  1. Very happ-y for this squad. Been a long, long year.
  2. Doesn’t matter. Let’s just stay on Cobb and not have this thread turn into that.
  3. I know it is a business but why argue over 400k with your "ace" pitcher? Seems so minimal to go through this process and tick off your best pitcher.
  4. Fold up shop for 3-4 years, that's when the so called "Cubs window" that really isn't a window will close. Yeah, maybe I will check back in with the Brewers in 3-4 years to see if the coast is clear of those Cubs and their dynasty.
  5. Well, I guess, don't sign Cobb and waste that money. Might as well not even play the season. Just had the trophy to Chicago now. Better luck next year Brewers.
  6. Amazing that guys like this, year in and year out, absolutely suck but continue to make millions of dollars. Why in the hell would you pitch this bum every five days and not some young buck that might actually have a future? I just never understand this horse poop.
  7. I blame Boras. Or wait, those greedy billionaire owners. Aw hell, I can’t remember anymore.
  8. He’s saying it’s Cobb.
  9. So you are going to use minor league stats against Swihart but not even mention that Vogt (made the majors at 27) was older than the competition at just about every level and Swihart (majors at 23) was young at every level for the competition? Swihart will bet 26 during this season. Vogt hadn't sniffed the bigs yet by this age. Swihart has been jacked around pretty much his entire career. Also, Vogt can't make a throw to second base.
  10. I don't argue to have a large scouting report on Swihart beyond knowing his previous high prospect rating and so far uninspiring major league career, but is there any tangible stat or scouting report that suggests that he's an upgrade over a "pretty good" LH hitting catcher? I'm not sure about Vogt's place on the team basically as a platoon catcher, but he's probably an .800 OPS guy in Miller Park facing mostly RHP. I don't believe that Vogt will be an .800 OPS guy going forward. His career numbers against RHP indicate that he'll be about a mid .700's OPS guy. I think Swihart could replicate that plus give us even more defensive flexibility. Swihart can play C, OF, and 1B. He's also been rumored to have been working on 2B as well. He is out of options this spring so it will be interesting if he makes the Sox team. If he doesn't he'd be a nice pickup for our bench. I would even be okay with having Vogt as well as Swihart on the team. Flexibility is such a great thing to have. Aguilar would be expendable since Braun could be at first vs LHP and Aguilar cannot play any other place.
  11. Rodriguez had knee surgery after the season, and is predicted to miss the first month of the year at least. I like his talent, but that scares me. The Red Sox farm system is pretty barren, though. Rodriguez is about the only name that makes sense. They have a few nice prospect pitchers, but most are 20 or younger, and years away from MLB relevance. Not necessarily a bad thing, bit I personally would like to see Santana flipped for pitching that can help the MLB squad this year. Yep, Rodriguez is the only guy that makes sense for the Brewers to me. Problem is the knee. Hard to make a trade for someone coming off knee surgery. I have also wanted to pry away Blake Swihart for a while now. He would be a good upgrade over Vogt from the left side of the plate as long as the Brewers feel as though he can hack it defensively (not that Vogt is anything to write home about)
  12. But these aren't the only options out there. This is something written to show how poorly a system could be set up for small markets.
  13. I thought this was a good tweet to bring here because it might spurn more discussion on possible trades for Santana. It is interesting to see that Boston wants to be notified before moving him, maybe that will drive up the price for him. It is also interesting seeing Texas and Washington (Gio?!?!) on that list.
  14. I know the question wasn't to me but what a loaded question. I mean, why would it bother us regular joes that they guys are being paid at worst, a half million dollars to play a game? Now, that doesn't mean I am anti-player making ton's of money but it is my first reaction to your question. The next part is that these players unionized and had a say in how their pay would be structured. They know damn well what they are getting into as a pro baseball player. If they don't like how little they are paid in the minor leagues, go on strike. If they don't like how much they are getting paid their first few years in the league, argue for it and go on strike if need be. I am all for these millionaire/billionaire owners paying these guys what they are "worth" to play a game but I will not feel bad for them one minute out of my life for what they get paid to play a game.
  15. Kemp has definitely been awful. I mean maybe awful by Kemp's standards, but any worse than Braun? I still feel like this might be a gamble worth taking if we can squeeze a prospect or two out of the Dodgers. Well just by doing a three-year comparison of the two, Braun has about an 80 point advantage in the OPS department during that time (.860 vs. 779) and leads in OPS+ (126 vs. 108). Amazing how some think Braun is that bad of a player. I get the injury talk because last year he was in and out a ton but there are just too many that think what he does on the field is bad all of a sudden.
  16. You don't think a guy that has thrown 468.1 innings in the minors and has a stat line of: ERA: 3.65 WHIP: 1.10 Avg: .222 K's: 527 K/9: 10.13 BB/9: 2.58 is good?
  17. However you want to dice it up to try to legitimize this fake report, it ain’t happening. Like I said, the season just needs to get here. Some of this is pure madness. Maybe we can trade him for Stroman too.
  18. Your best bet, just like on here, make a post and don’t stress the idiots who want to treat you poorly. Report what you want and don’t respond to those who want to drag you in the muck. Easier said than done but it’ll probably be a lot less trouble for you.
  19. Can the season just get here already so this stupid reporting of insane things can end? Why in the hell would this even benefit the Brewers?
  20. Thank you Mr.Allen. That data is very interesting to see. Sometimes I think our expectations of what we need out of certain pitchers might be very unrealistic.
  21. We've done a lot of discussion about what is an Ace or TOR type pitcher but does anyone have any averages for what a #1 looks like or a #2 or a #3 and so on? I see some people post things like I would like player A to become a #3 in our rotation and then they post that they want them to put up 180 innings+ and a 3.75 ERA. Is that really what a #3 looks like? I mean we averaged a 4 ERA last year and we were #9 in all of baseball.
  22. I wish this forum would partner up with BrewCrewBall or ReviewingtheBrew. Get some content and drive people to the boards.
  23. Fans and posters might be serious (for whatever reason), but I doubt that Stearns and Counsell are. They are probably licking their chops at the possibility of a .880-.900+ OPS Braun in the middle of what this lineup could really be. If Braun is healthy, he plays. Not sure why we want to continuously debate that.
  24. http://albethke.blogspot.com/ I can only be heard on Al's Rambling's now. The HH19 Twitter's out there are all fakes. Just curious as to why that blog?
