  1. I didn’t get the Pujols reference. Did you mean Big Papi?
  2. There were some knowledgeable posters (not me) who in real time were livid about us leaving Smith protected. It’s not like this was hindsight. The fact that the White Sox ran the card up like Flash Gordon in the Rule 5 draft reinforces the point. Self-scouting your own personnel is as important as anything in your organization. It sure looks like this was botched and it’s exacerbated by how badly we could have used him right now and in the future considering our shortage of controllable years in starting pitching.
  3. You’re right. I’m still getting used to the reversal of the affiliates between low A and high A. It’s a mental block even though it’s been a year!
  4. Wisconsin is easily the most fun team to follow this year. Ridiculous upside with several of our favorite players. It’s crazy early so I’m hesitant to make proclamations but it’s hard not to be exuberant. Do we know what the situation is with Made? Great to see Durbin working at third. I’m skeptical about his projection at third just based on his profile but maybe he can be adequate. He’s been rock solid at the plate. Good to have that in-house with shaky coverage in Milwaukee. Some solid starts up and down as guys are getting stretched out. I am frankly not familiar with some of the starters but nice to see them put up zero earned runs. Great to see Martinez and Pratt pop too. Wilken and Brown, Jr. Not sure what to say but we can only hope it’s early.
  5. Based on how much they spent on him, you’d think they targeted him with a particular plan in place. I doubt this was just a grab of whatever guy was available. I’m sure they saw something in particular they like and feel good they can develop. This is not an organization in the habit of just giving up high draft picks. They know the value of that money slot after they manipulated the money from the Pratt draft.
  6. At least we are getting it to Megill in the ninth.
  7. Yoho is a guy that should be here right now.
  8. Boeve should be ready to join the minors in mid May. Hopefully he can rake and get up here by mid-season. Maybe Durbin can be a factor. I am skeptical on both defensively at third but at least Boeve can flat out hit.
  9. Has anyone heard when Boeve is expected to return? I’d love to see him have enough time to progress to the point he could help the big club late in the year.
  10. @Joseph Zarr what do you think about playing Black every day in left field at Nashville? I’m stubborn about trying to find this guy a role.
  11. Building him cautiously is the smart way to go. One of my all time favorite Brewers and I go back 50 years.
  12. Last I heard, Davy is still in the navy, and probably will be for life.
  13. I buried the lede but really like the Quintana signing. I suppose I am overcompensating for how good he looks against us but this is a guy who has been reliable and knows how to pitch. There’s been a sense that we needed more innings absorbed and JQ gives us a solid answer. He can keep us in games and get us to the pen.
  14. It’s a big year on the development side to see if we can start getting some young arms ready for ‘26 and beyond. Gasser - will he recover from injury and adjust to a full time starting role Hall - can he take a step forward with consistency and reliability Ashby - has been better in relief so can improve in a starting role Mis - command Henderson - not electric but knows how to pitch KC Hunt - can he continue his ascent Wichrowski - great arm but how long will his development take So out of those seven guys, it’s a huge year to show the development needed to have at least a couple jump up and enter the rotation in ‘26. When Burnes, Woody, and Freddy came up, they all had ups and downs for awhile and they were all high upside guys. They took their lumps. It’s natural to expect our young pitchers to need MLB adjustment similarly.
  15. Raynel Delgado was a minor league signing that was easy to miss. He will probably be a depth guy in the organization at AAA but you never know with a guy like him. He’s an advanced minor leaguer and his stats might show something to build off of.
  16. Hard to believe that Vuk and Caldwell were never all stars.
  17. Kid has great moxie. He’s the type of guy you like to have. Let’s hope he takes a big step with considerably more XBH this year.
  18. Dunn’s K’s are frustrating but I’d much rather see him than have a progress-stopper veteran idling at the spot. He does have extra base hit upside.
  19. The organization has done a really good job of balancing different position groups and across different levels. We can legit go after almost any profile. I really like our position group depth so I hope we can add some really good pitching upside this year.
  20. Is Mike the son? I totally believe his account. His explanation makes sense and is consistent with what the organization has said for years as to their strategy.
  21. Agree. I think Lawler develops for a year and then Suarez leaves in free agency. Or maybe Suarez is a mid-season trade candidate. Either way, a spot is coming open.
  22. Of our first six high draft picks, I wouldn’t be surprised if at least three are pitchers with a particular emphasis on juco or high school arms with the peripherals they like such as spin rates and movement.
  23. Hoping Josh comes back better than ever. It can happen. The intensive physical therapy following surgery is a major factor, allowing pitchers to focus on strengthening the entire arm and core, which can result in better throwing mechanics and potentially increased velocity. You never know how he responds. Tough at a personal level but it can make him stronger. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/02/brewers-prospect-josh-knoth-undergoes-tommy-john-surgery.html
