    Wooten is only on the roster because Overbay is on paternity leave, and once thats over he'll be sent back to AAA. so replacing wooten with Jeffress is not really an option

    Because of the rape allegations? The way he plays? The fact that he is MASSIVELY overrated? all of the above. what they want is someone to just hand off the ball to a Jerome Bettis replica.

    I could see them taking Figaro off the 40 man, but that may be only to put T. Green on it. Velez, I assume matches up with Gennett better being a switch hitter, though I can't see Velez's splits against lefties. Who would be considered the better defensive player - Green or Velez? Velez plays all over the field, too, so he wouldnt have to be just a platoon guy at 2B. I just think there has to be someone on the team they could remove from the 40-man to give him a shot.

    And over 718 career MLB PAs, his OPS is .654 (w/a .287 OBP). Take out the 13 PAs that led to a 1.021 OPS in his first season, & the career OPS is .647. Even just in Rickie's past two seasons, his OPS is .703 with a .320 OBP. The money owed to Rickie isn't going to get freed up by cutting him, & Velez wouldn't be an upgrade in production. I get the positional flexibility point, but for me that's already covered by Bianchi. the money is a non-factor, even trading Weeks they'll have to eat some/most of that contract. so why worry about the contract? Velez went 4/5 last night, up to .474 AVG. yes, maybe his career numbers are not great, but he's got a hot bat, if there was a 40-man spot to give, he should get it (unfortunately thats not going to happen);

    Pittsburgh fans boo braun every game, even before the whole biogenesis thing. there is also a pretty decent size faction of steelers fans who hate Ben, not a majority, but they're pretty vocal.

    I haven't read the books either, but I have to think it was Sansa just by the way she was just starring off, with that determined look in her eyes the entire time Joffrey was mocking the death of her family, and she handed the cup to Tyrion that he ended up taking that final drink from. I tried discussing ideas of what happened but those discussions got overrun by those who read the books interjecting how whatever was being suggested couldnt have happened without just flat out spoiling the storyline. so frustrating! i now avoid almost all GoT discussions

    velez is not on the 40-man roster and the 40-man is full. not worth removing someone else on the roster for three days' worth of a player. overbay can return to play sunday. I wasnt aware Velez wasnt on the 40 man, my mistake. oh well!

    going to tomorrow and sundays game against the pirates. I wish I was going to see the MLB debut of Polanco in RF, but knowing the pirates they'll probably call up Jaff Decker to sit on the bench instead now that Tabata is heading to the DL with concussion-like symptoms.

    hi, I live in pittsburgh, a third of pittsburgh isnt even buying the pirates, another third thinks they're the second coming of the team in the 60s and 70s, and the other third is more concerned with pass protection for Big Ben and how they can address that in the draft this year
