  1. Brewers have taken tons of pitchers over past 2 decades. If we over look hitting on Sheets early, please list off the early arms we have developed who have worked out? I’m not saying to not draft pitchers. I’m saying play your board. Unless you spend every day of the year traveling, breaking down film, meeting players, and etc that goes into developing the board....hard for me to listen to you say the board is wrong.... they needed to go pitching. I would have been fine drafting an arm. Overall though board didn’t fall that way. Draft is an absolute crap shoot. These kids now pitch year round & are blowing out there arms at record pace. The risk is huge! Not saying bats are more likely to hit but you play the board & pray. You go with gut. You don’t take arms to say you took an arm even though you liked guys better elsewhere. Two decades of Top 3 round pitchers & WAR 98 1. JM Gold 0 2. N. Neugy -0.2 99 1. Sheets 22.3 3. R. Lugo 1.3 00 3. Eric Henderson 0 01 1. M. Jones 0 3. John Steinz 0 02 3. Eric Thomas 0 03 None 04 1. Nash Walters 0 yet to leave Rookie ball 16 3. Webb coming along in A+ 17 2. C. Lemons too early I could same for bats but we have hit more times there thankfully but plenty of misses. Sheets Yo Jimmy have gave us a WAR of 48.2 Jeffress & Thorny as RPs mostly another 10.5 All others combined who pitched in Milwaukee 2.2 (Rogers & Jungmann) Call it bad scouting or development. Many of those guys had high ceilings to be Aces Neugy, Jones, Rogers but arms fell off. Again Brewers play their board & go with who they are most confident in. Doesn’t matter position. Most will fail so you cross your fingers. We have done the reverse where we took a pitcher & looked back and wish we would have took the stud bat instead. It’s a crapshoot.
  2. Again, you can always trade for pitching. I doubt Brewers said coming into these drafts that they will not draft pitching. Just way the board works out. You take who you feel is going to be the best mlb player regardless of position.... this isn’t NFL where you draft based on needs. All these kids are 3-6 years away. If that upsets you that their board hasn’t worked out to your pitching liking really 2 options.... become brewer scout & make your case in war room or kick your feet in the sand. Plan & simple. You play your board you spent every day for a year working on. If you have more confidence in signing & that player being a better mlb player, why would you take someone you are less confident in because we need SPs now?
  3. Disagree strongly... Davies was a 1 for 1 trade for K-Rod.... Anderson was more of the throw in, Diaz was centerpiece. Not sure how you think having loaded system of players at a priemium position could not be used to get an Ace simply because Stearns hasn’t yet? You load system up, get logjam, and trade to improve MLB team. If it is SP & Stearns doesn’t have to sell soul to finish deal... he will do it. Not sure why you think because we draft a pitcher in 2nd or 3rd round, they will save our SP situation. Yo, Nelson, Odorizzi, and Jungmann very briefly are only ones to help at all in past decade & Odorizzi wasn’t for us. Burns was 4th round pick. Suter, Fiers, and others much later. Those are not stellar odds. Ponce, hasn’t been good in AA either. Medorois.... who knows what we have. Jeffress kind of can’t pitch for any other team.
  4. I personally really like the draft so far. Now I am almost always more excited about high school picks & ceiling. Not to mention love athletes. That makes me biased a bit. I trust front office. We should see some college 4 year guys come soon for pool reasons. Next pick I assume will be a college arm that can sign around slot but who knows how board plays out. Brewers have shown they will go with what board has
  5. Load up on up the middle talent, develop them into really good prospects, trade them for pitching down the road.... be nice to draft a pitcher, but Brewers playing there board. Clearly CF prospects grade out higher in the war room. You look at our recent drafts & international signings.... we may soon have a whole top 10 of just CFs lol
  6. I remember when I first joined the site & following draft here & 1983/1984 DOB was young.... aka Weeks & Fielder. Getting old
  7. Well I had OF part right, I do like Gray though! Huge arm, and great pop. Not as advanced of a hitter like Lutz, Clark (Grisham), Turang, and other more recent early targets..... sounds more like a Ray type bat (the electric hands and bat speed but some inconsistent contact). Lot of boom here.... some bust as well
  8. Alek Thomas is who I think we go with, Pompey wouldn’t surprise me
  9. Wilcox have signability issues? Surprised he is still around
  10. Missed out on Pint.... now Beer....The draft is killing the Brewers marketing department last few years lol
  11. Red Sox go with a very Red Sox pick with Casas. High ceiling high school power bat.
  12. Also dumb because Arcia still has to show he can give enough with the bat to be player we hope he is. By time Turang is ready, who knows where Arcia’s development with bat will be. Love Arcia & his defense but future is never guaranteed.
  13. Cain was back in the great draft & follow days as well. Take a chance on late teen raw talents & see if they grow
  14. Great read! Makes a lot of sense though. India was good not stellar high school player. Played well, not great his first two years at Florida & then blew up this year! Helium was way up on him. Turang was stellar & maybe best in country since he was a sophomore. But when people come to see you expecting to see most elite talent in country & you are play good but not stellar all of a sudden, they knock you. You have that disappointed factor in there.
  15. Love the pick! Many thought possibly #1 entering spring. Huge baseball/softball family. Dad mlb, mom think was Olympic softball player. 4 older sisters all excelled & are college athletes. Just needs to fill out body & add strength. Lot of talent there
  16. Larnach gone! He was only I was really pulling NOT to draft! Brewers are on the clock!
  17. McClanahan would still be one I don’t want in division for them
  18. 40-50 bombs .200 hitter K 40% of the time..... I’d hard pass on that
  19. KC & Twins I think will go HS.... Cardinals will take college pitcher Singer, McClanahan, other or College bat
  20. Angels...... Jordan Adell & now Jordyn Adams?! The JA freak athletes maning the OF with Trout would make OF rather small for all opposing teams!
  21. Yeah they love their young high school arms, def lefties... not surprised at all. Be interesting where we go.... talent will be there
  22. At least 1 of these will be there for us if math is correct. I do love Naylor (also wanted his brother years ago) & Adams is a special athlete. I’m a sucker for freak athletes.... just watch his posterizing dunks & ability on football field! Smaller but think even better than Harrison from that stand point
  23. Kyler is a ballsy pick that high! They must have agreement in place for money & option to play football.... his pro future is baseball but his heart wants to play football bad
  24. 1-2 vs one of worse teams in majors not a good start to the month. Less optimistic against all the good teams if White Sox are showing us up like they did
