  1. Bello is off to a very Tyrone Taylor ish start to his career in Arizona. I think Taylor could be a pretty good comp for him. Seem to have pretty similar profiles. I’d be very happy with that, Taylor was a top prospect for a reason before he hit a wall & the injuries piled on
  2. Surprised by Garabitos! Thought he’d head to Miami. Good athletic left handed pitcher & CF.
  3. He’s not pitching or anything, if anything he is merely with team in spirit. I’m guessing that is why
  4. Max Lazar very impressive again! Not bad for freshly turned 19 year old! Still early but wow! I’m shocked with how outstanding our bats have been! Almost the entire lineup is 20 or under, most 19 & they pounding out hits! Thought they may struggle early but they adjusted well!
  5. Sure that wasn’t the start to his career he wanted.... eek
  6. I just don’t see any type of issue here. 1) Major League experience whether starting or relieving is never a bad thing. Either way you are adjusting and learning to get out MLB hitters 2) Helps limit his innings 3) He has chance to help out in BP now & not in the rotation 4) There has never anyone to think his future is in pen & Brewers have confirmed that he is a starter going forward. He simply has chance to help now. 5) Gets him out of CS.... is that ever a bad thing
  7. Brewers have already said he can help now by pitching in pen this year but he will be starter moving forward. Hader there were concerns & debate about prior. I have never seen a report of anyone thinking Burnes future is in the pen. Highly doubt it’s anything to be worried about. It limits innings & gets him MLB experience.
  8. While we are talking about absurdity, I could not believe reading this the amount of debate over Hader. Hader is on historic path this season, is arguably our most valuable player, & there appears to be little doubt he will be an All-Star. Just because he isn’t starting doesn’t make him any less valuable. What competitive team is going to give away there most valuable asset who happens to be very cheap & controlled for long time while they are making a run at the division?! I love Thor & DeGrom and unload prospects for them but not giving away a huge asset that we need now for them. How many RPs can come in during a 1 run game in 6th & give you 3 brilliant innings to get it to your closer or enter 8th & give you two inning saves with unhittable stuff? How many of you have any doubt about outcome when he comes into a game? He does that 2-4 times a week for us. We are going to throw that out the window along with other top prospects. For a guy who helps us every 5th day? Moral of story, competitive teams can’t sell their best MLB asset like that because it doesn’t make you much better. We added a really strong piece to the staff but we lost a really strong piece in our bullpen. That is why you trade prospects. If they aren’t happy with our prospects.... move on. We aren’t giving up major pieces that help us win now.
  9. Man I’ve been a big believer in Webb since he was drafted and we all knew curveball was outstanding. It really is a Sheets like 12-6 bottom drops off hook but the change up really shocked me! It has really come along nicely. Haven’t seen velo news on him this year but if he is still 92-94 & topping out 95-96 like I believe he was coming out. He could be deadly if command is where it needs to be! It was scouting reports like this when drafted (this from Bob Glover at minorleagueball.com) that really drew the Sheets comps. “His fastball typically sits in the low-90s and frequently touches 95-96. The pitch features good life and is a key piece in the repertoire that has him second in the SEC in strikeouts. The pitch that truly distinguishes Webb from his collegiate peers is his curve ball. It is a true 12-6 offering with big break and excellent depth. The curve projects to plus and gives Webb a second pitch capable of missing bats. Webb also utilizes a solid change up on occasion. It is a distant third pitch in terms of the frequency of its usage, but it shows average potential. There is enough here to hope that he can round out a starter's arsenal in the professional ranks.“ He had TJ surgery after senior year of high school, sat out all 2015 recovering. In 2016 as draft eligible Freshman he was electric but had command issues. Hope the way he has pitched past two months is shat we can expect from him moving forward! Brewers have done great job with a few guys with command issues but great arms recently with both Woodruff & Z. Brown flying through system after pretty awful results in college with command
  10. Yeah late round 25 year old soft tossers dominating A+ hitters will never get any love by any national media outlets.... heck I still don't even think he is in my Top 30. Z. Brown reliever.... Peralta reliever.... fangraphs isn't buying future of either of them, I'd disagree
  11. Tough to say, highly regarded Top 30 draft prospect coming out of high school. He rose to AA by 21 & hit .270 with .700OPS. Missed age 22 season & last few seasons he has struggled in AA & AAA. Never hit like he has since rookie ball. Some guys are late bloomers & maybe he is finally coming into his own. Track record doesn’t support it but he could be something. Arcia was growing every season leading to AA outburst. People may overlook BC performance but what him & Taylor did there was extremely difficult considering it was the death place to most all bats. He was incredibly young at every level even after losing a season after great DSL 1st year. Issue is Brewers rushed him when he wasn’t ready. He was not doing great in CS & they called him up. Last year he gave some hope of potential. This year he has just been bad. Until he is able to go down and work on his struggles.... he won’t get back on track. He has too much talent to give up on but he can not help offensively right now
  12. Lemon & Murphy are actually both starting on DL hopefully just minor issues.
  13. A lot of HaHa issues was due to injuries around him & having to change his role on defense. He kind of got taken out of doing what makes him a really good player. I expect Pettine to make most out of his talent. If D stays healthy, I expect a big year from him
  14. Hard to believe come September, he could not help Brewers out off bench. He just has made mockery of pitchers at every level so far. Kid simple can hit like no prospect we have seen since Braun. If his defense checks out at at least average. I don’t see if he keeps up his tored pace up, he doesn’t force Brewers hand. Not like we have any stars crushing it ahead of him
  15. Per Helena Brewers Carmona will be exciting! Brewers beat Helena Senators in exhibition game 8-1
  16. This is the Chase we need. He is not elite but when he is on one of his stretches, he will keep us in any game! Chacin has been on as of late as well. Chase, Chacin, Guerra is not the 1-3 any competitive team would dream of but they are getting outs & producing. Not a big Davies fan or think he makes us much but better but he's back in 3 weeks or so. Peralta & Burnes outside of CS appear ready to help & Woodruff has improved. Suter gets outs. We are doing the most with the less than any other competing team in baseball when comes to starting pitching & hope it continues!
  17. Elizondo was outstanding again today! The 18 year old is built like a middle schooler at 5’9 140 lbs but he appears to have great command & has 13ks in 10 innings Rodriquez with another 3 hits (3-4) & Ernesto starting to show life last few games with a 2-3 game with a walk & only 1 K Ernesto 1st 6 games 1-22 2bb 12k Last 4 games 5-15 3 bb 6k
  18. 11th & 16th round High School pitcher picks Lazar & Bullock advance ahead of 2nd & 4th round High school pitcher picks Lemon & Murphy. Great to see the first to develop enough to earn the promotion. Disappointing that Lemon & Murphy still not ready. High ceiling arms. Hopefully they get off to strong starts in Arizona. Only 4 18’ signings on roster to date, I’d expect more coming soon. McClanahan is the old man in the field at 20 (outside of two of the catchers) be very interesting to see how this young & raw of an offense performs. They will most likely be youngest lineup in the league! A lot of exciting potential but may take awhile for them to adjust to the more advanced arms they will face.
  19. McClanahan really needs to put it together this season. Him not moving onto Wisconsin after camp was pretty disappointing considering the money he received. Hopefully he gets hot and earns way up this season. To me Carmona is the star player to follow on roster, he could be a really good one. To me, this team could be really bad when it comes to W/Ls. Very raw. All depends on how much growth these guys have had over the past year. Not many college bats to help. Guys must take leap. So many kids plateau at rookie maybe Midwest & then are done with baseball (Walla, Lintz type guys) never do enough to work up system to even A+ or AA. I see a lot of guys who have high ceilings but wouldn’t be shocked if they max out in the R+/A level. Be really interesting to see which ones make themselves prospects & which ones will just kind of be here until they are released
  20. Opening day Saturday for rookie ball, be nice to see some of these guys get signed & on their way to Helena of Arizona. Very very slow moving as of now. Guess Turang & Gray kind of hold up everyone else with how little money Brewers have
  21. From Mayo “And some money-savers for @Reds: 5th-rd Ryan Campbell, 8th rd Matt Pidich, 9th rd Andrew McDonald each get $10K. 10th rd A.J. Moore gets $5K. Sets team up for signing J India (1st), B Spillane (3rd) and 4th rd M Siani (sure to be over value)” Bravo Reds! They are loaded with money now to sign Sinai overslot & go after anyone 11-40 they want... not Brewer related but thought it was interesting
  22. He just needs to be down in AAA, get things figured out, find some success. Right now is doing no good for him at MLB. For now, he shouldn’t be in our short term plans. For this year we need a solution. Doesn’t matter in house or out. Maybe Saladino bounces back well from injury. Maybe Miller can help. Maybe a trade from huge like Machado to buy high with Twins Escobar, or buy low & platoon Profar. Anyway we shape it. Arcia should go down & not be brought up until he shows he deserves to be up. His defense will be missed but an offense like ours can’t afford his bat right now.
  23. Monte Harrison with the 3 run walk off in 9th vs former teammate Griep. Guessing that had to feel good against former team & following 3ks. He’s only hitting .228 with Diaz not much better
  24. Yeah Medeiros is dealing but him socking a grand slam May over shadow that! Let alone that Gatewood started that 5th inning with an inside the park HR!
  25. Peralta being left out doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Again his minor league numbers are strikingly similar to Hader. Command concerns are also the same. He is a dominating pitcher & even doing it in CS. Rest all makes sense. Erceg has not been kid we keep hoping to see & Grisham can walk a ton but eventually needs to hit (still just 21 in AA so time to turn around). Figure there are at least 60 pitchers on the list, are there really 60 pitchers on Peralta’s level? Kid was called up before or right after his 22nd bday. How many 21 year olds fly up the system dominating way he has in clouding in toughest pitcher Park? Can’t tell me not one of those other pitchers has some command questions as well.
