
  19. One run against pathetic pitching, 22 runs against a pathetic offense. Nothings wrong though! To quote Ned yost “billy will be fine”
  20. I’m getting ready for the “our pitching isn’t that bad, you guys always overreact” posts.
  21. There’s a problem and a very obvious solution. After last year you’d think mark A is pretty disgusted at the bullpen meltdown.
  22. What on earth is going on? I would qualify a game like this against a team that doesn’t want to win unacceptable, but that’s just me.
