Bovee and Pratt racking up the Ks tonight. Tip of cap to the pitchers. Not something I was expecting to see. Two guys that are very high contact and great plate discipline. They must of faced some legit stuff tonight to have 3 a piece Avina maybe had my favorite line i have ever seen from him. 2-2 with HR and 3 walks!

Sat. 8/5 - The Dog Days Roll On, Full Slate On Tap

A bunch of guys I’m super surprised still haven’t been promoted. With it being August figure some of these guys will be starting to get end of year promotions to get feet wet. -
2023 Minor League Transaction Thread
Jenkins5 replied to Jim Goulart's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
ARob, you usually know a lot about what’s going on down at complex. Do you know if any other draft picks will be debuting soon. Seems weird how only 2 have got start on the season so far. -
Mon. 7/31 - DSL Teams Square Off. ACL Plays Late Game
Jenkins5 replied to Ro Mueller's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
Considering Bovee & Wilken will be linked together through draft class and will probably play together many stops on their path to MLB, cool to see them Homer together for 1st time. Hopefully, first of many! Hopefully rest of picks get some time soon in AZ & the big shuffle happens. At this point not too sure what good it is for O’Rae & even Baez in AZ anymore. Give them next challenge. -
If you go to fangraphs and sort from 2006 to 2023 wRC+ >130 with over 300 Abs... check out how Adams ranks after only his 1st 2 seasons and 360 PAs. Only Matt LaPorta is ahead of him at 162. Braun behind him in 5th with 155, Brinson 6th at 150, Domingo Santana 7th 148, Huira 9th at 144, Khrush Davis 11th 142, Tyler Black 12th at 141, Nelson Cruz 14th. Lucroy and Weimer on list as well. Adams is 19 in A ball putting up some of the best numbers we have seen (since they have tracked stats better) in our system. We know LaPorta and Brison busted hard but they were once considered legit top 10-20 prospects in baseball and got use CC and Yeli. I think there is too much good going on with him and ceiling to trade right now. National people still are sleeping on him. Feel trading now would be such wasted value. He crumble at A+, AA, AAA and flame out but 100% worth waiting to find out.

Forget AAA...Call up Jackson Chourio to the majors (soon)
Jenkins5 replied to Brewcrew82's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
A baseball players best years usually come in prime (26-29 traditionally). Not sure why so many fans want as little of those prime years of Chourio. Be cool to see him up, but even cooler to let him play in AAA until June & get extra season of prime Chourio. Sure, maybe he takes a deal like Acuna right away but hard to bank on that. If he is as good as we all hope, him hitting FA at 26 would be terrible imo -
Going through DSL and AZ stats this season and I finally found a way to describe Jackson Chourio's brother Jaison who is with the AZ Guardians (18 years old). He is basically Dylan O'Rae at the plate if O'Rae hit doubles. Both are hitting are walking 21% both K in the 14-18%. range, both hitting .356 to .368. OBP's are around .500. Both have 36 runs created and wRC+s of 150-160. Only real difference at the plate between the two is Jaison's .15iso to Dylans .05 iso. Kind of fun to see Chourio's Bros success and how different they are as players. If the power comes to Jaison with his hit tool, plate discipline, obp skills... what out! He is actually bigger than Jackson as well. What I am saying is, Brewers need to find a way to steal him from the Guardians! He is going to be darn good.

That said player just went back "home" for final time of his career and it was amazing to see! The aspect that is most important to me that I see with Chourio's development this season is he has made great strides with his contact throughout the season and that is area he has needed to show most growth. While it has took him to July to really get the bat zoned in and punishing (tacky ball effect maybe) he has continued to improve and cut out his strikeouts. That gives me the biggest sign that shows he could be promoted and is ready. Quero gives me hope that Chourio can still increase his BB% over that 10% benchmark. Quero was knocked on that like Chourio until June (5.3% April- May) when he started walking a bunch (17.8% since). Both were plus 10% in first year pro and very young at each step. April 5.3% bb and 23.4% k May 7.9% bb & 25.7% k June 8.4% bb & 16.8% k July 7.9% bb & 10.1% k I will stand by my stance that Chourio should move up at the pace of his bat. Next year in AAA, he has to force their hand though dominant play. I don't care if it takes until mid to late May, All-Star Break, post trade deadline, or September call-ups. He needs to show dominant play.

Yeah, Absolutely no on Burger. I see no positive in him. DH who is all or nothing at plate. I remember Gallo trade debates in past. Gallo had the big homerun power, high k, and terrible hit tool like Burger….however, Gallo at least could walk at high clip. Burger is just there to hit dingers or head back to dugout. Jimenez all depends on package. Hate the health but really like the bat. He is a legit guy pitchers don’t want to see in middle of the order with guys on. Real good hit tool, good power. Doesn’t walk as much as you like & does K but unlike Burger, hit tool makes up for that. In no way can you give up one of our big names for him. However, think we have depth that can get a good deal done.

Black too low I think but he’s on list so I’ll take it. Seems BA likes Gasser more than Brewers since they have not given him a chance regardless of injuries or having guys struggle. I’m a big fan of Capuano Jr. So happy to see him make it. I do agree though that C-Rod in my eyes is our 2nd best pitching prospect… Henderson currently 4th behind Gasser but closing gap. Jarvis gets overlooked always but he’d prob be 5th.

Just doubled check, you are correct, it was year Colorado Springs moved from AAA to Rookie ball. Weird he is only one who has that. Almost forget San Antonio was our AAA for year. Even if we get ride of that part, ha he has been a really good prospect. Sucks he has lost two years with covid and injury but wish he'd get pushed up.

Ditto. He is legit our best 1B in the system. Brewer’s development of him makes little sense. In 19’ they throw 20 year old him up to AAA for 48 games & he was darn impressive. He lost 20’ cause of Covid. 21’ in A ball, 22’ hurt & misses whole season. 23’ now 24 just sitting in A+ with no promotions. Legit had 11.2 bb% .262 Ave, .802 ops, 113 wRC+, .18 iso in those 48 games & 188PAs at 20 in AAA. Since 21’ is combined line is 657 PA 11.7% bb 25.1% k, .266 Ave, .838 ops, .21 iso, 26.6 RAA 131 wRC+. I have spread sheet of all players combined stats since 21’ with color codes & metric for ranking prospects & outside of Ks hes right at top in most categories. Do Brewers just hate his 25% k so much that they refuse to push him like a quality bat should be. He should have gotten to AA by now.

I have similar view. I prefer him spending year 20 mostly at AAA in 24' and this year am okay with end of season bump to get his feet wet there. I Always believe a player should force your hand for a promotion. Has nothing do with wanting to take it slow with a player really, you want to see a level of torrid mastery. If he comes out in AAA and is hitting .300 with OPS .900 in June/July where it looks easy for him. His K's and swinging strikes look solid. He is giving great ABs. No reason to keep him in AAA. If he is out hitting .250 with .750 ops, don't you dare pull him up. He is too good of a bat to put up those numbers and means he is still adjusting. Let him click and cook a bit. Overall, he has to force their hands to reach majors next season outside of September Call-Ups. I'm 100% fine with him staying down all of next year if he is not dominating. I'm confident at some point next year he will do so but if not, September call up & Opening Day 25' CF. As for the article...... Jimmy Nelson was an established 30 year old MLB pitcher who was our Ace. After injury, Brewers build him up in AAA until June, called him up, he struggled, when back to AAA until September call ups and struggled. Not sure what your real plan was, not give your 30 year old Ace an opportunity to try in majors again? Keston never has a K problem at all until AAA in 19'. Outside of the K's he was an absolute monster in AAA and for the Brewers. Hard to say they rushed him when he produced .303/.368/.570 slash, 19 HRs, 2.4 WAR, 139 wRC+. Even with the K's, 30 of 30 teams will gladly live with the 30% K to get that type of production. He never had a K problem until AAA in 19'. He was a pro hitter profile with results as such. He simply had a regression where something with the swing fell off with contact ability. Has nothing to do with being rushed. Honestly, if we "rush" Chourio and he slashes .300/.370/.550 with 20 HRs, 2+ WAR (with his d prob higher) as a rookie. I'd be pretty darn happy. Also If he gets injured at 28 and misses a whole season at 29. I will not intentionally hold him back at 30 in minor leagues for an entire season

“According to Spotrac, the Brewers have a total payroll of $105,644,960“ It was from article BUT should have checked date. It was from February

Brewers do have a lot of expenses they lease 3 minor league affiliates, own and maintain two state of the art facilities in Arizona & Dominican. They own Carolina as well but that generates revenue for the club. Bonuses for draft picks & international signings. Upgrades & maintain to AmFam & all the employees. Then so on. MLB in CBA should have made a rule that every team must spend the 100+ million given to them in rev sharing or lose the money. Moreover, with that money they should be able to push payroll higher. If you gain 100million extra, you should be able to go up more than 30-40 million. Now, this is all still new in 2022 so we have to see how it this new system works & if it does drive up payrolls or not.

I mean, NFL has a cap, NBA have a cap, & MLB is whatever you owner(s) are willing to spend. The NFL owners are swimming in money, but still limited on spending. NBA has 136 million cap for 15 players (9.1 mil per average). The Bucks revenue was 213.7 mil in 22’ NFL has 224.8 million cap for 53 players (4.25 mil per average. Packers had revenue of 610 million in 22’ Brewers brought in a Revenue of 294 million last season. A overall payroll of 131 million about 5.08 million per player. In 2023, Brewers for first time should cross the 300 million revenue mark this season. Oh & with revenue sharing of TV deals each team gets about 100million each before even selling a ticket. Brewers salary is 105 million this year btw, so players salaries aren’t even touching the money they are pulling in for 2023. Brewers aren’t broke, Covid hurt of course, but they do very well when it comes to profits. I mean, basically their revenue sharing covers over 78% of their salaries. Pinch nickels all you want, but Brewers have money to spend. After expenses this season, Mark A should have a cool 150 mil or much more just sitting in that Brewer account (aka his pocket).

Burger makes zero sense. He doesn’t walk, he doesn’t hit, he Ks 30%, terrible defender and while homers are cool… this offense doesn’t need another guy to hit .210 with a .270 obp while raking up Ks. He have that already. That’s why we are worse offense in NL. I see people put Huira in these deals. CWS don’t need him, he is basically Burger but who can walk & hit better average. Neither should play in the field, they are DHs Jimenez makes sense because he can at least hit a baseball to go with his power. His approach is still not good but will at least K less. Now fact he can’t touch the field defensively & to be honest medically half the time, makes him trickier. I’d give up Gasser & Eric Brown Jr, That is about as high as I go.

The Scooter comp is very good in terms of body. Very similar body types. Dylan probably less skinny/ more lean/cut though at similar age. O’Rae is already stronger than last year. He will need really build up the legs & core to start driving ball. You can see what I mean in pics of Gennett from young to mlb. The “baseball butt” and thighs. O’Rae is pretty small in the legs currently. The pic of him below from (Phrake Photography) he is wearing a thick oven mit in pocket which makes legs look thicker. Lot of that will come with age, lifting, and maturity.

I’ve seen his name pop up a little lately. Three aspects to consider, 1) the bat is very good 2) His ability to stay healthy enough for it to matter is very bad. 3) He is legit DH only. The bat talent has always been there since he was in Cubs system & regarded as one of best prospects in baseball. He came up as a rookie & was impact play from the jump. Then next 3.5 years he’s been on & off IL. Basically playing 55-84 games a season. When he is playing, he going to hit for good average, slug the ball, ops in .800s while not walking much, prob k little more than you’d prefer (but not awful). He should never be allowed in field because he is awful in OF. He is signed though 24’ (13 million) options for I think 16 & 18 mil in 25’ & 26’ I really like the bat & don’t care if he can only DH. If he can stay healthy, he makes this offense better. He ops .800 in his sleep. I’d not be willing to sell an elite prospect for him since him staying healthy is such a huge issue. What are your thoughts on Eloy?

Article: Noah Campbell Should Not Be Neglected
Jenkins5 replied to Harold Hutchison's topic in Brewer Fanatic Front Page News
He is more of a Blake Perkins. Minor League numbers line up pretty well (Perk a little more power) and athletic profiles line up . Think he could be MLB player but not buying stock that he is more than a 4-5 OF utility. Solid player, great value for 19th round pick!
