It makes sense to want to replace Adams. But, there's the fact St. Louis has the best record in Baseball at the moment and are up 5.5games on the Cubs in the division. If Adams indeed is a 3-4month out prognosis, he'd be back in time for September. It's not like Adams was a reason for the team's start, he's posted worse numbers including BA of all things than Mark Reynolds. Oh, and lets not forget Cardinal Luck. Travis Ishikawa was just DFA'd. An easy experienced Platoon bat to pick up on waivers. If no one else in the NL tries to claim him. Hey Brewers Front office....Claim him, DFA Kintzler and you now have your Lefty 1b bat for when you trade Lind! Watch this FO fail and the Cardinals claim Ishikawa.

I am no fan of Braun's anymore obviously, but the guy is absolutely killing the ball. Now is the time to trade him. If the Brewers key prospects were showing any signs of life Id listen to keeping him, but now there is no way. The list of key players trending down vs up on the farm is really disturbing. The farm isnt working. Time to give the team a shot in the arm. I just worry more or less that Braun is once again a top 5-10 Batter for MLB and a trade right now due to 2014 and Peds would net something like he's a top 40-50 batter. Selling too low. You'd have to think a Braun trade would happen right near the deadline if not on it so he's going to have 2 more months to prove this current form is really his ability and not just a hot 1month stretch. It is kinda hard finding the teams that would really use a Braun for upgrade. He is of course an upgrade, but is it enough of an upgrade over what you're replacing him with and the cost in prospects? I'm just not sure if a team should look to fill their OF if their current one is around 765-850OPS. And the Grey area of 735-764? Arizona. Would replacing Ender Incierte for Braun be worth it? at the cost of say Jake Lamb, Braden Shipley or Aaron Blair, plus a couple other prospects? I don't think their pitching is strong enough...though its early on Bradley and Patrick Corbin will return at some point in June...so there's going to be a month+ to determine if Bradley/Corbin are capable to seek out a trade for a playoff push.

It's odd to me but when I read comments from Mets fans, they seem to want Gomez. Relagating Cuddyer to a bench bat role. Use Gomez in his place or to give Lagares days off. What if you picked off the Mets for Syndergaard/Nimmo or Conforto/Cecchini and another Prospect not sure where for Gomez and Segura. Maybe Marcos Molina? or maybe both Nimmo/Conforto? Cecchini would be moved to 3b and be battling for the position Opening day 2016. Syndergaard is Ace of the Brewers immediately for rotation. For the Mets they get a better defensive SS can move Flores to a more natural position of 2b or 3b with Wright down currently. An obvious Offensive upgrade for the Mets with Gomez. I've been against part of the solutions to a question with Syndergaard being a rotation piece for the Playoffs so why trade him. But, Matz may be of equal value and no worry losing Syndergaard of equal value for a major increase of value in Gomez. You get more back by including Segura, because making such a move would indicate a real urge to win now by the Mets and Eric Cambell at 3b and Daniel Murphy at 2b while sticking with Flores' lack of defense at SS really makes the trade singularly for Gomez an odd one. They'd have Gomez+Cuddyer through 2016. Murphy's a FA and may be a player to take for salary relief for the Mets. If the fans clamor for Gomez, then maybe the FO of the Mets also see him as a viable trade idea. The news is always about a SS replacement so maybe the pressure will force them in to a trade

Dodgers and Braves swapped Juan Uribe for Alberto Callaspo. In the deal the Dodgers are taking a retread of Eric Stults who's a #4/5 type SP with 200IP potential. Great deal on their part for their current need. Pretty much he'll be a band-aid now til the Deadline over the likes of Frias/Bolsinger. And give them at least an option for Sept if injury bug bites them again. Oh, and they now have more leverage on negotiations, say for Lohse. Say you were asking for Chris Anderson. They can just say the list to choose from is Lee, Stripling, and Wieland. Going to be tougher to make a deal with the Dodgers. Lohse/Garza need to perform to be wanted vs Sold off as salary relief.

Garza's "1 bad inning" outings, almost seems like he's pitching poorly enough to keep himself from being traded. In the month of May. Garza has given up 3ER in 6th 0ER previous 5IP, good outing of 1er in 7, 10ER in 4th following, 3ER in the 7th after allowing just 1 through 6, 3ER in 4th in 5IP outing. He just loses it what must be the 3rd time through a lineup? That or, is he playing to stay in Milw? Playing just bad enough that no smart GM would trade him away for pretty much nothing in return currently. Only salary relief. And you know if Melvin did that, Garza will immediately become a 3ERA SP the rest of that contract and every one will wonder how possibly we let that get away for nothing. As to Braun, look he's hitting the ball better. Just had that mammoth 474foot HR. Only the Dodgers offering Seager/Urias would I trade him. The guy is MVP of NL forthcoming again. Players are being paid 25-30million for that. Braun isn't even close. This isn't a 1month run obviously. He's back to what the Brewers paid cheaply for. On his way towards 35HRs and a .900OPS being worth 5+WAR. He had 3 Walks in April. 15 so far in May. 4HR in April(3 in last two days) 8 so far in May. His OPS was .547 after 18games. .889 now. I'm only guessing he'll be .900OPS but should he continue through the season hitting like he has in May, 1.000OPS is not even out of the question. And That likely comes with a 6.5+WAR vs just 5+WAR. Whether your a fan or not of his, you can't deny he's a special hitter in the current MLB. He's 18th overall now in OPS tied for 6th in HR. Clearly a Championship 1st team level player.

Guess Keith Law came out with a top 25...Guess who's made it? Law's updated top 25 prospects 1 Carlos Correa, SS 2 Corey Seager, SS/3B 3 Byron Buxton, OF 4 J.P. Crawford, SS 5 Francisco Lindor, SS 6 Lucas Giolito, RHP 7 Julio Urias, LHP 8 Joey Gallo, 3B 9 Tyler Glasnow, RHP 10 Miguel Sano, 3B 11 Yoan Moncada, 2B 12 Nomar Mazara, RF 13 Austin Meadows, CF 14 Rafael Devers, 3B 15 Kyle Schwarber, C/OF 16 Aaron Judge, RF 17 Daniel Norris, LHP 18 Eduardo Rodriguez, LHP 19 Jose Peraza, 2B 20 Orlando Arcia, SS 21 Dylan Bundy, RHP 22 Jameson Taillon, RHP 23 Alex Reyes, RHP 24 Jose De Leon, RHP 25 Jose Berrios, RHP Of Course Mr Arcia. Making him 5th best SS prospect overall.

2015 Brewers' 1st-Rd. Pick Speculation
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewcrewdue80's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Seems very reasonable. I'd probably switch Pittsburgh's and Oakland's picks. With Cole/Glasnow/Taillon. An advance polished infield 2b bat would seem a great fit for what they've got as top prospects. Happ could move quickly and replace Walker at 2b with Hanson at SS. Could try to envision a 2017 date to coincide with Liriano's last year, McCutchen's last guaranteed year(option likely picked up and traded that offseason) I'd think of college bats Happ is the most likely quickest to advance and Pittsburgh's Window of opportunity meaning McCutchen+Cole likely ends after 2017. Not that they won't be playoff contenders, just losing the talent of McCutchen and maybe having to part with Cole too for his expense. Man, it's embarrassing what they've done with current talent and future talent in prospects, nevermind what a trade of McCutchen or Cole would get them for 2018. Of course that's if Happ lasts that late. I'd just be surprised a team doesn't take him in the top 15 because how his bat is. The exact reasons I'd love Happ on the Pirates, is likely the exact reason a team takes him earlier. -
2015 Brewers' 1st-Rd. Pick Speculation
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewcrewdue80's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Eye Black, I'm looking at the video and like his lower body motion. The timing of it with a swing that is rather flat through the zone, should translate to some real powerful shots getting both lower+upper in his contact. You've gotta ignore some of the swings with pitch location, apparently just putting the poor pitched ball in to play. I see the swings he's locked in on(i want to say 5 of them) and 3 were crushed, 1 was pulled a little to heavy, and the other was hit hard but without the loft/ more of a hard hit ball to 2nd maybe through a hole. The motion is very solid through the zone and unlike my dislike of Tyrone Taylor he's able to not only make that powerful swing flat through the zone, but do so with a lower body that adds to it. Taylor's wide leg stance and almost 0 lower body results in only an upper body swing to contact. He has 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 0 HRs now in 40hits and 150+PAs. So 33 singles to 7 XBH and 0 HRs. Tucker is hitting the ball with more power in a better swing than Taylor has today and he's 6'4" with a frame to fill. Always remember size. It seems to me in Golf and Baseball a sweet spot seems to be at 6'2" to 6"6" (Carlos Gomez 6'3"/Braun 6'2") These other high school hitters you're looking at may not be of that height? Maybe the weight too. Yes 175lbs is thin at 6'4" Are the other HS hitters 6'2" and 210? basically looking at being filled out with weight? Imagine when you put Tucker's frame next to a filled out frame of 6'2" and the avg HR distance of both are equal? You suddenly drool on 385feet each on both turning in to 415feet for Tucker and 395 on the other batter. The HR upside will be quite a bit higher for Tucker than others. I did watch video again. It was about the 5th pitch he seemed to turn it on but youre right he does have some off balance....But then there's this: How sweet is that swing in the middle of the zone. His feet was also more balanced during a game situation. What a dream he would be to fall to Milwaukee honestly. Your video is from Aug. This one if of May 10th. Coach is telling him swing to scenarios so pay attention to which swings you're evaluating him at. He's rolling over his swing a little much in this video. And yes, again has some happy feet unlike the game video. Still a fan of his swing through the zone. Maybe when he fills out and grows strength, he won't have so much happy feet, because he'll learn/realize he's strong enough to just allow his swing create the power and just plant more balanced on his front foot when swinging. -
Trading partner: Kansas City Royals
brewcrewdue80 replied to LouisEly's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
All you do is make negative comments on anyone's ideas. Maybe it was because likely your one trade proposal to accept was this: With the Padres looking for shortstop help, Fangraphs’ Dave Cameron sees the Brewers’ Jean Segura as a realistic trade target. Cameron speculates that a deal of Segura for Odrisamer Despaigne, Brandon Maurer and one of Alexi Amarista/Clint Barmes could give both teams an overall roster upgrade. Beyond Segura, Cameron doesn’t see the likes of Troy Tulowitzki, Elvis Andrus, Starlin Castro or Jose Ramirez as plausible San Diego trade targets for a variety of reasons. Where is the accept button...has Segura even hit a ball in the air? Ground ball machine... You were excited about getting Odrisamer Despaign for Segura. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/despaod01.shtml This guy's stats on the season. a 59 ERA+ on the season for a ML Shortstop with upside and team control. I think you've learned your lesson from the outcry against such a pathetic deal for Segura and now all you do is downplay every single trade idea without making any suggestions of your own. You're absolutely Small Sample Sized opinion. Ignore the Lohse/Garza of 2014 and only count their 2015 Games started as your definite opinion of lousy value. Forget about Innings limits or health and just focus on ERAs. Lohse today getting beat up on that with his bullpen Jeffress allowing all 3 runners Lohse was responsible to score when a single Double play ball would have given him a 5.1 3ER outing. All the damage today in the 6th inning coming on Singles on Lohse. Tough Luck. Find a fielder and maybe it's a Double Play ball. These weren't HRs or line drives for doubles. Singles. Also, don't ever take in to account ballpark factor. Nothing like pitching in Miller park for your home games when it's regularly in the top 6 hitters ballparks. Meanwhile the Dodgers/Padres pitch in regularly the top 6 pitchers ballparks. Playoff hoping teams like KC/Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox they need SPs that can pitch in September for them(due to injuries/performance) if they really want to make it through this season. Talents in Single A ball that are 2+ if not 3+ years away arent going to be that answer neither will their AAA guys that are #4/5 pitchers with an innings cap. But those talents in single A can be offered in a trade. In a perfect world these teams wouldn't have needed this help for pitching. Now the teams can pick their poison, do they want to offer up their top prospects less than 2 if not 1 season away from joining the team to get the help or do they offer up those single A talents? Now, the Cubs could offer up Javier Baez for a Hamels. And the Phillies now ask for Seager or Urias, though the ceilings on these two would appear a full level if not 2 higher than the K volatile already sent back to AAA Baez. Offering Holmes or De Leon would likely just be laughed at by the Phillies with Baez being offered. It'll be based on the ranking of Baez as a prospect and the rankings of Seager/Urias being about the same supposedly. Holmes/De Leon don't rank that high yet/or ever. Some team will overpay in prospects for the supposed Studs in trade deadline...as Garza was less than 2 years ago as a rental, not the 2+seasons remaining on his "Stud" contract for a #3 price tag. Garza's had 4 of 6 runners score that the Brewers bullpen has inherited. All 4 could have been negated if a double play was instead made or a K+3out occured. Garza would have a 5.01ERA if those relievers did their jobs. And remove his 10ER performance the 2 inherited runs also allowed outside of that and he's at 3.88ERA Which is about what a #3 should be. Not counting today's Lohse line/remove his worst outing and Lohse is at 4.47ERA while avg 6.1IP in 8starts. When guys like Lohse and Garza have a long history of Games started you would remove that 1 start as an aberration vs what to expect. Not like Despaigne or Frias who were already deemed #4/Swingmen Starters who have those ugly starts. 3.88 and 4.47 and that's with them having ugly starts to this season. Imagine if they revert back to their career norms, especially if they are moved to Pitcher friendly parks. And obviously at Hitter friendly parks you have your worst case idea what they'll pitch to. -
I wasn't fully enamored by Holmes watching video predraft last season. Better than Toussaint but I thought his control was going to be spotty. Stats as of now he's 19BBs in 38.2IP. A little less than 4.5BB/9. Dodgers have Urias, and De Leon's numbers have just been phenomenal. I could see a reason to trade Holmes if it meant gaining a Garza in return. There's real speculation Grienke will opt out of his contract, and with Ryu/McCarthy's season ending injuries, Garza would be a cheap decent fit for them. Anderson will be gone after the season. I really have a hard time looking at that rotation for the Playoffs and seeing any single SP after Kershaw/Grienke for that rotation. Brandon Beachy is an unknown. I mean honestly Anderson hasn't pitched more than 83 professional innings since 2011. How in the world will Mr yearly injury last 30Starts? Much less any Playoff starts. the Dodgers have NO One anymore after their top 2 for a rotation likely after the Deadline. They need 3 SPs. Lohse and Garza may not be top notch but at least appear to offer some quality to them. If indeed Friedman is going to run his team like a small market and hold on to his Seager/Urias then they won't be getting any of the Star studded SPs as Hamels/Cueto in trade. To me, personally, Im not taking on Hamels contract and giving up Seager or Urias to do it. I'm also not giving those two up for a rental as Cueto if I'm running the team small market-wisely. Can the Dodgers commit to running Carlos Frias/Zach Lee and 4day rests of Kershaw/Grienke for the playoffs to keep their prospects? Seriously they are 155IP previous highs, Chris Anderson 125. The team has no one to honestly count for 180IP anymore. Mccarthy and Ryu were it. Maybe Beachy takes over Anderson's SP end of season. What will the Dodgers do to have any type of September rotation barring them moving SPs now or in a month to the Bullpen and "Save" their arm/IP to maybe get them to last Sept/Playoffs. If Grienke rumored gone is true with the year he's having, how do you let him walk and not put a #3/#4 SP in that rotation to make a playoff push. You pay 200+mil dollars to fully embarrass yourself when September comes besides Playoffs and then start 2016 with Kershaw and 3 to 4 open Rotation spots? Garza got the Cubs CJ Edwards, I'd think Holmes is a fairly solid comparison to him at the time of the trade. Dodgers could solve their rotation issues, keep Urias/Seager get Lohse/Garza for Holmes, Anderson and Lee....better yet Bellinger for Milw vs Lee. That's at what I think is current value for Lohse/Garza if a trade were made in this next week. Garza or Lohse string together solid starts, there's going to be more needed in the trade for Milwaukee. Just checked box scores after this post. Frias with a 4IP 12hits 10ER 2BB 0K line vs San Diego.

2015 Brewers' 1st-Rd. Pick Speculation
brewcrewdue80 replied to brewcrewdue80's topic in MLB Draft & International Signings
Alright my procrastinating butt sat down and taking off a BA top 200 draft list I'm going to give my amateur scouting for top 50 and up. Try for 5 each day. 50>Juan Hillman LHP HS High Leg Kick, inconsistent with it. Flat Ball flight. Poor Control not working low in the zone. Little movement on ball plane. Pass 49>Jake Woodford RHP HS Almost no video to go off of. Incomplete reads as a strong commit to Fl 48>Peter Lambert RHP HS Like his follow through. Hopefully matures to where he works higher than 89-93. Solid movement with Curve. Fastball location in lower half. Definitely consider with 2nd pick for sure 3rd. Great prospect video 47>Austin Smith RHP HS Loose Motion. Little erradic. Breaking pitches have solid movement. I envision more Relief Pitcher than SP barring more control. Motion and movement is there to be positive for 3rd rd selection. 46>Joe McCarthy OF Col Strong bat speed, strong pull swing. Low extension to hit to all fields. Golfing yank swing motion. MLB.com claims soft arm and a LF requirement. Doesn't suit me under that circumstance with that swing. I'd think low outside would be worn out and he'd not hit it. Overall in this 5. Lambert then Smith simply because SP visions with Lambert and RP visions with Smith. Woodford being Incomplete can't rank. Pass on Hillman&McCarthy. McCarthy to me would be more of a 5th-7th rd College pickup. Prospect video also listed 1b in one of them I watched. I'd consider that for him in that value of a round. Legit Pull power LineDrives that get out in a hurry. But again Seems low extension to cover outside of the plate and opposite field. -
I disagree. I think he is a decent pitcher. Unfortunately for whatever reason he just can't seem to perform in close games. At least that is how it feels because he manages to put up respectable stats...not great, but not bad. Spoken and defended like a true Cardinals or Cubs fan? Certainly not a Brewerfan by defending Kintzler. He's been God awful since 2014 began. He's living off of his Rookie full season of good numbers and with lost velocity since he's no longer prevalent in the game. You're not going to be better when your Changeup is practically your FB. Unlike when you first were called up. Teach the man how to throw his Changeup 3MPH slower like the top velocity of his FB has dropped since 2013 and maybe hitters wont find it easy to get hits on you.

Wait, what? No rumors about Lohse being signed by Milw before it happened? Why in the world did we have a thread that offseason and massive discussions for/against it(most against) then? Wasn't the rumor that Boras was talking with Mark A. directly prior to a signing? I think so. I know there isn't proof to no other team would have signed him before June. But the Brewers piss poor start would have easily lead them to not sign him come June. It wouldn't have mattered had another team signed him before then still giving the Cards the pick. 78games are played inter-division on a season. 19games a piece. A win vs a loss is a 2game swing. Knowing that, I'm not trying to help my division rival in any way while taking away my odds of winning in division. Brewers Divison record with Lohse is 16-19. Clearly not even close to an answer. And it cost the team a pick again rewarding the Cardinals with a draft pick. Your quite the joke in "I bet teams are knocking on your door to be their GM" Nobody here can live to that..certainly not you either. Yet you felt privileged to say that to me in a response? You have different logic than me obviously. You're like the Minnesota Vikings in football with it which is exactly how the Brewers have been run with Suppan and Lohse signings. Take the scrap heaps from the division rival, even comp them a pick and continue to lose to the best team in the division. Pardon me for having a different approach when knowing this franchise is small-market and can't compete with a spend as much as possible and give up draft picks that are forever cheaper than anything they will spend on such QO players as Lohse. Makes sense. 33mil or 1.6ish mil? 3 years team control? or 6years if reached the Major League level? There's your proof the other path was most certainly better. 31million+ reasons worth. Btw, the was someone who in final mock had Medeiros as pick with having knowledge of how much the Brewers loved his workout for them. So not 0%
-
Leaves the SS option wide open, only Segura isn't off DL! Flores would move to 3b. Get it done and get Matz!
-
No, it's not wrong. Because I don't just say they lost the draft pick for signing him. It's the fact that they lost the draft pick to the Central Division typical Champs the Cardinals. It was late March. They should have waited to June draft and signed him afterwards if no other team had. The team lost their pick, increased the Cardinals selection 1 spot and also gave them what no other Team in MLB had done with less than 3 months til Lohse no longer had a pick comp attached to him. The 28th pick...why Lohse got the Cardinals the very first comp pick is beyond me when he was the very last signed? Who'd they draft? Rob Kaminsky who was an appealing selection for Milw at 17 by some mocks. So Double Whammy. Nevermind that Lohse hasn't and will never lead us to a Playoff berth. It's the fact that we Aided the Cardinals to be better at winning the division that Milw happens to play in. That's what is wrong to me in the signing. There also wasn't chirping going on that another team was in on Lohse so I believe he'd have lasted til the draft unsigned and at which point(after Milw's May) we wouldn't have signed him but had the draft pick, the Cardinals not getting the 28th pick and the team would likely have finished in the bottom 10 for the 2014 draft. They then would have been protected had they signed a QO player. These were the players that could have been had: Carlos Beltran, Cardinals Robinson Cano, Yankees Shin-Soo Choo, Reds Nelson Cruz, Rangers Stephen Drew, Red Sox Jacoby Ellsbury, Red Sox Curtis Granderson, Yankees Ubaldo Jimenez, Indians Hiroki Kuroda, Yankees Brian McCann, Braves Kendrys Morales, Mariners Mike Napoli, Red Sox Ervin Santana, Royals Do we see any reasonable signable players? I dunno Ervin Santana would have been a better signing than Lohse. Nelson Cruz? Going Braun,Gomez, Cruz in OF? How about signing both Santana/Cruz while still having that top 10 pick? Things would look quite a bit different.
-
Brewers really need to strike in trade with Dodgers. Garza for Grant Holmes+Cody Bellinger or Lohse for Anderson+Bellinger. Garza can probably fetch a 3rd prospect but RP/utility AAAA type I'd guess in ceiling value
-
There are so many factors to me on what makes a #2/#3/and #4 SP. I think #1 starters are pretty clearly elite and easy to identify. Wasn't it 3.72ERA Average for SPs last season? Would seem to me you take average and base your #3s around that. So I'd start at 3.5ERA to 3.85ERA as your #3 Expectation. Probably 3.15-3.5ERA for a #2 and any better would make #1 types. But ERAs just aren't the determining factor. I look at depth in Starts. What good is a 3ERA SP if he only goes 5IP? I think that was about what the Cardinals were staring at with Shelby Miller. A complete lack of ability to go 6IP for much of his career with them. They sold him off as a low #3 imo to get Heyward. And suddenly with the Braves he's immediately become a strong #2 which is what he was believed as potential. It's the difference of why to me Garza has #2 ability and Gallardo doesn't. Also Fastball velocity. If you're sitting at 88-90 I see it hard to give someone better than #3 starter. You're now at location/pitchability to be higher. Like Maddux was for his career. I'll never see Fiers as anymore than a #3 due to his velocity with the FB. I'd easily take a decent trade offer from a team who gets enamored by his K Rate. Meanwhile Peralta and Nelson possess 93-96MPH FBs. And an ability to work 7IP. Already that puts them as having #2 ability in my mind and strong #3s overall. Peralta's 3.52 ERA last season doesn't make him a #2 because the Fip numbers shown him above 4. But going 198.2IP at that ERA shows why I believe he's a strong #3 and not far off to becoming a #2. But at the same time due to his higher Fip, a drop in Velocity by him would be alarming. Velocity to me is important and it shows with today's batters. RPs throwing 97+Gas has become the norm and many of the hitters just don't hit that, they never have really. There's just more doing it today than before. Someone thought Orismer Despaigne from San Diego would be a worthy trade offer for one of our trade assets. The guy touches 90, and his recent ER giving up isn't surprising to me. HItters are just figuring him out. Kinda like Fiers I believe in starts. These lower velocity pitchers can make nice short term runs 10-14 starts when they are locating and pitching well. But mistakes at 90 vs 96 are going to get smacked to the wall or over it. There's just many factors that make a starter a #1-5. ERA doesn't cover it. Especially when nights like last night Garza has 2 inherited runners score vs getting out of the jam himself or being his own gas can. It was the difference last year of him being a 3.3ERA pitcher vs the 3.6 roughly that his number was. Luck in RPs can swing a SPs ERA .33-.5 in one season. Good or bad. Garza had the bad last season. Kintzler a major part of that bad got the good when he was replaced. Adam just posted same time as me.... to reply on Gallardo Gallardo had 200IP+ and 200K ability in 2009-2012 with a 92+FB. It's dropped to 185IP and 145K with a 90-92FB. Again ERA doesn't determine what a #2-#4 SP is. Gallardo at 200+IP/K and 92+FB while being a ML avg-ish ERA had him as a #2 SP weaker but still a #2. Definitely a Very Strong #3. He's no longer that production that high in FB velocity. He's just a #3 and with less Ks his production now and slowly degrading would be what Peralta could immediately become if his FB dropped 2MPH. People hope that with a lower velocity FB the pitcher learns to locate more and "Pitch" a better approach to getting the hitter out. Less BBs is a usual sign, or more first pitch strikes "pitching" more for contact.
-
Can the Kinztler experiment end any day now? Broxton is better than him and he shouldn't be pitching anymore in the Majors with his blowups. There's gotta be someone in AAA worthy to take both of their places and get their shot. Wooten+ someone. Pena? Goforth? What are we doing not playing these guys at this point?
-
Yeah Stache, I didn't mean being the first option in Extra innings, more like pitching in the 13th inning or later when there's nobody left. If my math is correct for Broxton to return to a 4ERA pitcher for Milwaukee, he now has to pitch 17 straight scoreless innings. What a God Awful deal Melvin made. Let's be honest. It'll likely take that 17innings scoreless streak now til the deadline+2mil from Milwaukee just to get a Barrett Astin return type of prospect. Milwaukee should just waive him completely. Knebel and Blazek have arrived.
-
Colon Shelled again today. For 8ERs. His time may be shortening as a Starter. Now 4.85ERA 17ERs in his last 3 Starts. Mets may need Matz to finish their season, much less make a trade of him.
-
Has to be part of their thought process now. Since Ryu is looking more and more like a surgery/end of season lost cause. As McCarthy was. The obvious fit is Lohse as a rental. I'd still be curious what Wily Peralta could bring back for his youth/30+ Starts/ing ways the Dodgers have lacked after #1/#2 in their rotation? He's given up 8HRs on the season for a total of 12 or his 25runs allowed. 6 of the HRs at home with 10runs allowed. How many of those HRs are HRs in LA? LA's defense is also considered a major upgrade with Rollins/Kendrick and Pederson in CF. Could Peralta be the SP to offer to nab Corey Seager? Because if it's Kyle Lohse in trade Does he get Milw much more back than a Zach Lee?

Traderumors on the Mets: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/05/mets-notes-offense-niese-collins.html Pretty much confirms a need to tame any trade expectations. The trade idea I get from reading this is one not mentioned but the Mets would seem to have a need for Gerardo Parra's Lefty bat. The team doesn't appear to have any depth(hey! now we're talking for a trade need season ending Mets injury) for a 4th OF and Cuddyer/Lagares are both RHB. Cuddyer's struggles and/or Lagares' splits could be a target addition to attempt to address for a playoff run(like Milw did last season) It's lame though on what to get back in a trade. Thinking nothing super flashy as Parra was had for Mitch Haniger. But do you nab Matt Reynolds? Though, I guess after Murphy's decline he'd be the 2b of the future for the Mets. Brings back the thoughts on Segura? Segura+Parra for Reynolds and Matz? Push Flores to 2b and Segura to SS? That would be the new hopeful thinking.

wow 8ip vs this Tigers lineup. I dont think Id have let Nelson face Kinsler/Cabrera again. Counsell may have gotten lucky by letting Nelson pitch the full inning. Cespedes could have damaged there. Great come back by Nelson to K him. Is it official to call Nelson the ace of the team now? Take his worst start away from Nelson. His ERA would be 2.60 for his other 7starts.
