Says you, the self described music elitist. Believe it or not there is an area in between "thought & exploration" and "background noise." It's not as black and white as you make it sound. There's nothing wrong with someone using music as a means of escape for example. They can relate to the band, the lyrics, all the other kids in the crowd at the concert that are just like them, forgetting about their crappy job/school/parents/whatever for a couple of hours. The lyrics to "Photograph" for example, corny as they are, evoke a certain time and place for a whole lot of people. I'm not going to begrudge someone for that and somehow claim that they're misusing music and they should be ashamed of themselves because they're not critically analying the lyrics and the chord progression.

I was really sick recently for about a week. One of the worst parts is the "fever dreams" or whatever you want to call them. Like my roommate's kid had been playing Mario Kart Double Dash all day and the song was just running through my head all night long.

Yeah, for some reason the hardcore hipsters who hang on every word that Pitchfork says are the ones that come out of the woodwork when you're talking about music. You could also walk into the same store and ask people if they like Of Montreal, Vampire Weekend, or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and 0 out of 100 of those people will even know what the hell you're talking about. Unless the store is Atomic Records. I'm not saying the listening public has great taste but come on, I don't understand the complete disdain. First of all, Nickelback's "Rockstar" is obvious satire. Yeah, it's been done before by Joe Walsh, Dr. Hook, and even Great White ("Wasted Rock Ranger") but it's a catchy, fun tune. And "Photograph" isn't all that bad either. At least make something hard up like, "I couldn't lay her and then I got P!$$*d" if you are gonna reach for some weak rhyme. Yeah right on, cuz that'll get played on the radio. And if people are gonna quote lyrics am I supposed to think that this is somehow the apex of lyrical genius? It makes absolutely no sense but it's somehow a "low fi masterpiece." A fifth grader wrote what now? I'm a pretty big music fan but I'm sometimes puzzled by the elitism of other music fans. I won't go so far as to say that I'm a fan of Nickelback but I actually like them a little bit more as the critical backlash increases. People listen to it because it's catchy and fun. It's not that hard to figure out. Some of the reasons that people don't like them don't even make sense. Like this is a real reach- 3. The hard rock band poser thing doesn't bother me as much because I don't really care for rea hard rock bands all that much. I will agree they seem like a bunch of pussies compared to "real" bands. I don't think they're an "amazing" band by any stretch of the imagination but I think they make music that the kids can relate to.

The guy seems really boring and I don't know why he warrants an article. Although we're not talking about the Wall Street Journal here I guess. I just picked up this paper for the first time today at Jimmy John's on my lunch break. What caught my eye was the cover story girl and her nice shirt.

"shady" meaning "questionable", not meaning "wrong." He's repackaging the product in such a way that compromises the odds of pulling an insert printed on the back of the pack. Even though the buyer gets what the seller promised. Must be some pretty stupid housewives if he can make that much money a month doing it. Depending on how many he's pulling, I find it hard to believe that he can mark them up that much over the cost of the original box.

Yeah, all of what jwill says above. Especially the part about knowing a price. But more importantly knowing "the" price you want to pay. Do research at kbb.com and edmunds.com and figure out as close as you can what the dealer cost is. Not invoice but cost. You can find out what the current dealer incentives are at edmunds I believe. Then just go in there and stay with your price. And then walk away if they can't meet it.

Mr. Wong does not wear a tie I just read this article in Marquette's "independent news source" The Warrior and the whole thing seemed incredibly odd to me. The author claims that the guy is "mysteriously secretive about what he does" yet his whole secret is laid out right there in the 5th paragraph. Plus the secret is kind of shady. Then near the end of the article the guy admits to regularly breaking the speed limit while "street racing."

You still have to go there and sign the paperwork though. Just do some research on kbb.com and have an exact figure in mind that you'll pay for the car. You'll have to go through their dog and pony show but just stay firm with the price and you'll be fine.

Interesting. I've been toying with the idea of having an inscription fee myself. I've been doing the "any item- $39" thing for awhile now and with free inscriptions. I think I'm going to add "'Overweight Balding Couch Potato' inscription- $15" next time I sign and see how that works out.

I don't see that happening. There are too many variables that would make it logistically difficult. Plus it's one day a year and a full parking lot means maximum parking revenue so I don't see a major effort by the team to put something like that into effect.

Are you talking about buying new from Amazon or used from their Marketplace?

Looks like I subscribed to TW at the right time. I just moved in with a roommate and right before I moved in he switched from TW and had four rooms, including my bedroom, wired for DISH Network's non HD service. Shortly after that he bought an HDTV. So then we're sitting with three HDTV's and DISH's regular non HD service. I called DISH and they said it would cost $200 to have someone come out and switch it to HD.So I called TW and had them come out and hook my room back up to cable. All is right with the world once again with my HD DVR. I know TW isn't perfect but it kicks the living crap out of DISH any day of the week.
