  1. Was watching Hot Stove on MLB today. Sounds like he is having trouble finding a starting job any where. They even mentioned him possibly going to Seattle as a back up. Sounded like he could be available for just over 1 million. What does everyone think? I'd love to see him picked up but with the way Kendall wants to play every day it would be a struggle to keep both happy. Maybe one of them could give Prince a day off every now and then.
  2. Hey not sure how many of you guys realized this but... he plays for our team. Why all the crappy comments about him? He's a good player with potential to be great. I'm thrilled he's on the team and hope they lock him up long term.
  3. I hated seeing him come into the game most of the year but he does seem like a good guy. He showed real class by buying those tickets. I'd love to have him back at a very inexpensive contract. I also wouldn't blame him one bit if he refused to play in Milwaukee. It's sad to see your favorite teams fans acting like idiots. I'm not against booing, just use some discretion as to when to do it. When he walks on the field is a bit much. If a guy is giving less than his best effort over and over, then absolutely. Another post mentioned how it seemed like many fans were doing it to get a message to Yost and how with as stubborn as he is that was probably the worst thing you could do. What can be done to get people to stop booing at the first sign of failure? I wish some of the fans in Milwaukee were more educated and showed more class.
  4. I'll never forget Uke's call of Robin's 3000th hit. Rock calling the DP to end the game this year made my wife and I come to tears. Just unforgettable.
  5. I'm encouraged by hearing about whats on the network, however, every time I turn it on it's the 2008 world series or home run derby. More than a little tired of watching it.
  6. It's been 7 years. I was 18 and my uncle decided the route. My point is to plan what time you want to be hitting large cities. His focus was avoiding St. Louis at rush hour. I threw Chicago in there because I thought it might be helpful.
  7. Radar detector and leaving Milwaukee at a time that allows you to avoid Chicago and St. Louis at rush hour, you might be able to do it in 25 hours. I forgot that when I made the drive we hit a down pour in Missouri and it delayed us quite a bit. Couldn't really see where we were going on the highway.
  8. I know I'm only echoing other posts here but Rickie's biggest problem is that he was the #2 pick. He deserves more time and we could be a whole lot worse at 2nd. I have no problem with him leading off and starting almost every day at 2nd. Minor criticism but I don't think he should ever hit 2nd in the line up. Lead off hitter and when he slumps put him 7th.
  9. 28 hours, could maybe shave an hour off of it... I was really moving though. It sucks, I 40 from Texas to Arizona is beyond boring. Nothing to look at to keep your attention. I won't be making that drive again.
  10. I'm excited about the network. Just a quick memo to mlb network though, I don't think people care to watch home run derbys... Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't any random game from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's be more interesting that watching the 2008 home run derby?
  11. I was at that game too! My aunt was took us to get autographs and we of course were told the Yankees wouldn't be available. Now that I'm older I'm glad I've never gotten a Yankee players autograph.
  12. If you're looking for night life old-town scottsdale is ideal. Don't drink and drive out here unless you want to spend 40 days in the tents... Depending on what you want to do there are different places to stay. Downtown phoenix doesn't have much to offer. Maryvale is a borderline project. I'd recommend Peoria near the Mariners and Padres facility or Scottsdale. Tempe near Mill Ave is a great area to go out at night too. Also good for shopping during the day. Don't be concerned about having to drive 30 to 45 minutes to the things you want to do, everything is a long drive out here.
  13. Nonononononono! This can't be happening. I've always hated the Yankees but now, wow. A second round pick for the best pitcher in baseball. Ridiculous. Is there a loop hole where they can sign Sheets and Manny so that we get a nice 5th round pick for losing Sheets too? Jeez.
  14. I agree with your point TLB. I think it's the fact that the players are on TV every day. We see them for 3 hours a day during the game, see the highlights. ESPN and other news sources report the players salary. They don't report how much the owners make every year. I don't think anyone would care as much about how much people make if the ticket prices, merchandise, and concession prices were anywhere near reasonably priced. Milwaukee probably has the lowest prices in the league and they are still outrageous. Living in Phoenix and seeing the Brewers when they come out here really is expensive.
  15. I believe that is right Invader. They already signed 2 type A's and can only sign one more. It seems like a lot of people think that it is an uneducated fans opinion that Sheets is "oft-injured". I think it is obvious that other teams feel the same way. It isn't something personal with Sheets that he let us down two years in a row, its that he really is injured often. He also seems to take a longer time to heal than other players. Whether that is his body or he just doesn't want to rush back for personal reasons.
  16. Everyone knows the only thing that kept the Yanks out of the playoffs this year is the fact that the NL doesn't use a DH!
  17. Well it wasn't a difference of 120 mil or 170 mil. It was 161 vs 100. So we are talking about 38% more money and a guarantee to be paid for more years. I'd take a $7.60 per hour raise at my $20 an hour job with a guarantee to have a job for an additional year or two. I don't blame him. I just wish it wasn't the dynamic of MLB. It's not fun to be a have not.
  18. The Yankees can only sign 3 type A free agents to replace the 3 they lost. That is my understanding atleast. So it isn't in their best interest to get more type A free agents for the same price. They'd rather pay top dollar for the 3 best type A free agents. If it wasn't for that rule they would probably sign CC, Burnette, Lowe, Sheets, and Texeira. It's interesting to see the talent they are acquiring for the same price as the washed up garbage they let go. No one had a problem with the money they spent when they were spending it on the wrong players like Giambi.
  19. If they just spent more than Mark A did for the team, why don't they just buy an organization and take whatever players they want from it and move them to NY? I know I know, I don't need anyone to explain to me that they can't do that. Just sickening though. When will baseball do something about this? What has to happen in order for MLB to have a salary cap and attempt to level the playing field like football?
  20. i was about to post the same thing chorizo. If you are having a hard time with fan expectations in Milwaukee, good luck in another city. Signing to play in NY would be the dumbest thing he could do then.
  21. Splitting hairs here but my guess is that it would be back-loaded and the first three years would be around 20, 21, 22 per. Then he would be walking away from 4 years maybe 98 million... It will be interesting. If CC gets hurt that is a ton of money for the Yankees to pay for an ineffective or unavailable player. If CC gets a comparable offer from a CA team or for whatever reason after 3 years he walks, the Yankees just go ahead and sign another teams ace to that kind of money. I think that we should just see the silver lining that the signing came relatively quick. There is still time to do other things and if DM stands pat, we are still going to be loaded with young talent both at the major league level and the minor league level after the draft.
  22. I know they are the Yankees but I don't think they can afford Tex too. Atleast i can't comprehend that one. Maybe they get Sheets too but we are atleast in line for their 1st and 2nd round picks and the 2 sandwich picks. It's not all that different than a winning team signing 1 of the 2 pitchers. There are worse scenarios than that. Isn't that still better than CC going to the Angels or Red Sox?
  23. 23 million a year for 7 years gets you a pitcher that has been nothing but dominant in the playoffs.
