  1. I think what we can deduce from this draft is that it's BPA. The Brewers may have liked Betts, but perhaps Kirby was higher on their board. If they had Kirby at #26 and Betts at #28, then they went BPA. If we go by BA rankings, they had Clark at #10, Kirby at #26, and Ponce at #36. Some good value there. Maybe the Brewers will get lucky and Kyle Cody will be there at #90. I'm hoping for the next Lucroy being drafted in the 3rd round (Austin Rei, Austin Allen). Trey Cabbage would be nice too. I have nothing wrong with Kirby/Ponce's picks. I'm hoping Clark works out. I really had a wth, reaction watching his batting. He looks thicker so to me I thought of Corner OF and not CF and expected more power to be in his stroke. If he's indeed a 70 speed and can stick at CF then there's hope there of not having to hit 20+HRs to be the right kind of pick. There's still some of the guys I rated higher than Ponce/Kirby available. Just a shame to miss imo Allard/Whitley(not their fault) but Nikorak. Why Chalmers is still there I don't get. Plummer and Lambert I felt better about too. If Clark works out, could call this a HR draft for Milw too under their top 3 picks.
  2. I just thought Ponce's delivery shows a lot over overthrowing. I fear his control and Staying power pitching late in games/down the season as he maybe loses his ability to keep up such a violent finish. May start 94 but goes to 90-91 as game/season wears on. Thus gives me the RP vibe where he can be as violent as he wants. I liked the movement in his breaking pitches. He's very wild card to me but that was tied to being #15. at #55 that's where a wild card ought to be selected. Could turn out great as a SP, at the least, I feel confident in a RP role.
  3. Well Ponce. My #30. There's a lot to like. Can't be upset about him for #55 for sure. Great Value get here.
  4. Isn't it kindve sill to feel this way about any draft let alone a MLB draft? It'll take 3-6 years before any of these guys are decided on if they are a bust or not. What looks good on paper today, might suck in a few years. They have 3 of the top 15 in my rankings. If the Brewers had gotten that I'd be singing the same praise I am the Rockies.
  5. Rockies Hit a Grand Slam in this draft.... of course the Astros did too. But Jealous Rockies got Nikorak and Lambert when the Brewers could have gotten them.
  6. Last guy on my 35 list at least. He was ranked higher before injury. What I wrote 26 Nathan Kirby lhp Virginia Va. FB velocity concerns, may not be high enough for liking. Good looking curve. Lat injury doesn't help. Probably too much for me to consider until 3rd pick. He has the look of a SP but not TOR look/ability. Behind Bickford in ranking. Probaby even with Lambert Will need to keep high FB velocity or have better location.
  7. 10min since last pick before Astros' pick comes in. Shouldn't be this way in my opinion.
  8. Ugh...Come on so we delay the draft with an interview? Couldn't this wait til after tonight's draft? or as a preview before starting tomorrow's draft?
  9. My list stil available is Chalmers/Lambert/Matuella-Pitchers Orimoloye/Kingery/Miller-Batters Still have Ponce and Donny Everett too.
  10. Down to Chalmers and Lambert in my top half of rankings.
  11. Too bad Kentrail Davis wasn't overdrafted when Mike Trout went off the board one pick before the Crew. Not sure how to take this...I think you've got it reversed as Trout was Milw's savior nabbed just ahead of the Brewers pick. Angels were glad at picking this guy rated around #100...Brewers weren't celebrating when Trout was selected.
  12. Rockies got more talent with their 3/27 than the Astros did with their 2/5. What a draft for them. And thinking this pick by the Braves is to afford Allard is need be.
  13. Bye bye Nikorak. Good luck in that thin air with your talents.
  14. Figures. 1st/2nd 0outs and a strike em out throw out at 3rd.
  15. HAhaha Too funny. See Angels draft room celebrate and then draft a guy rated about #100....Like OMG he fell to us! Angels like being terrible in the minor prospect rankings.
  16. This to me was a better OF than Clark and only behind Tucker, Cameron and Whitley
  17. Brewers have more than 3, Segura, sardinas, rivera, arcia, gatewood, lara, mallen.... its the best position to be deep at. And when you find a Franchise type SS like Arcia will be in my opinion. You have 6 warm bodies to sit on the bench. Or you play them at positions that power-wise you question them playing there. Lara/Gatewood 1 of them to me is a 3b eventuality. Sardinas/Rivera one of them can be 2b I guess. Makes Segura/Mallen expendable then under that thinking. All I'm saying is being deep at SS won't be true in a few years. There's going to be 5-8 of them available yearly on the FA market that you can likely get .700+OPS from. Top of the Rotation Starting Pitching, or true Middle of the order Bats are something that is rare and will forever be rare. They are also something that costs a TON of money to get in Free Agency. Unlike those adequate .700+OPS SS will be. Swanson to me is the only guy that had #3 Bat skills in the draft. Everyone else was 1/2 or 7/8. And that's if they reach their ceilings.
  18. This draft, is exactly why I'm not high on SS. It's their Era. Correa's debut tonight and now 6 of the first 20 also SS selections. There's only 30teams, there's going to be 40 solid SS batters to have on your team in 4years I'm guessing. Think about it the Brewers have 3 right now and that's not including Rivera. Just why draft these SS if they aren't wow like Swanson was, when you'll get a quality SS available on the Market.
  19. Okay, a number of guys getting picked not on my list like Randolph/Naylor/Newman. So now the Competitive balance pick my hopefuls to fall would be Dakota Chalmers or Peter Lambert.
  20. Very odd grip of bat it's like he chokes up it 2". The Contact should be there in his swing but I'm not confident in the power, unless he improves the swing mechanics. I was not a fan in my assessment. pretty brutal saying he must be Billy Hamilton only faster. Have fun with a .550OPS. Yep we drafted that guy. I was trying to think what his swing may remind me of. Game to me as a Lefty Moises Alou.
  21. Have a bad feeling the Braves history of taking great to be SPs are going to get Allard here. My top 2 gone just before Milw picks
  22. Wow, yep. It's now Allard or Nikorak. Seriously this kid gave me Stanton feelings potential in power.
  23. Wow this kid is big and from Canada...my experience down in Miami from Milwaukee. He's going to sweat off 25lbs his first year down there!
  24. Okay, this is where Whitley has been mocked to a few times...Get past Miami and fingers are crossed! Good pick by the Reds. That Bat flip in video LOL! Still looking at my top 3...4 really but Hooper gone in commitment.
  25. Best arm... Maybe, not best pitcher. Just saying. He was ranked in this case as the #1 Pitcher to draft. If they feel #1 isn't a SP long term but a closer. That's terrible outlook to me for the rest of the Pitchers then if that's their feeling.
