in one word . . . . . no in a lot more words . . . . . no I don't want Manny Ramirez and I can pretty much guarantee my year's salary that if this deal was made, once Manny got to Milwaukee he would demand a trade. He already spent many years in Cleveland, another small market. And like someone else said, Mench and Turnbow wouldn't even come close to enough for the Sox. Not to mention that they'd have to send $8 M to the Brewers, too? This trade reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School when he's in the economics class and he's telling the professor about the real world economics of business. The professor asks the class where to build the factory, and Rodney responds, "How about Fantasyland!" That's where this trade belongs, too.

are they still only being broadcast on Versus or whatever other channel? I'd love to watch (not much beats playoff hockey--especially a game 7)

I'll say it: I'm darn proud of the people of Milwaukee metro area (and any Ohio fans that traveled to the game). I'm looking forward to hearing all these "experts" eat a little crow about how "stupid" the idea was and that they'd get "nobody" to the games. Stand up and pat yourselves on the back, Wisconsin!

I'm just not that impressed with Suppan so far--in either start. He throws strikes, it appears, but seems to be quite average since he doesn't blow people away but pitches to contact. And sometimes, that contact is quite hard. Reminds me of Bill Wegman, in a way.

I'm venting that this season there is no special patch for the 5th anniversary of the worst team in franchise history.

Actually, I seem to remember reading that the WASH GM Jim Bowden is all about re-stocking their team (and farm system) with as many young guys as possible. Mostly this is because their system was ruined by MLB running the team for those years. Granted, Cordero is 25 or 26 years old so he's not in his prime yet, but I could see an offer for Jackson, Capellan, and maybe somebody else for Cordero.

I'm playing the potential title-clinching game of our Diamond Mind league right now as I watch the Brewers. It's 14-12 in the 6th inning (no pitching in this game!) A lot of hangers, just like Wade Miller. Glad to see the hitters are doing what they're supposed to be doing today. Cappy looks filthy so far. Go Brewers! Go Me! (btw, the championship series is one of my teams against one of my wife's teams. It's her first finals ever. She's down 0-3 in the series. I feel bad. But not that bad. I haven't won in 6 seasons.)

yay. I get to watch this game on WGN as DTV blacked out the FSN game on 642. At least I can listen to Uecker and Powell and sync up the audio with my tivo. Go Sheets!
  9. pitchleague
    I'll venture a guess: Sheets 8 IP, 11 K, 0 walks, 3 hits, 1 run Zambrano 2.1 IP, 2 K, 3 walks, 5 hits, 4 runs, ejection in third inning FINAL Brewers 7 Cubs 0

somehow, Craig Counsell is responsible for this loss. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

well, good to see Bush settle down a bit. Hope the hitters can start to do something now that Hill has 4 perfect innings. Did you hear me, baseball gods???? Rich Hill has 4 PERFECT innings.
  12. pitchleague
well, I'll keep watching but this is not good. jeez, 6-0 now
  13. pitchleague
PLAY BALL! good first two pitches by Bush!

I haven't said anything yet about Woogie's graphics. They are very nice. I like the color change for the retro gear. I'm assuming pictures will be updated once you acquire photos of players on their new teams? Is Woogie a newer poster or is he/she a veteran of the board using a different user name perhaps? Not that it matters, just was wondering. I got a good feeling about this one. Should be fun to watch. Although, I'm pretty big on Rich Hill, too. I think he can be a fine #3 starter with a decent 10+ year career.

in regards to George Webb's, don't the commercials say something like, "stop into any participating George Webb's to receive 6 burgers for $5?" The key word is "participating." Some restaurants may not participate in the gimmick. Too bad. They'd probably get more business.
  16. pitchleague
still, it was quite an entertaining game and I hope that we play this way all year. 2-1 is fine with me. I blame the @#%$ thread for tonight's loss. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. pitchleague
Yup, understand that. How about in between pitches? And that would be why I said, and I quote, "That was just a dumb play that, TO ME, was bigger than the Villanueva walk-fest.
  18. pitchleague
I'm not going to read the whole 20 pages of the thread, but why on earth was Weeks going on that ground ball with the drawn in infield with only 1 out? Where is the 3rd base coach to remind him to make sure it goes through? That was just a dumb play that, to me, was bigger than the Villanueva walk-fest.
  19. pitchleague
Estrada is the bomb. Weren't there some folks that wondered why we got him at first?
  20. pitchleague
I'm getting the Dodger feed on 742. Of course, I live in AZ, so there you go. We can close this thread, if you want, now that my problem seems to be resolved. Still ticked about Monday but not much else can be done.
  21. pitchleague
Looks like I'll get Vin Scully for the game tonight, then. That's okay, though. He's a joy to listen to. Of course, I'll probably turn Uecker and Powell on, too.
  22. pitchleague
nice job to get out of that jam
  23. pitchleague
I'm getting the game tonight on DTV so I'm happy. Now I can actually contribute to the "announcer" thread and others. Hope I enjoy B. Anderson. A good game would help.
  24. pitchleague
HOORAY! I got home today and the DTV logo is on 642 and now I am watching the pregame show. Darn you, DTV! Ruined my Opening Day! At least you apparently fixed it and I get a discount. But still.
  25. pitchleague
and yes, they cave. But in my case it was too late. I even asked if they could get the re-airing put on but the Twins game was on 642 by that time.
