  1. http://dkonpittsburghsports.com/2015/04/14/on-the-scene-give-a-j-a-hand-anyone/ Burnett’s counterpart, Shane Greene, pitched eight innings without an earned run for the second time in as many starts, and he held the Pirates to three hits. But they came away barely impressed. “Luck,” one player told me. “And help, too. He had lots of help.” That was one of my many derisive references in the clubhouse to home plate umpire David Rackley. “I give the guy credit for throwing strikes and being in the zone,” another player said. “But he got all the help in the world. That was a big part of this.” Of Greene’s 81 pitches — 10 per inning — 58 were called strikes. I guess pitchers have been lucky against he pirates the last week as they lead the league in strikeouts with 78 on the season. BTW, our brewers sit at 26th in the league in K's with 51.
  2. Lets also remember, maintain maximum level of optimism in this thread!! If you feel a case of the negatives coming on please find literally any other thread on this board! Thank you, lets all enjoy some postive mental attitudes! Don't care what they may say we got that attitude. Don't care what they may do we got that attitude. Hey we got that PMA (positive mental attitude). Hey we got the PMA. Hey we got the PMA.
  3. One game at a time baby, one game at a time!
  4. Well will you look at that? .500 baseball since the opening series!! The Brewers beat Wainwright, at home, at their home opener, the gods are with us! I don't know 'bout you guys but I am feeling pretty darn good about this team! Braun, Luc, Lind, Davis, Rami, Scoots, siggy, Gomey? I mean com on how can you not be pumped?!? Loshe, Willy, Jimmy, Garzy, Mikey? Awww baby I am feelin' that! and if ANYTHING can make you feel good its this!
  5. this whole, scoring on Wainwright thing, I could get used to this
  6. I just realized that this month every game besides the Colorado series is against the NL central. I dont know, has the schedule ever been that loaded with one division before? I know September typically is a month of division games, but I dont know if April is typically like that too?
  7. THIS!!!!! and steroids/PED/HGH could be FAR more dangerous in a full on contact sport than in baseball.

  9. Absolutely. Look at his contract starting in 2016. 2016: $20M 2017: $20M 2018: $20M 2019: $19M 2020: $17M 2021: $15M or $4M buyout I think you need to go investigate what other OF'ers are getting per year to put into perspective what $20m a year actually is... and this is with 3 years still to go on other OF contracts out there... his $20 mil is not going to look that bad in 2018. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/league-info/highest-paid-players/ Average annual value The highest-paid players in baseball history, by average annual value: 1. 10. wait, someone other than Braun/Arod used steroids?!!? my premise is that, as a pittsburgh resident and buccos fan, the world was ending last May when the Pirates went 10-16. Yes, looking at everything now, the Pirates had/have a better team, but last May few had any optimism with the team when they were 10 games back in Mid may.
  11. it stinks the brewers are 1-5 right now, but all you have to do is look at last year and see the pirates went 10-16 in April and ended up having 88 wins and a playoff game. Milwaukee would need to win 7 games to match that winning percent (8-14 for April) with 2 fewer games in the month. I THINK they can win more than 7 games in the next 3 weeks against the NL Central...
  12. he is playing in the states this year, he is not going to the Dominican league.
  13. its only been one week. everyone take 3 steps back from the ledge, take a couple deep breaths and repeat after me "R-E-L-A-X".
  14. dont worry, he really doesnt have a shot to make the Pirates with Alvarez/Hart/Lambo making 1B.
  15. lets not forget that pitchers are sometimes told to only throw one or two pitches for an entire ST outing to work on the pitch, and is sometimes why they get hammered like this. Not saying thats why Nelson got shelled, but when a batter sees breaking ball after breaking ball they know what to expect and can key on it like batting practice.
  16. And you are adamant about it too. lol
  17. yeah, my guess its Gomez, Jimenez and Clark on the bench on 4/6, but I dont think it'll take long to see Rogers up if Clark struggles in limited at bats and starts.
  18. In my opinion, those Chinese jerseys are the worst. I bought a few back in the day - a Greinke road jersey and a couple Packer ones - and will never wear them again. They look so cheap compared to the authentic/replica ones that it's really easy to spot them in a crowd. I've started moving away from wearing jerseys in general. I'd rather buy "team" gear that will never go out of date. As for personalized jerseys, I think they're pretty cheesy but to each their own. If you really want a jersey, I'd stick to either a retired player or a blank one. I compared my three to other "official" MLB jerseys (also made in China, BTW), and they're identical other than loose strings that you can cut, and maybe some bleeding dye on the MLB patch down by the bottom/beltline of a jersey.
  19. So we now know which 2014 Dominican Summer League players are currently stateside in Maryvale. That means it's likely, but not a guarantee, that each will remain in the U.S. and will debut with either the Arizona Rookie or Helena team this June. PITCHERS LHP Joan De La Cruz, 20 years old, 6'3", 12 starts last year in 3rd year in system RHP Marcos Diplan, just 18 years old, prized acquisition in the Yovani Gallardo deal, click for his excellent numbers RHP Orlando Torrez, turns 23 in April, rewarded after four summers in the Dominican, congrats to him POSITION PLAYERS SS Gilbert Lara - 17 years old (great photo here) - Little surprise that the $3.2 million bonus baby would begin stateside, since he did well in fall instructionals. 2015 will mark formal pro debut. CF Nicolas Pierre, 18, $800,000 bonus, showed nice pop in his rookie DSL campaign SS Franly Mallen, 18 in May, also signed to an $800,000 bonus, didn't excel in his first go-round on the island (.618 OPS in a tough environment for offense) OF Joantgel Segovia, 18, right-handed slap hitter from Venezuela posted an incredible .384/.457/.446 line as a 17-year-old rookie, winning the DSL batting crown OF Yerald Martinez, 19, .756 OPS in his 2nd pro season netted him a DSL All-Star nod C Kevin Martinez, 20, switch-hitter improved in his 2nd and 3rd years, has played some first base as well C Johel Atencio, 18, signed out of Panama for $130,000, comes stateside after just one season (.687 OPS) This leaves approx. 17 players in the Dominican Academy, and the Brewers will especially be in need of outfield depth there, we'll look for any new names as the spring marches on. They won't be big-name signings at this point (not until the new July signing period). We don't see RHP Doni Arias' name - his last appearance was in early July, so there's probably an injury issue there. RHP Melvin Tejada was a possibility coming off his 3rd DSL season as well. SO excited to see what Joantgel Segovia can do. hitting close to .400 at any level at 17 years old is impressive!
  20. that is awesome
  21. I wouldnt spend $200 on a jersey with my own name on it, let alone one of a player on the team, I just dont see the point of spending that much money on a sports jersey of any sport. I buy my jerseys from China, $220 jersey for $40 with maybe a minor flaw? okay by me.
  22. oh i know, and ST is not a barometer for success, especially when pitchers are told at times to only throw specific pitches, so you have to take bad outings like that with a grain of salt... but it still doesnt change he got rocked hard.
  23. he got ROCKED yesterday
  24. and if its $6 million per team, thats $180 million across baseball. MLB made $8 BILLION in revenue in 2013... they'd still have a revenue of $7,820,000,000!!!!
