  1. Nobody expects us to win this series now, but a win tomorrow would shift momentum and pressure. This team has surprised us all season long. Maybe they’ve got one more trick up their sleeve. It ain’t over ‘til it’s over. Just win tomorrow.
  2. 7 of the 8 matchups feature a Central team vs. a non-Central team. I’m very interested to see how these go. If the Central teams do well, then perhaps it suggests that the Brewers’ 2020 struggles were at least due in part to having faced stiffer competition than teams from the East or West. Conversely, if the Central teams get dominated, then maybe the Brewers would have fared even worse if they had to play a regular 162-game season with a more balanced schedule. Obviously, 3-game series aren’t the best way to judge one division vs. another, but in a season with no inter-divisional games until the postseason, they might be our only glimpse at the relative strength of each division.
  3. This is definitely interesting (and somewhat depressing), but there are some guys that aren't on here that would make this list slightly less depressing. For example, guys like Anderson, Lyles, Shaw, Thames, Miley, Villar, Barnes, Williams, Santana, Phillips, Yamamoto... all have negative 2020 WARs. I do get the point you're making though, I just think it's worth mentioning that a lot of the guys the Brewers let go or traded (some of whom several posters were very upset with losing) have been duds for their new teams.
  4. Last night was tough, but here's hoping for a good start tonight. Go Brewers!
  5. Chacin third time through the order makes me nervous. Come on Jhoulys!
  6. In 2017 the Brewers won 86 games. A year later, not a single one of their top 5 pitchers in IP or GS makes the NLDS roster, yet they improve by 10 wins, win the division, and have the best record in the NL. Amazing. Go Brewers.
  7. I remember feeling so excited that the Brewers finally won a division in 2011, only to be knocked out by a divisional opponent a couple of weeks later. I'm thankful that no matter what happens, the 2018 Brewers will have advanced further than any team in the NL Central. It might not seem like much, but I'm pretty sure this is the only year in team history that that has happened.
  8. I'll be rooting for the Rockies. Sure they could win the game and knock the Brewers out in the next round, but I'd much rather face them than a (in my opinion) much better Cubs team looking to exact revenge (not to mention somewhat negating the Brewers' home field advantage). I wouldn't be surprised to see the Brewers win or lose to either team, but I'd much rather take my chances with Colorado.
  9. The first few innings are going to be huge. I could see either team using their "B Team" relievers if they are faced with an early deficit, saving the "A Team" for a potential elimination game the next day. Here's to hoping the Brewers can figure out Quintana!
  10. I think the Cardinals are cooked. Part of me almost feels as though they'll actually play better tomorrow if they have nothing to play for (and no pressure), as crazy as that might sound. At this point I'm hoping the Dodgers and Rockies finish the season tied so that there will be a game 163 between those two teams. This way, the Brewers will not be at a disadvantage if they lose a game 163 to CHC, or they will be at an advantage if the Cubs win the division without a game 163 needed to be played. I'm still holding out hope for the division though, where none of these scenarios would matter to the Brewers!
  11. On August 5th the Phillies were percentage points ahead of the Brewers in the standings and were leading the NL East by a game and a half. Since then, they've dropped nine series in a row (and split one) and the Brewers have gained 7 games on them. Not really sure what happened to Philadelphia, but it's going to take an incredible run for them to even have a shot at the postseason.
  12. The Marlins just took 2 out of 3 games against the Dodgers in LA, including beating Kershaw last night. Even though the Brewers' winning streak has come against bad teams, these wins shouldn't be taken for granted! Go Brewers!!
  13. Win-Loss Record: 87-75 Playoffs (Yes, No): Yes Highest Playoff Level Achieved: NLDS All Star Game Representative(s): Christian Yelich Offensive Player of the Year: Christian Yelich Pitcher of the Year: Chase Anderson Most Surprising Player: Ryan Braun (he will be much, much better than last year) Most Disappointing Player: Domingo Santana
  14. This sort of reminds me of in 2011 when the Phillies had the best record in baseball but were coming off a stretch of playing bad baseball in September. They played the Braves in the final three games of the season and you could argue that it would have been in their best interest to drop a game or two to avoid playing the red-hot Cardinals in the first round. Instead, the Phillies swept all three games and eliminated the Braves, and then the Cardinals knocked the Phillies out of the playoffs and the rest is history. This situation is of course a little bit different as the Brewers would have to beat the Diamondbacks before playing the Dodgers even if they did somehow catch the Rockies, and the Brewers aren't nearly as hot as those 2011 Cards were. Still, here's to hoping that the Dodgers prioritize entering the postseason on a "high note" and that the Brewers can go on a magical run of their own. Even if they don't, it's been one heck of a season.
  15. Way to battle Hughes. We stay alive for at least another inning!
  16. Weird, when I read the title of the thread there wasn't one particular game that stuck out to me as being the most painful, but I remember vividly each of the games mentioned in the thread so far (over the past 12 years or so), in fact I even remember where I was and what I was doing when most of those games happened. Last night was especially tough. As I went to bed I told myself that that was perhaps the most painful game I've experienced as a Brewers fan. That was probably a bit of an overreaction, but that one last night really hurt (as did the one on Wednesday). The Brewers have bounced back from tough stretches all season long, here's hoping they can do it one more time.
  17. Last night was tough but I don't blame Counsell for what he did. At this point every win is crucial, it's just too bad it didn't work out last night. Tonight Swarzak and Knebel are probably unavailable, so everyone else has to step up. Davies needs to pitch well (and deep), the offense needs to take pressure off the relievers, and perhaps most importantly our other relievers simply have to step up and get the job done if they're called upon. For guys like Torres, Drake, Hughes, Garza, Guerra, Jeffress, Barnes, etc. this is the most important game of the season. Let's hope they come through when the team needs them most.
  18. Good win. Doesn't look like we'll get much help from the Mets or Reds but a good win regardless, especially considering the pitching matchup was not exactly in our favor.
  19. At least we're not opening against the Rockies. I feel like we play them every year to start the season...
  20. No Marte, Frazier, or Bell for the Pirates. Here's to hoping Suter can shut 'em down.
  21. Disappointing game for sure, but it's not the end of the world. I'd honestly rather have them lose like this than burn our best relievers and lose a heart-breaker. Put this game behind us, move on, go back at 'em tomorrow.
