  1. My analysis is the Red Sox ran out of serious 3b trade options and knew of the Brewers interest in Harrison from recent discussions. So they sought out Durbin as a 2b-3b option with Marcelo Mayer. Durbin more likely fits 2b in the longer term where he's better defensively and his limited power works better. Then the teams worked around the two principal targets
  2. Jett playing SS going into spring training only makes sense. He's closest SS prospect to being ready with the bat. See if he can beat out Ortiz. Of itself that doesn't mean management intends to assign him to AAA as the principal SS.
  3. You don' t have to cash out equity to benefit from it. Reduce profits or borrow on the equity. Jeez!
  4. Attanasio group bought Brewers in 2005 for a reported $223 million. Forbes has recently valued the franchise at $1.7 billion, an increase greater than 7.5 times. I see a possible 5 year window of opportunity for serious contention for one or more championships. Why can't they in that term boost payroll $25 to $50 million? OK! Swing away all you tightwads. Ain't my money to play with.
  5. They're offering $12 million more than they're already obligated to pay. I think it's a good deal if he takes it or they get the comp pick. They can also trade him any time if he takes the offer if somebody thinks he's worth it at that time and the Brewers decide he can be replaced by somebody they have or they're not contending.
  6. Why not a win next game?
  7. I'd give time to see what Quero can be completely healthy wherever they roster him. If they keep him let Contreras DH some and rest. See if he can play some first or maybe 3rd base. Yogi, Torre and Bench did.
  8. Ortiz is not a significantly better SS than a healthy Turang (arm) or nearly as good offensively as Collins. "Foreseeable" in your lexicon must be a short term with Pratt, Made and others progressing rapidly through the minors.
  9. Collins was mostly a 2B in the minors. How good was he defensively? If it's in the cards to move Turang back to SS Collins seems to be the prime candidate at second if he's good defensively.
  10. I value Areinamo more than many but it's a fair price for an experienced MLB catcher like Jansen with injury concerns for Contreras and Quero. This should also make way for Adamcziewzki at Appleton. All coǹsidered, I approve.
  11. Dinges today is #2 C in Brewers Milb. StilI I would like to see them give him some time at 3B occasionally because of his athleticism, arm, bat and prior non catching experience before drafted. 3B is deceptively hard to fill. Certainly keep him at C but 75% and 25% at 3B. Versatility is valued today.
  12. I would let the market come to us. We need to thin the herd a bit at the higher levels organizationally, but I'm not that impressed with the match of likely available players with our needs. I wouldn't hesitate to make available prospects like Black, Boeve, or Carlos Rodriguez who don't really fit our needs but could some other team.
  13. DLing Contreras is an option but my concern would be a negative effect on the pitching staff. We'll see soon.
  14. The rule 5 draft posts above relate to the 2025 December draft, not the 2026 as the topic headline states.
  15. If this promotion occurs its likely the result of Seigler successfully abandoning switch hitting and going strictly lefty. He could fit into a platoon with Durbin.
  16. Why not give Zamora and Siegler a try in place of Ortiz and Monasterio? I realize there is a 40 man roster issue bu Cameron and a AAA relief pitcher would be dfa candidates if they want to keep Monestario.
  17. Trade prospects not too encouraging to me. Most of those veterans likely to be made available will be seen as salary dumps by prospective "buyers" and won't fetch much player return at all.
  18. Let Miz sustain current level of performance as a starter in AAA while shaking out their rostered starting pitching.
  19. Unless the Brewers explain their decision on Smith (JOKE!!) there's little value in continuing discussion. Most comments agree, as do I, that it was a mistake. Pretending it was a trade for Thomas or Patrick is silly.
  20. They should send Black to Nashville to play full time at his best position, probably LF. He wouldn't be the first one position player with a pretty good bat. Why waste his potential trying to fit him in as 3b, 1b, or utility role without ever establishing his best defensive position?
  21. Remember the 2025 MLB draft pick. Could be around 33.
  22. If he's willing I'd give Contreras some looks at 3B in early spring training. See if he has potential there for the future. The C to 3B transition has been successfully done before. Quero will hopefully come back from shoulder surgery but probably won't be ready for full time MLB catching until 2026. If healthy he's too good not to be a full-time catcher for the Brewers. This could extend Contreras' career in the long run.
  23. I'd do it. Short term trade given reliever depth vs 3b ready prospects.
