  1. Our hitters not showing much discipline thus far. Braun K's on a pitch at eye level. ***?
  2. He's at about a 720 OPS since he folded his ankle in half. His serious ankle injury carried over into 2012. It took a while to heal, but once it did, he was the Rickie Weeks of old. From July 25th until the end of the season (65 games), Rickie had an .850 OPS. During that span, he batted .282 with 47 runs scored, 12 home runs, 30 RBI, and was successful in 10 out of 13 stolen base tries. He had a .360 OBP and a .488 SLG. So, no, he's not been a .700 OPS guy since his injury. A lot of our guys are in a slump right now, and they will work their way out of it. Rickie included.
  3. The Brewers lost again last night, and now we're 2-8. We've lost eight of our last nine. We haven't scored in 26 innings. The hitters aren't hitting, and the pitchers aren't pitching. Buck up, everybody. We are going to turn this around. I guarantee it!!! And to those of you that might be thinking that the season is over, I have one thing to say... http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4063/belushibrewer.png What? Over????? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is!!!!!!! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now! Cause when the going gets tough....the tough get going. Who's with me???
  4. I've posted this before, but it seems appropriate given our season thus far. http://williamgregory.net/images/pool.gif
  5. All my autographed cards are in Ultra Pro One touches (various sizes, from 35pt for the Chrome autos, up to 130 pt for things like Museum or Topps Tribute). Sometimes there's a little extra room, as some card sizes just don't have a perfect holder. So, I'll fold a penny sleeve over, and put it behind the card to keep it in nice and snug. Cards are all then boxed. I don't display them, I can look at my scans
  6. It's awesome because even with the technical glitches, it allows me to watch my Brewers play (which, granted, is not a real treat right now). And it allows me to watch every baseball game. I've been having some intermittent "loading" popping up. It happened three times tonight during the Brewers game. I have Verizon FIOS with 55-60 Mbps download speed. I disconnected it from the router, unplugged the power, and plugged it back in, didn't notice any issues after that. But for what I'm paying ($25 a month) on top of the internet, I should have no issues. None. At almost 60 meg, I should have crystal clear picture 99% of the time, and right now, I do not. I catch it going out of high def once in a while, and that's completely unacceptable to me with that kind of connection speed, and on an ethernet cable. I will research this, or Verizon and/or MLB will feel my wrath.
  7. No, he's really not. His numbers suggest otherwise. http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/9665/weeksclutch.png These are his career splits (not including tonight's game, of course, as Baseball Reference has not updated yet). In his career, with two outs and runners in scoring position, Rickie Weeks is a lifetime .215 hitter with a .671 OPS. In games that are late and close, Weeks is a .233 hitter. In high leverage situations, again, Weeks is a .215 hitter. Leverage defined by Baseball Reference.com: Rickie Weeks is about as far from being a clutch hitter as is humanly possible.
  8. Ladies and gentlemen, the disparity in Major League Baseball. The A's charge players $1 for soda, yet everybody at Busch gets a free harmonica.
  9. The Brewers trying to catch the Houston Astros for the MLB lead in strikeouts apparently.
  10. http://l.yimg.com/a/p/sp/editorial_image/98/9839f0b8ac8e6c8f8dc3047245a7eece/yuni_betancourt_says_language_barrier_shelters_him_from_criticism.jpg "Missed it by dat much." It's ok, we can gripe about him all we want. The language barrier shields him from criticism.
  11. I don't get the logic in putting Axford in for the 8th. He's just lost his closer job. He's not getting ANYBODY out. I know! Let's put a guy with no stuff, and completely lost confidence, in with a lead in the eighth instead!! If you cut cancer out of somebody's body, you don't stick it back somewhere else, hoping it doesn't spread. Axford should not be pitching ANYWHERE in a MLB game right now. He's not going to magically get better because you've changed his job in the pen. He needs to either go down to Nashville to figure out how to pitch again, or he needs to be off the team.
  12. They're both equally bad. Two inept clowns that are flushing our season down the toilet before we're out of April.
  13. Realistically, we could be 1-7 right now. If we don't get a wind change last night, that drive by Castro in the ninth is a grand slam, and the Cubs win 8-7. God, I am so freaking pissed right now.
  14. Ya, seems like a long time since Prince Fielder left Milwaukee. Ah, the good old days, when we had Prince batting 4th every single game, year after year.

  17. As I am watching yesterday's game for the first time on MLB.tv, I've got a few other things to be positive about. Things that give me a lot of hope that we'll not only weather this storm, but get back into contention. The Brewers are manufacturing runs without the long ball. In seven games (three without Braun, all of 'em without Corey Hart, a couple now without Ramirez and Segura), we're still 15th out of 30 teams in scoring. And that's with only 5 home runs. And we're really not stealing bases yet as a team. Two thus far into the season. You have to figure that Segura, Aoki, Gomez, Braun, Aoki and Schafer will all have double digit steals, so when we start running, that will help us create more runs. Nori Aoki's signing before last season paid off last year, and I think he's going to be even better this year. He's really seeing the ball well. I think he hits .300 this year. And while our pitching has been terrible thus far, I'm liking what I'm seeing from Marco Estrada. 10.5 K per 9 IP is a nice start, and a 1.25 WHIP after two starts is about where I expect him, maybe slightly higher. It's easy to get down after a 1-5 start, and I'm as guilty as anybody. But this is a long season, and if last year's finish showed us anything, this team has a lot of fight in it.
  18. There's a lot of things to be positive about. When his neck isn't bothering him, Ryan Braun is putting up Ryan Braun numbers again. Batting .500 right now. Not too shabby. Ramirez was looking good before tweaking the knee. The thing that really encourages me the most is the step forward Jean Segura has seemingly taken at the plate. This kid is going to be a star, all there is to it.
  19. Bikeage, I am very leery about dropping that kind of scratch on a box of extra thick Topps cards. The cards themselves are nice, but they've had all kinds of quality issues. Horribly messed up corners, edges, etc. Five Star last year was a disaster. I wait for people to drop hundreds on a couple of boxes, then cherry pick the cards I want from Ebay. I'm willing to pay a little more when I can see a high quality scan, and know what I'm getting.
  20. I don't think that anything in this thread suggests panicking. We've only failed to reach .500 twice in the last five years, and one of those seasons we went 80-82. So I don't envision us suddenly plummeting off of a cliff. But when we have a starting pitcher pinch hitting in the bottom of the 11th inning with the game on the line, and when we have an average at best career shortstop starting at first base when there are several options in the minors that have actually been playing the position for a while, the construction of the team's is a valid point of discussion.
  21. They're taxed. Yes. We are carrying more pitchers than we should be, and they're still overworked. Maybe, just maybe our manager is clueless as to how to manage a pitching staff?
