  1. [sarcasm]And we wonder why we get made fun of on the Cubs boards.[/sarcasm] All kidding aside, Stroman would be so fun to have in a Brewers uniform but it really doesn't make a lot of sense for Toronto to move him right now. Maybe at the halfway point if/when they are out of it. Unless they want to do a total rebuild.
  2. Brewers re-sign Mr. September, Quintin Berry Although this belongs in the minor league thread, I think it probably secures the Brewers playing meaningful baseball down the stretch. I mean, this guy will probably swipe 15 bags in September to help us secure the Central.
  3. Maybe Hiura is better suited for the AL (DH) anyways so it could be a good use of resources if he were to be included. Trying to spin the positive.
  4. I looked at Heyman's twitter and didn't see anything about this... just wondering where you saw this at? https://www.mlb.com/news/jake-arrieta-free-agent-rumors/c-266032400 Thanks to the both of you. For some reason, I did not get that notification on my phone. After reading it. Not much there other than his speculation.

  6. Ugh. I hate the idea of giving up ML-level prospects at positions of need. I'd much rather give up players who are further away, but may have high upsides. Peralta, Diplan and Lemons fit that bill better. I would rather we hold onto Woodruff and they can keep Odorizzi (not impressed with him) and we can ship Santana for Colome +. Even that, I'm not a huge fan of doing but he would be amazing to have in the pen.
  7. I will say that it is weird that they have both of their catchers at the major league level signed for long-term contracts and then they signed Hannigan today on a minor league contract. I know it could be just a depth move but with Meija, you would think he would be getting pretty much all of the action at AAA to start, so why would Hannigan go there?
  8. The fact that the USA had an opportunity to create an all college player hockey team and didn't is a real bummer. I'm not even excited to tune into the hockey games.
  9. I want to add in that I love reading Clancy's proposals and insight to players because he really is an outside the box thinker. It's refreshing. But sometimes we can get stuck on giving away or obtaining certain players.
  10. These two have been discussed at great lengths over the past few days. I am wondering what people think would be the better route for the Brewers to take? Rotation A: 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Garcia 4. Chacin 5. Woodruff Extras: Suter, Gallardo, Guerra, Wilkerson OR Rotation A: 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Corbin 4. Chacin 5. Woodruff Extras: Suter, Gallardo, Guerra, Wilkerson I think I am beginning to be in favor of just signing Garcia and holding onto Santana for a future trade, maybe full of prospects instead.
  11. Clancy, I think we get that you don't really want to see Arcia in a Brewers uniform but he isn't going anywhere. Might I suggest coming up with trades that are a bit more realistic from the Brewers front office stand point?
  12. I actually wouldn't mind this deal for Domingo. Would immediately help us restock our farm system, although I have to admit that I don't know much about Clarke? Is he a future mid-level rotation guy?
  13. Brewers get: Pavin Smith, Taylor Clarke, Dalton Varsho, Patrick Corbin Dbacks get: Domingo Santana
  14. Wouldn’t the match be there if other players were included? Straight up, it doesn’t make sense, unless it was for someone like Broxton.
  15. I’d take Pavin Smith and Corbin for Santana. Smith is expected to move through the minors in a hurry. He and Hiura would be a great combo working there way through the minors together.
  16. If we trade for Corbin, I’m good with rolling with: 1. Anderson 2. Davies 3. Corbin 4. Chacin 5. Woodruff You’ll have Suter & Gallardo (if there’s anything left) for spot starts and then if the reports are accurate, Nelson comes back into the fold in June. If he doesn’t, then if we are contending come July, we look to add during that time.
  17. Yeah the market is what the market is though. Nothing that the Brewers or any of us can really control. $20M plus a year is nothing to sneeze at though and hey, maybe Stearns has a connection will let us in on his tipping of pitches. I highly doubt the pitch tipping continues this year. Probably should have put the blue font on that.
  18. Does it get frustrating that Asian players seem to prefer only certain markets?
  19. Yeah the market is what the market is though. Nothing that the Brewers or any of us can really control. $20M plus a year is nothing to sneeze at though and hey, maybe Stearns has a connection will let us in on his tipping of pitches.
  20. You telling people how to post around here is ironically cute and all but let’s just move on from that. No one is saying they don’t want the Brewers to improve. The Cubs were always going to try to get better. Their window is right now. Again, it is what it is. Darvish makes a ton of sense for them. The Brewers have improved their roster and haven’t even used all their trade pieces yet, nor have all the free agents been signed by other teams so there’s that too. It’s a good time to be a Brewers fan. Can’t wait to see how all this plays out.
  21. Seriously, why is it you have to stoop to this level every chance you get. Says a lot about your ability to defend your position when this is all you have. So if someone has a differing opinion they are depressed? Stellar logic there. Fact is, the Cubs were better and just took another pretty big step forward. Saying "yeah, but we have Brent Suter" isn't going to cut it. Make that argument on a neutral board and see how quickly you get blown up. Lol this is all I have? Come on man. Step away from the keyboard every once in awhile. You go one minute from saying that Darvish isn’t realistic for the Brewers and that he will never go there, to jumping off the deep end that he signed with the Cubs. The Brewers will continue on with their plan and not get themselves into financial messes. We all know what we sign up for being a Brewers fan. It includes realizing the downfalls of being in a small market. Just fuels the fire to try to knock off the Cubbies just that much more. Lovable losers, no more. Like I said in a different post, the Brewers are a better team today than they were a year ago and definitely two years ago.
  22. Lol some are really overreacting to the Darvish to to Cubs signing. Straight depression mode for some. We really cannot become impatient. It will only lead us to a roster that won’t last long and won’t be sustainable. A home will be found for Santana.
  23. Gross. If that’s all that Santana is used for. Gross.
  24. Not many were giving Yu a chance to get six years so five years is not out of the question here
  25. It's funny how opinions can differ so significantly. In my eyes, this off-season didn't change our path one bit. Yelich was Brinson's ceiling (I understand this is my opinion) ... so we simply swapped our best outfield prospect for what we hoped he could be. I certainly consider that a win. Harrison becomes blocked because of Cain/Santana/Braun. We won't need another starting outfielder until 2020ish when Braun is on his way out and Cain is presumably declining. By that time Harrison would have been dealt anyway and/or it will be the Tristen Lutz show... Harrison was never going to start for the Milwaukee Brewers. The only real loss we have is Diaz and depending on Hiura's trajectory ... he too may not have had a place on the 2020 squad either. Admittedly I'm not as high on Yamamoto as others. This year is to figure out which of our young starters (Burnes, Woodruff, Wilkerson, etc) are going to be staples in the future. I don't think the intention in our rebuild was to contend this year ... and while we are closer to that than I think was planned, I don't believe the moves we have made will hinder our ability to compete in '19, '20 etc. as you seem to be insinuating. We sold high on Brinson. It is very possible we sold high on Harrison as well. +1 Agreed with everything you just said and I’ll add that the Cubs adding Darvish may or may not help them continue their winning ways but I’m really hoping Stearns is just focused on doing what’s best for the Brewers. Taking on Darvish at his age and injury history for six seasons would not have been wise for the Brewers. He will find us pitching. We are in such a better place this season that last year and the year before that. We can’t overreact to these types of things. Stay the course.
