  1. what?!?!?!? Only ONE page of in-game thread? For a win? Completing a 4-game sweep?!?!?! A five-game winning streak?!?!?!? C'mon, you guys can't seriously be watching your fantasy pre-season hockey team a;ready.
  2. so, Jaime, what'd you win at Fan Appreciation Night? Do they still do the old drum and pick out ticket stubs to win prizes (that's what they did the last time I went to FA Night, sometime in the mid-80s)
  3. I, too, called that one. I was working out while watching the game and decided to take a quick rinse shower between innings and I said out loud to my wife, "I bet Jenkins walks it off." I dry off and dress and 1 pitch after I plopped into the laz-ee-boy he rips the homer.
  4. On the note of parking lots at shopping malls, sometimes for kicks, if I notice somebody slowly following me with their car (i.e. wanting to take my spot when I leave) I'll just walk and walk and walk, past my car, just to see how far they're willing to follow me. It's good exercise and always good for a smile, especially when you get quite a ways from my car and proceed to "pretend" that I don't know where I parked. Funny stuff! Those morons in that car could've been in the mall already if they hadn't followed me.
  5. those saves just never come easy, now do they?
  6. kind of weird to see that Bush could finish the year with the most wins on the team.
  7. I agree that there were fewer words in the booth, but it seemed to take a good 3-4 innings before Craig and Bill seemed to feel "comfortable" working with each other. I got the impression that there was some uneasiness early on, both didn't want to step on each other's toes. Craig also had trouble giving Bill some material to work with, not giving him cues like Daron usually does. It was different. Not sure if I liked it more or not.
  8. as per Gross. . . . I would think that a pulled hamstring is going to take him a while to fully recover, based on my own experience back when I played ball and, I guess, the whole T.O. thing in Dallas.
  9. to answer somebody's question about Sheets' pitches on the HRs: courtesy of the Marlin's broadcast (and my memory from earlier today), the HR by Jacobs was a hanging breaking ball that he was all over and obviously sitting on curveball. Willingham's (shoot, was that who it was???) was also a hanger.
  10. just an update . . . I'm bugged by my laptop, that I finally received on Wednesday after 2 months at the repair facility in Miami. Today, my keyboard suddenly stopped responding properly as did the touchpad buttons (aka the left and right clicking buttons). Even plugging in a USB keyboard and USB mouse didn't work. Called the company and after 2 hours on the phone determined that the darn motherboard must be bad. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! I got to use the thing all of 3 days before I have to send it back!!!!!
  11. I honestly do not remember the last time I bought an album by a mainstream music group. I think my wife bought a Five for Fighting album a few months ago, but I'm just not into buying albums anymore for 1 or 2 songs. Plus, most music on the radio I don't like all that much anyways.
  12. yeah, there are a few forums that I visit that use ezboard and they have these really cool picture thingies for signatures. I wondered if it was doable here.
  13. I've become increasingly numb to the Crew as the week has progressed. I had to remind my wife that when we scored tonight that "this is what is known as a 'lead'" since it had been so long. Hope Coco enjoyed his vacation. Woohoo! 700th post. This past 100 took about a week and a half.
  14. I would be apt to suspect that Cirillo's relative inexperience playing first base led to the play going the way that it did. However, even a perfect throw to the plate wouldn't have made a difference--the runner easily would've scored anyways--mostly because Cirillo had to leave his feet, using up valuable seconds. Oh, well.
  15. speaking of laptops, mine was supposed to arrive via fed ex at work today. Of course, it didn't show up. When I get home, there is a fed ex sticker on my door saying they tried delivering it at 11 am and will be back tomorrow. Hello? I requested it delivered at work so a computer isn't sitting in the AZ sun for 5 hours! So now I have to try to use my lunch hour to race home and hope to meet the fed ex guy. All because some doofus at the laptop company mixed up the shipping address and the billing address. ARGH!!!!! The name "Chicago" always bugs me, too. Some people say Chicago with an "ah" sound (like the doctor says, "open wide and say 'ahhhhh'") i.e. Chicahhhhhgo. But others say it with a "ough" sound (as in "cough" or "naught") so it turns out Chicawwwwwgo.
  16. there is a little part of me that wants to see the Brewers call up Braun and see if he can pull a Ryan Zimmerman (the guy hit .400 or so last September and probably vaulted him to a very good season this year). But I know better. Oh, by the way, as for tonight's game . . . . ho-hum, what else is new? Oh, well. I still love the Brewers and will enjoy watching the last 5 weeks of the season. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  17. never will be contenders? should I just save myself the grief and just change allegiances?
  18. yeah, today was just a no-win situation. It happens to every team. However, yesterday was a very winnable game and we blew it. As a result we blew the chance to gain one game in the wild card, which, at this point of the season and for this team, was huge. Oh, well.
  19. geez, I don't get the game on tv today since it starts during the FOX West coast time period.
  20. anybody else watching the LA-ARZ game? still tied in the 15th inning and the D-backs have left 21 men on base. Geez, alot of long extra inning games lately. ah, Orlando Hudson hits a walk-off off the CF wall to give AZ the win in 15, 9-7. Oh, that was only because the dodgers walked the pitcher a batter or two before that. See, we're not the only team that does that kind of stuff.
  21. as for the lineup tonight and the comparisons to a playoff team, what else were we supposed to do? Trot Barnwell out there? It's not like 3/4 of the infield (all pretty decent hitters, mind you) just decided to "get hurt". It happens and we patched it together. Graffy is doing very well. Sure, he's not a "name" player and it bugs alot of people that Weeks is out and he's in, but what are you gonna do? Same thing with Bell taking over for Koskie. Melvin went out and had the choice to pack it in for the year and trot out AAA guys like Barnwell and whoever else or try to find some guys to patch it up for the rest of the year. I think he made the right choice. I totally understand how a Cardinals team or Mets team would be giggling at our lineup, similar to the Simmons article today ("Berkman and, um, that's all" and "Fielder will be a Yankee in 5 years") and, in a way, I giggle about it, too, because, the lineup doesn't have anybody that makes you say, "oh my gosh, these guys are going to be tough to beat." But it's what we've got and we have to play with it and I love to watch them no matter what--2002 not withstanding. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. humidity killed them. probably why Yost kept Bush in--to save the bullpen a bit.
  23. I'm still not worried. We've got 2 more innings and it's only game 1. Didn't we lose game 1 to Houston last week then win the next two before we got Clemensed? Let's go Billy!
  24. well, Nolasco is done. Time for the reliever to completely shut down the crew from here on out tonight. Man, I hope I'm wrong and our past failings were left in some closet in Milwaukee.
  25. I'm tivoing the game off the MLB package. I believe the Sunshine Network has the game tonight. Hooray me! For once I get to watch the game and you guys can't! Doesn't happen often.
