I think JJ is a great player. He's fun to watch, seems likeable. That said sbrylski06 is dead on correct. It will be sad to see JJ go but that is what should happen and what will happen. The Brewers have to follow the model of the A's and Twins in order to have long term success. Those teams repeatedly turn their young talent into more yount talent. If our prospects were at other positions maybe you pay JJ. Fact of the matter is there are 2 SS behind him that will give us value. You don't get as much value by trading a defensive SS prospect as you do by trading JJ. JJ is a luxury to have on your team and that is why a team like the Yankees, Dodgers, Angels will end up with him. Because they can afford to pay for that luxury. All of that said, I don't blame JJ one bit for his comments, there's nothing wrong with what he said.

Also playing devil's advocate... maybe the ex-wife was putting the kids in danger or he felt like his kid wasn't safe there. In that instance I understand not just leaving. I think the best thing said on this post is that there are so many occurrences of domestic violence every day that this isn't any more or less important than any of the other occurrences. Lots of people do things they regret. There were several comments on the web site this story is from saying that he should be made an example of. That's something that bothered me. Why should he have any more or less severe punishment than anyone else? Whatever comes out that he did should come with the punishment any other person would receive regardless of their proffession. Charles Barkley did 3 days in the tents out here for his DUI and I don't know the details of his stay but I do know several people out here that have gotten a DUI and did 1 day in tent city.

I suppose Sheffield doesn't belong on the list. Does Overbay deserve a spot? I know he's not better than Cooper, didn't have the power Sexson had or Fielder has.

They do in Phoenix, AZ. If the police have been called, someone must be taken in to custody.

One of my favorite vegetables on the grill is zucchini. I bought "Grill Shakers" brand seasoning. They make a lemon pepper vegetable season that is awesome. It's good for lots of different vegetables. I take the zucchini and slice it about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch thick into round pieces and sprinkle on the seasoning. If your grill is clean that's all you need to do. You can paint on some good olive oil so that it doesn't stick. Flip it over after about 4 minutes or so and then re-season. When it's soft it's done. I highly recommend Weber's Big Book of Grilling. A bunch of great recipes for anything you could want to put on the grill. My mother in-law gave it to me last year for Christmas. There are tons of recipes for rubs, marinades, vegetables, tips for smoking. It's awesome.

I didn't suggest that she was making it up. All I said is that he should be innocent until proven guilty. I read the story and he denies the allegations. So he suggests that she is making it up. If you hope he's innocent, what would that mean she did? The police don't call themselves. She alleged that he threw her down. I should have taken a minute or two longer to explain that reading the messages posted under the story on that web site, there were a lot of people that were ripping on him. As of right now that's inappropriate to do. It sounds as if you have a personal history with this, and I'm sorry if that's the case but ease up on me.

I hate the cubs and their fans as much as anybody. I just don't think we have much to talk about. Home crowd fans booing our own players and we haven't won anything yet.

But seriously, we don't know any of the details and he should be innocent until proven guilty. It's his ex-wife so obviously they aren't on the greatest of terms. I've heard pleanty of stories of the woman making something up.

They say that if you do 56 in a 55 you'll be getting a ticket but you can do up to 75 in a 65 and not get one. Strange way of setting up the photo radar but it was a story in the Arizona Republic some time ago when the cameras first went up. They are frustrating. Some substitute school teacher went crazy and took out a camera with a pick ax, was seen by a police officer and was hit with the ticket as well as more charges for damaging property.

Slow Jammin the news was funny enough. Not laugh out loud bust a gut funny but worth watching. You have to give him more time to get used to the show himself. I think his writers are good enough he's just nervous. He gets in the way of his guests and interrupts them. He doesn't so much host the show as much as he visits with an old friend (his guest). A lot of "remember the time you and I did this together?" stuff. That said he should get 6 months at a minimum to figure it out.

joepepsi, I thought about him but who do you take off that roster? Is he better then Braun, Burnitz, Oglivie, Vaughn? Deserves a mention though.

I'd love to see the Brewers make a run at him, probably can't afford him. The experience he brings to the team is worth it alone.

Just finished watching the Yankees edition of 30 teams in 30 days on MLB Network. They did a All-Time great Yankees roster. Made a batting order and picked a starting pitcher as well as a bench. I thought it would be really cool to see peoples opinions of an All-Time great Brewers roster. I'm 25 and I don't remember the early years of the team from first hand knowledge, just from hearing about, reading, and watching old footage. Looking forward to everyones opinions. I think the lineup should be made with a DH. Heres my limited memory version. 3B Molitor SS Yount LF Braun CF Thomas DH Fielder 1B Cooper RF Vaughn C Simmons 2B Gantner SP Sutton BE Lee BE Hardy BE Sexson BE Oglivie BE Sheffield BE Surhoff SP Higuera SP Vuckovich SP Sheets SP Sabathia BP Slaton BP Plesac BP Fetters BP Cordero CL Fingers

After seeing Salome in person I don't understand how he is less of a prospect because he isn't 2 or 3 inches taller. He can hit. He plays a position where his height really doesn't matter.

You never know what will happen as far as making the 25 man. I remember being in the pro shop a few years back when Darron Sutton walked in, was talking to the people that work there while picking something up. He mentioned that Turnbow made the 25 man and everyone in the store stopped what they were doing and you feel the excitement of it. It was weird. There is a lot of time for someone to show their ability and steal a roster spot. I can see Duffy making it too but it's still February...

I'm in. As soon I can get to a computer without a filter... stuck at work.

Nice pictures. As far as Escobar goes I wasn't there today but I read on TH's blog that he made an amazing defensive play. Macha said it woke everyone up. Wondering what you thought of it. He also made a play while not amazing, still impressive on Wednesday when I was there. Slow squib of a ground ball that he charged, bare-handed and gunned the runner out at first. Maybe JJ makes it, maybe not. Not a criticism of JJ seeing as it was the first day of ST when I was there but there was a line drive that would have been impressive if he got to it but I can't help but think Escobar would have. I'd love to see the 2 have the same exact shot at a play and see what happens, I know that is impossible but still. I really believe Escobar is ahead of where JJ was at this point of his career. I just hope that when he gets his shot people remember that it took JJ a while to settle in too. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Hey everyone! I've never played fantasy baseball before but have been playing fantasy football for years. I was going to join a random yahoo or espn league but I know that people are likely to stop paying attention to it and that's frustrating. I was wondering if anyone from bf.net wanted to play or if there is a league already that I could get into. I'd prefer to play for free but if that's not an option I'd be interested anyway. Please let me know if anyone else would be interested. Thanks!

I was taking the pictures at the game and thought, man I can't wait to get these up on bf.net so everyone can see! Thanks for all the compliments. The player you're asking about TLB is Angel Salome. The batter for Oakland is actually Jason Giambi. The picture of Corey swinging is a split second before he sent the ball over the right center field wall. As far as where people are sitting that's pretty common at Maryvale for spring games not involving the Cubs or Diamondbacks. Because it was the first game there were a few less people there than there will be in a week or two but the first base side always has more people there. People tend to sit like it's a little league game, fans sit behind their teams dugout. The sun does play a big part in it too but there were only a few A's fans there period. I think people that travel out here make a bigger deal out of home and away games than I would. Most of the stadiums are within an hour of each other and for Phoenix, that is close. Maryvale also is known as a rougher part of town so I'm guessing that families that are in town for a week just do something else the day their team plays at Maryvale. I don't have any numbers to back this up, just general experience but every other stadium is nearly full every day. I plan on going atleast once a week, so I should have more pictures next week.

From what I saw Prince, Brad Nelson, Ken Macha were signing before the game too. I'm sure a lot of players signed after the game too. Brad Nelson seems like a really nice guy. He didn't just sign he stuck around and talked to people.
