  1. I have a hard time getting behind a person for the Fan HoF that is paid to be at the game, or profits by being there. Maybe that's my own agenda by not wanting to see the Iceman get in. I think class of 09 ought to be Doorman and Happy Youngster.
  2. I liked reading his comments and I thought it was the right thing to do. However, after reading some other comments on this page, I look at it a little differently. It's true, Braun had done next to nothing for 12 games. He finally puts the bat on the ball and now he's commenting on the pitching? Honestly even the defense comments sting a little bit. How would he have felt in 2007 if someone would have said something along the lines of "If we could just make the throw from 3rd base to 1st base, we'd be in more games." I love Braun but maybe he should have waited until he put together a good week before making these comments.
  3. How about an Brewer Fan HOF election every year or something along those lines? Is that to corny? I think it would be cool to have a vote in style HOF.
  4. From what I see I will definitely be in the minority here but I can't stand the "Iceman". My wife and I always cringe when we see him at the spring games. He's more obnoxious than fun in my opinion. Glad to see that other people enjoy him though. To add some positivity to my post though... I do love seeing the doorman and his wife at the games. He adds to the excitement when he shows the recently K'ed hitter the door to the bench. I also LOVE that the Doorman and the Happy Youngster occasionally post on this site. Also, I second Brian the Automator. This site is awesome. The in-game threads, covering the majors, minors, the draft, trade proposals, Power 50. It really is a Brewers fan's dream.
  5. I think that is my problem with it too. It's like The Office Lite. It has it's moments but maybe if it was on another night of the week so I was directly able to compare it to The Office and this show isn't as good as The Office.
  6. Let's go Yo! I know Santana is a great pitcher but I think we can take this one. Looks like Rickie hits him well 4 for 7 with a triple and 2 HR's.
  7. I think this is the best way to evaluate a GM. Sure most of the big league talent was acquired via the draft. That shouldn't reflect poorly on DM. That was the teams philosophy for how to get better. DM specifically acquired 1 or 2 year players to hold down positions until the young talent was ready to come up so as to not rush them. If someone wants to point out all of the trades that in retrospect don't look great, take some time to look at the good trades. The Sexson trade was huge for us. A 1B who I don't believe is currently playing and was going to leave town at the end of his contract anyway (that also fits the mold most people are complaining about too many K's) for 6 players. Many of those players were valuable at the time. I'm not going to sit here and point out what each player did but DM also turned a couple of those stop gap players into more players that produced for us. If you want to cheer for a team that goes out and signs huge FA's there is one 90 miles to the south. Or check out the one that plays on the YES network. This is our team and while one of the most fun things to do as a fan is to play "what if?" and debate which player is better, we as Brewers fans should be better than this. It's 2 weeks into the season and everyone is freaking out. Let's see how this thing plays out, and if they don't make it to the playoffs, hopefully they will next year. Yankee fans that think October is their birth right always disgusted me. DM has helped make this team fun to watch again. Give the guy some credit.
  8. I loved that this episode showed Michael Scott as a great salesman. The show always suggested that he was a great salesman but tonight we got to see it. I thought him stealing Dwight's best customer while he made Dwight listen was hilarious. I don't know how many times I laughed out loud but it was still a great episode.
  9. I didn't think the latest episode was very good. I do have to agree with jwill that those parts were funny. This episode was better than the first, I was just that unimpressed with the first episode.
  10. Eric Karabell is only days away from giving up home that Turnbow could be the Rangers closer this year. I'm surprised he needs a few days yet. On the farm • Derrick Turnbow, Rangers: Hard to believe this right-hander was one of the top closers in baseball in 2005, but it's true. He went 7-1 for the Brewers and saved 39 games, boasting a 1.74 ERA. Since then, his wildness has gotten the best of him, to say the least. The Brewers gave up on him when he couldn't throw strikes last season (13 walks in 6 1/3 major league innings; 41 walks in 18 Triple-A innings … yes, you read that right: a 3.22 WHIP and 10.50 ERA in the minors), but the Rangers took a shot by offering him a minor-league deal this past winter. Turnbow didn't make the team, blaming his demotion on spring rust, but he did show signs of being competent. No Rangers pitcher appeared in more official spring games, and Turnbow fanned 13 hitters and walked nine in 12 innings. That's progress, I suppose. Now in Oklahoma City, Turnbow's first outing was a disaster; he walked four of the five hitters he faced. Why are we discussing him? I placed Turnbow in the "stealth" category for Rangers saves on the bullpen chart page, mainly because Frank Francisco is about the only reliable right-hander the team has, and he's a largely unproven closer. I'm days away from removing Turnbow from consideration if he can't harness his considerable stuff. http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/baseball/flb/story?page=re090415 (edit: thread title --1992)
  11. Nice job by Prince picking that one out of the dirt to save the double play.
  12. 8 straight balls from Owings, I was actually stunned Corey took 2 pitches before he started hacking. There's real growth going on here!
  13. Nice stat from Thom Brennamen. Willy Taveras attempts to steal 54% of the time he reaches base. Major league average of attempts to steal a base when getting on base is 8%. Wow
  14. We're even falling behind when the pitcher is hitting.
  15. Watching Reds feed (it's in HD) and they didn't have a good angle on where the defense lined up for Corey.
  16. I dated a girl in high school who's grandfather did this. I thought he just ate them though I didn't know you could sell them. I looked around a little bit on ebay and they are for sale. I just didn't see many with bids on them. That's pretty cool though. Great idea, go hiking, find some mushrooms, sell them and buy Brewer tickets.
  17. Everything would have been different if Yo started opening day instead...
  18. I know it's one week in... I'm not going to overreact... This team better get it figured out quick though. I think Mark A was really counting on walk up sales this year and no one is going to be fighting for tickets to see this garbage.
  19. Yo or not, a walk here and the crowd is going to get ugly.
  20. I think the pitch to Corey was right down the middle.
