I have felt this way all along. If the idea truly is to get a veteran, innings eater then Marcum at 2 years $16-$20 million is a much more comfortable situation for me than Dempster at 3 years $36+ million. Sure he has his injury history, but whoever we sign is likely a space holder for 2013 and possible trade bait after 2013 given the development of our young pitching. Count me in on re-signing Marucm if we TRULY have to bring in a veteran to be in this year's rotation. I would take either Marcum or Edwin Jackson as the #2 behind Yo.

Honestly the only piece we need for our bullpen yet is a Left handed reliever... And I would like to get either JP Howell or Mike Gonzalez for that spot. And maybe another Right handed reliever... Someone like Jason Frasor. -

If Ryan would take a 2 yr deal w/an option for a 3 yr, I would sign him... It's hard to ignore how he pitched before being traded to Texas last year. 2.25 ERA in 104 IP with the Cubs.

Honestly if we can get Dempster to agree to a 2 yr deal w/an option for a 3 yr, I would take him... I would go to battle with this Rotation: Gallardo Dempster Estrada Peralta Fiers Peralta & Fiers could be flipped... Or Peralta could be sent down and Rogers takes Wily's spot... Or keep Peralta in the rotation and move Rogers to the bullpen.

Or do we say forget signing a FA and go with: Gallardo (204 IP/3.66 ERA) Estrada (138 IP/3.64 ERA) Peralta (29 IP/2.48 ERA) Fiers (127 IP/3.74 ERA) Rogers (39 IP/3.92 ERA) I know Peralta & Rogers didn't have many Major League innings last year but could we have all 5 SP's finish 2013 with an ERA under 4.00?

How would everyone feel about this staff going into 2013? Rotation Gallardo Dempster or Jackson Peralta Fiers Rogers Bullpen Axford Henderson Howell or Gonzalez Kintzler Badenhop Estrada Last spot in the bullpen goes to FA RH reliever.

I completely agree about McCarthy... He would be worth the risk... I would also take a flier on Francisco Liriano, maybe pitching in the NL would be good for him! I wouldn't mind this Rotation: Gallardo McCarthy Peralta Liriano Rogers

Brewers have been in contact with Jason Grilli and Sean Burnett... I would love to add both of them to our bullpen! Apparently Grilli's agent is Gary Sheffield... So we'll see how that works out.

Yea I saw that on MLBTR... My guess is the Dodgers give Zack that $150 mil. Nice trio they would have: Kershaw Greinke Beckett (If he stays healthy)

Here is what I would like from Doug Melvin: Josh Hamilton (Josh & Ryan would easily be one of the best 3-4 combos in the MLB) Ryan Dempster, Dan Haren or Edwin Jackson (We need an established veteran to slot behind Yo) Revamped bullpen (Only Axford and Henderson are keepers from last years bullpen)
