  1. Poor Capra can’t play even a lick, but the poor guy needs a fluke blooper or check swing single or a seeing eye grounder.
  2. It’s not whining when you make observations about a team losing 0-9.
  3. Ortiz seems to be hitting the ball harder but this is a big month for him. You can’t keep having sub .200 months with an appalling 0 HR and 5 rbis and anemic OPS.

  5. How do you feel about Dinges defensively as a catcher? Good receiving and throwing ability? He definitely gets your attention offensively. If he’s a legit catcher, and that’s a demanding position as we all know, he’s another prospect to really be excited about it.
  6. There is nothing in Capra’s history that says he’s a MLB player. We painted ourselves in a corner on the left side of the infield.
  7. Garrett Mitchell is another guy. The guy has immense talent but sure looks like he needs a reset at AAA. He’s just as lost and baffled as Ortiz is.
  8. When you pitch one inning and give up a run and your ERA goes down substantially, you’ve got issues.
  9. I was working late so couldn’t see it but Jeez Louise Priester!
  10. What a fun night: 1. Pratt. So nice to see him thriving at such a young age at AA. Looking like an imposing talent who’s not that far away. 2. Great to see Cornielle. 11 K’s in 4 innings is basically unheard of. Does anyone know if he’s got a new pitch or made an adjustment? From the clips it looked like he was getting great movement. 3. Daily theme is how fun Carolina is. Looks like they are having fun and building rapport as a group. That whole IF looks like major leaguers. Plus Payne is electric. One of the most fun groups together we’ve had. So much talent that Pena sat. 4. Nice to see Made with three hits after being dinged for awhile. Impossibly young age to be doing that. He’s quite literally a kid. 5. Bjorn Johnson, lefty with good size. He’s been intriguing since he was drafted. Hoping he was another steal.
  11. Not to mention his insane ability to stretch out on throws to first. Also, how many 6’6 first basemen with that impressive physique have we seen who can run? And play center? He’s like a mythical creature. Heard he’s got a great, positive personality too.
  12. Murphy and Payamps blowing this really sucks for the rest of the team who put them into very good position with high probability of a win. 8 shutout innings. Some timely hits on offense. Blown.
  13. Putting Payamps in to start the ninth was reckless with the way he’s been pitching this season. They know how his pitches have been profiling. Heat of the moment, horrible decision and surely Murphy (who I really like) would admit it. Not worried about Megill. They tried to get him work last night and so he was on a back to back plus he didn’t start the inning. Double whammy. When he threw the 5 straight balls, it was apparent he didn’t have it. With Yoho they are apparently trying to save a year of service time. I think he could pitch in leverage situations right now. Payamps. They have a couple of years of trust there. But he should be in when we are behind or in a blowout to get on track. Then DFA if he’s showing he’s not a major leaguer anymore (a distinct possibility).
  14. He was very well regarded when he came up. Papi is a guy who floundered and then all of a sudden turned into a rocket ship.
  15. Sometimes fans have enough insight to make the right call and the organization makes a mistake. It’s not a proper assumption to assume a front office executive is automatically going to make the right call over a studious fan. It happens all the time where the fan has the right ideas. Front office executives make mistakes all the time where fans would have been right. Like all the time.
  16. I keep up with minor league box scores and write ups as well as social media. But I’m not watching the games so I’m more of an aggregator as opposed to offering my own analysis. But I can fairly say that there were fans talking up Shane Smith last year and kudos to them and for calling out the mistake as it happened.
  17. I didn’t get the Pujols reference. Did you mean Big Papi?
  18. There were some knowledgeable posters (not me) who in real time were livid about us leaving Smith protected. It’s not like this was hindsight. The fact that the White Sox ran the card up like Flash Gordon in the Rule 5 draft reinforces the point. Self-scouting your own personnel is as important as anything in your organization. It sure looks like this was botched and it’s exacerbated by how badly we could have used him right now and in the future considering our shortage of controllable years in starting pitching.
  19. You’re right. I’m still getting used to the reversal of the affiliates between low A and high A. It’s a mental block even though it’s been a year!
  20. Wisconsin is easily the most fun team to follow this year. Ridiculous upside with several of our favorite players. It’s crazy early so I’m hesitant to make proclamations but it’s hard not to be exuberant. Do we know what the situation is with Made? Great to see Durbin working at third. I’m skeptical about his projection at third just based on his profile but maybe he can be adequate. He’s been rock solid at the plate. Good to have that in-house with shaky coverage in Milwaukee. Some solid starts up and down as guys are getting stretched out. I am frankly not familiar with some of the starters but nice to see them put up zero earned runs. Great to see Martinez and Pratt pop too. Wilken and Brown, Jr. Not sure what to say but we can only hope it’s early.
  21. Based on how much they spent on him, you’d think they targeted him with a particular plan in place. I doubt this was just a grab of whatever guy was available. I’m sure they saw something in particular they like and feel good they can develop. This is not an organization in the habit of just giving up high draft picks. They know the value of that money slot after they manipulated the money from the Pratt draft.
  22. At least we are getting it to Megill in the ninth.
  23. Yoho is a guy that should be here right now.
