  1. Rally time! Rookie walks-steals 2nd and Adames or Tellez 2Run HR coming
  2. We threw 10mil didn't we at Gagne? Hader will still command more. Rosenthal got a prorated 4.5m contract. Hader can just sign a 1yr deal and skip Arb. Pay him what he made for this season or even bump it 1-2.5M more. All it would take is a solid couple ST innings for a team like Yankees to make a trade for Hader. Just because of that is why he won't be non-tendered.
  3. You're right about giving up the hit to #9 batter. Cruz's 3rd pitch was a strike called a ball. Burnes HR given up pitch was just barely above on bottom of plate. Cruz took that location 2 pitches before. Bottom of the zone pitches shouldn't be hit 117+MPH. (A reason to suggest Cruz's future with the bat to be Aaron Judge like at 6'7".) The missed strike and being 3-1 led up to the HR. 2-2 and Burnes could throw something different. Or Cruz isn't hacking but swinging to contact protecting the plate. I imagine the OPS on 3-1 vs 2-2 is nearly double. The batter has a free swing to waste vs the pitcher having a free pitch to waste. It's the same idea with Devin Williams who wastes pitches ahead in the count trying to take advantage of in impatient batter. Just in a stretch where these guys are taking the pitches. Williams will need to adjust attacking the zone tighter or just stick with 20+ pitch innings the KRod way. I'd hope we see him start striking out a few looking to regain the lead patience or batters lacking it again.
  4. Burnes pitched okay. 2 light hitting singles below 80mph exit velo followed by a nearly below bottom of strike zone 2strike pitch that a behemoth of a SS happened to slug out. Harp on Cruz being a poor hitter except vs us. Dude is 6-7 and in his 1st 162 games played. How's Aaron Judge this year? Unlucky inning that also had poor strike zone calls often today. Mitchell with a HR and a walk that lead to first run. That should earn him 2 more starts this series. Hope Counsell can stop himself from managing poorly(like removing Peterson for Urias PH) Not big on the whole Padres commentary having such a tough schedule remaining. 9games vs Dodgers will make it skewed that high. We were 3-4 vs LA. Expect a 4-5 record in those 9 games. Now how is their remaining schedule? More talk about baseball-Brewers less talk about commenter's opinions. And last word in battling.
  5. Another Yelich HR served on a tee middle in. Glad he got ahold of it. When Yeli takes a tough pitch deep I'd get a bit more optimistic. Of course he can take those served on a tee deep in the meantime.
  6. I'll say this. You read top 10 3b prospects and it's nothing special. (Maybe a team or 2 in our division having best) Harped on the 1b prospects a few years ago being similar. Gotta give props to StL grabbing Goldy and Arenado. Which are not only elite for 1b and 3b but bats that create a lot of stress to a pitcher. Why our offense is the problem. Nobody should be looked at on the Brewers in that way. BRef has basically the Offense in 10s+ aside from HRs-SlG and BBs in NL team ranks. Ones I can recall off top my head were 14th in 2bs. 2 in HRs. I think 8-10 in Hits. So truly all or nothing. B2b singles won't score someone often. They need the XBH like doubles besides HRs. A great reason why I believe in calling up 2 of the AAA CFs and ridding of Taylor and Davis.(which half happened) They profile as such type hitting with less ks and more ball in play!higher BA. The amount of 0-2 for 10+ batting risp vs the poor teams the team should win against is frustrating. Pitching is definitely worse than last year's, but when it's 1-2Rs given up on one of those 0 for notes it's the offenses fault missing the opportunities. Last night. 3 times runners on 1st and 2nd 0outs. And not 1 of those 3 innings ended with a run scored. I really don't know where the team will get its intimidating batter pitchers fear coming up. Chourio's future call up? Wiemer? We've got Turang-Adames-Urias-Tellez with the OFs-Yelich and Hiura. You gotta push someone out the door this offseason in trade while finding your own Goldy-Freeman-Rizzo-Machado type young batter for future offense in/from the infield.
  7. You're talking what 35days or so accrued service time? These aren't 18-20year olds. Well past Super 2 line here. McCutchen will be gone, Renfroe traded for all that matters. Best preview you can get before lousy Spring training previews is playing 2 with a future vs not. Heck you just might give a good preview for both Frelick and Ruiz that increases their trade value for this offseason. We're over here again debating on saving service time for what are likely 775-875OPS replaceable OFs. They aren't guys who are going to bat 330 with 30+ HR power if even 20+ HR power. What they possess is a 6-8year playing window hoping they remain healthy and stay relevant defensively.
  8. If Frelick is still ahead of Mitchell in AAA OPS after 20 game sample vs Mitchell's 19game sample that makes Frelick still hotter? Maybe your excitement is Mitchell hitting a HR finally so he's "hotter"
  9. If Frelick is being kept down to avoid using up his rookie status to begin next season... think that would apply to Ruiz? 14games-27PAs. That much longer waiting for his call up if a no go on Frelick. DFA both Taylor and Davis and mix in the 2(Frelick-Ruiz)for a CF battle preview for 2023. They provide a spark at the worst position win. They flop well youre already headed for early vacation when season ends.
  10. That's why you dfa Taylor when you make the move.
  11. I dont. Scoreboard watch/box score watch these day. I'm in that all work no play stage in life.
  12. I don't recall where I heard this (likely work?) But somewhere I heard the tipping pitches was just if Hader breathed in heavy(ier) that he was throwing a Fastball. Giants game with the 6runs given up was the culprit of the tipping this way.
  13. Until proven otherwise Mitchell fits exactly that type of OF. He has 22HRs in 1244PAs beyond high school. He's 23 turning 24 Sept. 4th. So he already stands at post age 30 team control. Controlled through his prime and rid yourself post age 30. The moment he shows actual game power is the moment you consider an extension of 1 or 2 years past 30, no more. All 3 of these guys could come up and struggle to put together a .235-250 season. That's an under 400 slg and likely barely above .310-333 OB. OPS under 735 is replacement level stuff. Super glad they kept the player down to maintain team control. That kind of stuff is seeing them optioned down during that season where you can manipulate if you really feel the need to keep these players in to their age 31 or 32 seasons.
  14. Read Frelick, Turang, and Mitchell I suggest my opinion because let's put their slash lines out there for projections. Add age 22-23 today. 7 seasons manipulated control is age 30. Look at their slugging to BA and it's a .125-145 consistency difference. You hope again 280-310BA. This is a slg range from 400-450. Add OB factors that will probably range 325-375.you are putting out there 725-825 OPS likelihood. That is a line you'll live with while looking for a Chourio or Wiemer type prospect who can be a 275 guy at 500 slg. Slugging that pitching will work around that increases the OB. So an 850-900 OPS potential. We've basically drafted 3 straight 725-825 1st rd players. You'll have 7 years to draft more of this up the middle type. They are a frequent player in every draft. Replaceable. So not a need to manipulate team control.
  15. Nothing about these Brewer prospects aside from Chourio exudes manipulating team control for 1 more year of control. They are wall scrapers who you hope provide near .285-310 BA. Like was pointed out Frelick's hot streak are a whole lot of singles sprinkled with a few doubles. Turang and Mitchell are the same type. Don't expect that profile as up the middle defensive positions to avoid injuries to keep that expected production as they approach age 30. Just a few more days.
  16. Cool cool. Orlando Arcia was top 10 in prospect rankings hows that worked for him? Maybe you don't really understand prospect rankings and that ladder hierarchy. Why would Arcia ever be top 10 prospect with the bat he brought? Oh yeah his skilled defense carried him there. If that offense production improved at his age at the time you're staring at 9-12years of producing good numbers with defense. Buxton drafted #2 already was slotted top 25 prospect before he'd played 1month professionally. Same can be said on your Torkelson. Its not what these players do in their first 100games, but what they could be over the next 6+years. Randy Arozarena is the possibility at the plate as is your examples. I understand both directions. If Frelick was the Arozarena type at CF though, he could boost the teammates around him. Team needs a hot batter vs the dull weekly outputs were 1 or 2 batters swap having good days followed with disappearing for 4-6days. People talk about just getting in to post-seasonand if you're hott then maybe you run the tables. As it stands we're on the outside looking in for playoffs. Trotting out the same cast of batters with this season's sample size isn't likely to suddenly be a sparkplug to a better team batting performance. Frelick or Ruiz are the unknown that can flip a switch should they succeed. If they didn't, what did you lose? Adames had this team batting better after he joined, and that is who I'd think could benefit from a that potential. Urias-Narvaez too.
  17. And you can have said called up prospects spark teams. Hiura in 2019 definitely provided one. Buxton dealt with a higher k pct/potential and a year younger than Frelick would be on the first taste of MLB. Still no certainty 1 way or another, but Frelick's k rate protects him from the likelihood on a bust debut more than others. Cards have added guys similarly drafted with nuetral+positive succes. Bader, Nootbar, and Dylan Carlson. Looking at those 3 is more likely a good sample what Frelick should do out the gates.
  18. Brewers were in 1st place when trade was made.
  19. Um, There has got to be some excitement with what Jace Avina has been doing while 19. The fact that he moves up to low A and continues slugging 600+? He's going to be shooting up lists. He's probably 3rd or 4th for Milw right now behind Chourio and Frelick. Speaking of Frelick, He's killing AAA better than Ruiz, the team needs some excitement, he had better be promoted here before Ruiz is recalled up. You want to energize a team, have a 1st rd selection make it to your team within 140 games played at CF where you've had a glaring hole of batting misery.
  20. Looks like Ruiz was playing right up to the trade last on July 31st. Theres a period I believe in days on an option before recalling him up to be reached or that time in the minors still counts for his mlb service time. Now teams are calling players up and Id have to wonder if Milw is rewinding his clock enough to avoid a Super 2 situation. Seeing so many teams calling up top prospects this past week I'd wonder if they're figuring this week's date keeps them clear of it. Also Ruiz being a rookie I'd wonder how he works the transition from recent move up to SD to now Milw and put right in to spotlight of a 1st place division team as starting CF. What Milw has likely done has given him a chance to get acclimated to his new team- while getting a chance to prepare for his living future in Milw. Going back to the option date and time needed before days didn't add to service time. I think it's 20 or 25. So his day to be recalled is coming up here soon. It's still maybe just a big mistake they traded Hader with 1day +hrs of deadline left believing there were going to make another move the following day. They sent Ruiz down to AAA-lost Lamet- and didn't pull off that hitter move. You may have just kept Ruiz on the team had the trade happened in its final hours.
  21. Pretty clear on the videos Yelich's swing speed is vastly faster than the Yelich of today. That would tie in more to back issues disallowing him to swing as fast. I've believed it was fear on hurting his knee with swinging timidly, but now it's clearly the back nearing 3years later. If he were a golfer this is like a prime PGA player turned senior the next years. Bat speed must be multiple miles per hour slower. The hard exit velocity is just how well his swing plane and barrel of the ball is.

  23. Well just heard over the radio for the Red Sox/Yankees game that Aug 10 last season Padres were like 18games over .500 only to finish the season 12-34 and a 79-83 season. Gotta assume that's a 5% qualifier. Mikolas had given up enough runs his last 2 games to have near a 38ERA for the month and he pitches an 8IP 4hit 2ER game? Would have to think the Dodgers are about to outscore the Brewers 32-7 in sweeping the series. Counsell will overplay his bullpen and deplete them by series end. 2014 Brewers were 19games above .500 after game 83. Up 6.5 in division. Finished 2games above .500 and 8games back in 3rd. Imagine that date was above 95pct to make playoffs.
  24. On a Ruiz top 100 prospect thought. The read on him is-was he was poor at 2b with heavy hands(guessing that would mean dropped balls and slow throwing action?) They moved him to OF. Breakout year with bat. Does he grade out defensively? Arm strength? If heavy hands meant dropped balls...well is that continuing in OF? Does he possess power mold for the position he'll play? Since he's not younger his rise is sorta past the stage you want to gleam about him for lists. He should be added to ML games soon and that addition may not even last til next list. Just say he's close but you'd rather list so and so since they were recently drafted.
  25. This part-Teams like TB and the current Brewers are trying to always get a bite of the apple because once you hit the playoffs, you never know. Just ask the Cards Cards last won the WS in 2011. Far better hitting than the Brewers possess today. Late prime Pujols-Prime Molina-Berkman-Holiday. The random was Allen Craig beasting that season. They had the hitting addressed pitching at deadline where all acquired had positive impact for their WS. 2011 roster Cards was filled with good players young and old, near atop baseballs best. We've got the pitching aspect to say that, but hitting theres 0. And we gave away the best closer to a team that now has the look of the 2011 Cards. Should have traded some more away.
