  1. His bat and swing is just too good to keep him down for long. Think he will be a top 25 prospect by next season in rankings. His bat is special. Last year at Wisconsin, favorite part of each game was listening to the sound of the bat. He just squares everything up on the sweet spot
  2. Ray is a two option player right now lol Double or K. Love the extra base hits for him but man.... his swing wasn't suppose to have this many holes was it?
  3. Was not expecting Michaels to not even be able to compete for a job. Putting a lot of pressure on at least 2 rookies, and not very experienced Ty. I'm now on board with at Jamal Charles pick up. Need some type of vet around for these guys. At this point, he can't be commanding much. Even if he is nearly out of gas, would one year as a rotational back who brings ton of knowledge & leadership to field & film room. Coaches have work cut out for them this season to get these guys ready! I like them but none are Zeke who will take world by storm.
  4. Loved draft. King wouldn't have held out much longer. Most thought he was going late first & there was a run on CBs. He gives us the positives of Gunter but without all the negatives such as 4.6-4.7 speed & lack of ball skills. King could be a big time player for us! Jones was outstanding pick for the same reason I wanted Peppers. He is an uber athletic, box defender. He can cover slots, play over the top, or drop inside to be a 220 explosive MLB. He is nasty hitter & tackler. Adams is no Thorton or Worley & he will prove that quick. He may be a Daniels type sleeper. All the ability in world & finally put it together this season in a defense that didn't scheme for him to make plays but just eat blocks. Beigel was TTs guy over Watt whole time from way it sounded. People forget how good he was early in career with Badgers! Look at sophomore year stats! Shobert & Watt kind of stole headlines past two seasons. Vince also missed the meat of the season with his surgery this season. His test outs where far greater than I ever expected. All 4 I think will be contributors by year 2. King & Jones right away. The RBs Williams is my guy. Maybe favorite pick. He could be heavier for his running style yes but his style is made for our system. He is a straight, downhill, one cut, upright, smash mouth runner. Same that made Grant a star here & that lead to Starks breakout early in career (think super bowl year). Moreover, he compliments Ty! A. Jones will be interesting. Think he gives you a lot what Michaels does. Well rounded back. Mays I don't know enough about. WRs I've said early I really like both. I honestly think Janis, Allison, and Davis are in trouble. Yancy playing at Purdue with zero help from his team was outstanding. Think he is has body and downfield treat needed. Someone said James Jones earlier & I think that is very good comp. advanced route runner, strong body & hands, tracks ball well down field, physical enough to beat DBs off line. He isn't elusive or shifty, kind of tight but a west coast offense possession receiver. Dupre is my guy though with all his potential. Remove 2 star RBs who are 1st Round talents & give him Mettenberg at QB at LSU & it is a whole different college career for him. He is a freak athlete. Believe he was a high school long, triple, & high jump champ. His catch radius is off the charts. He can run & stretch field. Like Davis, both are built more slight & struggle off the line. He needs to get much stronger. He has Janis like athletic ability (except little slower & smaller) but he can actually catch the ball consistently. I was shocked he dropped so low... thought 4th or 5th round. He came out early & shouldn't. Like Charles Johnson, he needs time to develop but on a team like GB, hard to do or give roster spot to. Like the pick at guard but seems to a bit of a project. That's fine though. They plan on playing him a guard, trying him at center, and could slide out to tackle if ever needed. Don't think he will ever be a star or even a true starter but hope for versatile Tretter. Think Kyle Murphy is guard of the future & I have a lot of confidence in him there. I think he was a great find late in draft that people shouldn't sleep on. Evans is just a stop gap for him. Overall 4 guys who can help defense, a versatile OL for depth, and then added a lot of competition at RB & WR. By season start, we will have the best WRs & RBs that came out of competition. Have to believe one of the 3 backs rises to occasion. My money is on Williams because they need his style back. Remember Michaels is back & he is most electric homeruns threat in group. Now he has had an off-season to learn playbook (hopefully) and could be interesting if he takes that next step. Him & A. Jones are similar. Think it's one or the other. Ty Williams Michael or Jones Ripkowski Slip Mays or udfa onto practice squad. Wr Nelson Adams Cobb Then battle is on with or last 2-3 spots (think they go 6) in order I go: Allison Yancy Davis/Janis (one cut) Dupre practice squad due to being too raw My hope at DB is: FS Clinton Dix SS Burnett CB King & Randell Nickel J. Jones (Hydes spot) Dime Rollins (Haywards slot CB spot) We live in Dime. Rollins is not an outside guy, he was drafted to replace Hayward inside on the slot. House is 3rd CB Outside. He is great option to step in for either if one struggles. Thought it was a great sign for depth. Randell has all the tools to be really good outside but so hot & cold. House could allow Randle to kick inside to slot as well if Rollins is hurt per usual or not getting job done. Gunter (outside) & Brice are good for depth but shouldn't be on field anywhere near how much they had to be.
  5. Positives: Pina & Bandy have been outstanding for us. Thames-Braun-Shaw have been huge 2-4 Villar, Broxton, Santana, & Arcia have been getting going past week Perez after slow start is back at it. Barnes & Knebel have been pretty lights out. Garza may be building trade value. Anderson, Hughes, Drake all have been good. Negatives Strikeouts Right now we only have about five pitchers who have been consistent. -only 1 starter maybe two if you think Peralta for first 3-4 starts Baserunning mistakes Villar, Broxton, & Santana underperforming Blown games Overall, impressive start for them. Finish a few games vs the Cubs, I'd be more excited. Right now I'm ready to clean house with pitching staff. Much more fun once Woodruff, Hader, Lopez earn their spots. Some guys in bullpen who need to figure it out soon as well. Like to see Wang up over Malone. Team is still fun for me to watch which is important during rebuild but that is only due to offensive talent. I usually switch off game when we are on defense. I just can't wait until June when we can start bringing up some exciting talent. Even if they struggle, I'd love watching our future out there growing & figuring it out like Arcia right now. Hader, Woodruff, Wang, Brinson are guys I hope to see by June sometime. Phillips, Cordell, Lopez, maybe Rivera later in season. Surprised Cordell hasn't been moved around to 1st & 3rd a bit to increase versatility in order to have a role if called up down road.
  6. At what point does a small sample turn into flip-flopping Harrison and Clark? Flipping Harrison with Ray would be better. Like others have stated. Clark and Ray has done nothing to deserve a demotion. They have had a rough month hitting.... no need to panic. Not to mention Ray missed most of the off-season with an injury. He got some ABs towards the end of spring then started out in extended Spring. Give guy a chance to settle in. Outside of Gatewood and Stokes, none of the big names in lineup have been close to consistent. Diaz finally starting to get hot. Erceg was hot but has died off. Erceg and Stokes are only 2 everyday players striking out less than 20%. Aviles and Diaz are at 24% Gatewood 28% Mcdowell respectable 20%, Wilson 27%, Belonis 30% I am on opposite side on Harrison in that come late May/ Early June, if he is still producing he needs to come up. I get one month is too short though. Want to boost his confidence, getting promoted and placed back with your team will do that. He is only one in that wave who was held back and for good reason. Sadly for him he has had major success at both Helena and Wisconsin for stretches but right when he has figured it out and is rolling the baseball gods have struck him down.
  7. Cory Ray and Erceg are the two black holes on a team that walks at very good rate. Thus far that has really surprised me as both are college ready, professional hitters. Ray at 4% and Erceg 5%. Others: Rijo 23.5% Clark 19% Gatewood 16.5% Stokes 12.5% Aviles 12% Wilson 11% Belonis 9% Diaz 9% Mcdowell 8.5% I wonder if the high strikeout rates is due to an emphasis put on to working counts, being patient, and trying to be picky at the plate. When young and learning to be a patient hitter, there are a lot of K's looking. i use to have a great site (minorleaguecentral.com) that tracked minor league sabre metrics including Ks swing, looking, swings out and in the strike zone....then line drives, fly outs, ground outs. I believe site has shutdown now sadly. After all my research over past few years, the first and most important stat I look at is BB% and K% Most top tier MLB sit in the 10%+ range in BB% and hoover around 20% or lower in K's. To me that is the first key to a great hitter at the plate....then I start to look at the other stats. Way I grade players out, Stokes is always a stud and one of best players in our system. Feel he will never get the love he deserves and will stay overshadowed by all the "big name" OFs in our system. He is a 12% BB 16% K 7.5 Speed 13% ISO and 120 RC+ career guy to date. .370 OBP .420 SLG . Doesn't set world on fire but man he is solid as solid gets!
  8. Williams is perfect for what the Packers need him for. His running style matches the Packers down-hill, one-cut, pound style. He is that same upright, one cut guy Ryan Grant and James Starks were. Not as nimble or big as Lacy, but like Eddie; he will come at you and try to run you over. Every roster needs at least one down hill back and he fits mold. Should be interesting with Aaron Jones in mix as well. Yancey I believe right away is better than Davis & Janis.....Could compete with Allison for number 4! Biggest thing working against DeAngelo was that fact he played at Purdue who is pretty awful and have been his whole career there. 40 catches for over 900 yards and 4 TDs over 60 yards kind of shows his down field ability. He did the most with what he was given. He has some talent imo
  9. Like the Jamaal Williams Pick! He is a thumper and powerful guy who should offset Ty!
  10. Really excited about the draft so far. Adams was a 5 Star prospect, came in and played right away for a SEC Auburn team, and player really well in a defense that had him inside eating blocks the majority of the time. I don't see Thorton in him outside of both being explosive 3rd round DL's. Thorton was weak vs the run and could get dominated easily. His whole deal is he was explosive to get strong push and could pass rush (flopped on both. Adams is a man... he plays like a man.
  11. So hard to tell right now with how deep this draft is. A lot of guys could go early teens or drop out of 1st round completely. Should be fun and interesting to watch. This draft is 100% about team preference. There is so little of a difference in rankings at positions such as CB, RB, QB, WR, OT, MLB, TE and etc that most rankings have guys shuffled all up. What we know: Myles Garrett EDGE Solomon Thomas DE/DT Leonard Fournette RB Malik Hooker FS Jamal Adams SS Johnathon Allen DT/DE OJ Howard TE And maybe add CB M. Lattimore Those are the ELITE Prospects in the draft who are clear #1's at position. After that it is a mess. MLB: R. Foster, H. Reddick, J. Davis , Z. Cunningham, and R. McMillian........ To me all three are outstanding backers who can play 3 downs and all should have 1st to Mid 2nd round grades. All about what traits you like better. Reddick is a freak and kind of the inside/outside CM3 type guy. Foster, Davis, Cunningham... take a pick! They are complete MLBs who make plays sideline to sideline. Also all leaders. Foster though has the off-field trash. McMillian, your typical uber athletic, playmaking OSU MLB. Follows two former favorites Shazier and Lee. To me: 1. Davis 2. Foster 3. Reddick 4. McMillian 5. Cunningham I have broke down CBs before....it is a mess. White, Humphrey, Conley, King, Moreau, Awuzie, Jackson, Q. Wilson, S. Jones have ALL seen names pop up all over the 1st round in Mocks from top 10 to late 2nd for some. Absolute crap shoot. That is not even listing Taber, Tinkersley, Witherspoon, D. King, J. Lewis, Sutton who all have mostly received 2nd round grades by most scouts. OLB/EDGE TJ Watt, Barnett, Taco, McKinley and C. Harris are the other 5 EDGE 1st round options after Thomas and Garrett. Watt & McKinley are your explosive freak athlete types on the edge (CM3's) Barnett & Harris are not flashy but productive and good (N. Perry) Taco is you Julius Peppers. Play him hand down DE, Stand him up on the edge. Very talented and versatile kid with great size. RB What kind of back would you like? For Packers... you want someone who is different to Ty IMO. Ty to me is a poor mans D. Cook who can be tough runner inside and get edge, and is a weapon out of the backfield. Hammer Backs (Your Lacy Thunder types) Only Foreman should be considered in 2nd round..... none in 1st 1. D. Foreman 2. S. Perine 3. B. Hill 4. J. Conner 5. D. Smith Complete do it all backs (Ty Moontgomery) 1. Joe Mixon 2. D. Cook 3. A. Karama 4. M Mack 5. W. Gallman (I like in the mid rounds a lot) Home RUN Threats. 1. Christian McCaffrey 2. J. Mixon I put Mixon down again because him and McCaffrey are in a class of their own as weapons. They literally can score from anywhere at any moment. Christian cannot take pounding of an every down back (20 plus carries a game) but he is huge weapon. Mixon can take the 20 plus carries a game be an explosive workhorse. Cook and Kamara are explosive but in my opinion not on same level. I think if it wasn't for his actions, he is a top 10 pick based on talent right behind Fournette. QB: There are four top QBs in this class with one looking in from the outside. All are very different in what they offer. None should be a top 10 pick but teams are dumb. The most talked about #1 is Trubisky. Trubisky at his absolute best is a Top 10-20 QB if it all works out for him. He could be Alex Smith like which is okay. You can win with that. He doesn't have skills that fly of the sheet at you. The fact he wasn't good enough to beat out a not very good QB troubles me a lot. He doesn't have that relentless winning edge Watson does. Watson is a leader and a winner. He has the skills there but needs to be refined. I will take a guy like Watson any day of the week to lead my team. You can't teach the kind of leadership, heart, competitiveness he has. Watch Alabama and Louisville games. He will not go down without a fight to his last breath. Has the arm, feet, and brains. Draft him, let him learn, and you have a future starting QB Patrick Mahomes - Think Brett Favre. Think what you loved about him....now think about what made you rip your hair out! That is Pat Mahomes. God blessed him with an incredible arm! He is definition of a gunslinger. He needs a coach like Holmgren who can rein him in and teach him how to play QB. Bruce Ariens and Arizona is the perfect place for him to reach potential. He makes throws that will drop your jaw but then he will make an equal amount of throws that have you scream at TV. Kizer- Dream up the a QB in your head...size, arm, smarts, and all that good stuff .... Kizer probably is what pops up. All the tools in the world to be outstanding. Problem he is not outstanding, he does not make a team better, he is not a good leader, he is said to be a classic millennial, and he seems more concerned with how good he thinks he is over how good he really is. This season at N.D. was not pleasant and really made me fall completely of bandwagon. It was not like N.D. doesn't have talent him to work with. If you are drafting on who will be best when said and done individually: I believe Mahomes with right coach Which one will win most games: Watson hands down. Like Dak, regardless to personal stats, he makes people around him better, The one who will be solid starter and may end up reliable Journey QB Trubisky Next J Russ or at best J. Freeman....Kizer Watch out for Webb from Cal, similar to Trubisky to me
  12. Yup as I called it.... Hall pitching a gem. Biloxi helping bring down his 8.00 plus era
  13. Sadly, right now..... I don't think there is a pitcher in AA who couldn't shine against Biloxi. Their bats are just in hibernation still & have shown little signs of wanting to wake up yet. Early tip of the hat to Brooks Hall on his most likely unhittable performance.... please prove me wrong Shuckers
  14. At TRats game, ugly start but bats getting hot now! Demi just launched a a no doubt rocket over left field wall into the trees.
  15. Monte & Demi are real hot last 7 and 6 game hit streaks respectively! Monte another bomb tonight! Harrison:7G 25AB 12H 1 2B, 3 HR, 9RBI, 2BB 3K Orimolye: 6 G, 23AB, 10 H, 2 2B, 3HR. 7RBI, 1BB 8K Too many Ks for Demi but overall nice to see them hot! Shocked with how little those two are running though....freak athletes not taking any bases. Brinson is an animal....Is Super 2 past yet?!? Can't come soon enough! Dubon only one hitting over .250 in Biloxi...Ortega only other one hitting over .215.....yikes. Biloxi isn't use to that awful of an offensive of a team.
  16. Harrison again! Have a hard time seeing if he stays healthy, he won't be in Carolina by May. Even with Ray Clark Stokes, with DH, all can get plenty of ABs Belonis will lose some but he's really not hitting or getting on base at all.
  17. Mudcats aren't. Mind blowing. So many really good hitters who just aren't right now. Hopefully we just got a bunch of ARam's there who are slow starters then mid May to June they hit stride until end of season.... aka Diaz last year
  18. [sarcasm]Shocking that an athletes body has changed and gotten stronger since he was 25/26.... Not too mention he was a pretty small guy before Korea[/sarcasm] What a joke
  19. Harrison is clicking
  20. I like Mixon the player. Heard right now he may fall to late rounds or maybe not be drafted despite being a top back in draft. He lit the female up pretty good. Very comparable to Rice's act. It's an unacceptable act that is for sure. He was dumb and 18. Think a lot has to do with interviews and character checks if you are going to take a flyer on him. Is he worth the drama and criticism you will face for bringing a guy like him in? Wouldn't spend 2 or 3 round pick but he falls to 5-7th I'd be fine. Instantly best back on roster when drafted & mileage is lower. If only he would have grabbed the Wisconsin hat..... he was very close to coming to Madison
  21. Phillips had an ugly 5 game stretch where he was 2-20 with 1bb to 9Ks and no XBH 2RBIs In other 6 games (first 2 & last 4) 12 of 24 (.500BA) 2 Doubles 7 runs 3HRs 10 RBIs 4 BBs 7Ks. Problem is I think his swing isn't consistent enough and he's not a a great contact hitter so those 2-20 streaks with a lot of Ks will come & go
  22. Phillips over last 3 games, 13abs 7 hits 1 2B 1 bb only 3 Ks.... hopefully he is starting to figure it out and click. Power is not there this season so far with on 3 XBH & walks are down as well. Broxton better figure it out by June otherwise him & Brinson will be swapping places. He is back & on fire again!
  23. The great thing about him is he is athletic and so young. He has the tools to stick behind plate. He is not more of a project like Lawrie, Coulter or Nottingham where there are a lot of red flags they need to fix. His biggest hurdle is age and being raw. Even if bat is outstanding all the way up, think it is hard for a team to move a guy who can actually catch off due to his bat. Plus a bat losses a lot of value often after moved off (unless they are a power hitting OF or 1B) He could be our Meijia we never got in trade. Only 12 games in & I don't see his bat sustaining all season. Overall, you over look offense with a guy like him to make sure he develops right behind plate. Hard to believe he will be 18 all season! It's exciting!
  24. Shaw started hot, slumped bad (think like 1-16) now he's back to roasting the ball! Domingo has been solid. Really like 2-6 right now of lineup! Thames, Braun, Shaw, Santana, Pina/Bandy! Broxton & Villar are completely lost right now at plate. Arcia has his days.... I expect those growing pains with him. Villar & Broxton need to wake up! Don't know what happen, Broxton was killing the ball all spring and then season started.... he's like a lost puppy at the plate. He use to have at least good at bats & work counts before striking out. Now he is get up & sit down. I'm confident he will snap out of it but right now is ugly for him.
  25. It's the old conundrum of trying to develop a bat-first high school age catcher - they have to spend so much development time behind the plate that their offensive game isn't being challenged enough. He has the tools to stay at catcher, but I believe he's more of a bat-first prospect who has the tools to develop more quickly elsewhere so that his bat can carry him. But, the Brewers have time to figure that out, and his progress defensively over the next year or two will ultimately determine if the Brewers keep him at catcher or not. From listening to Erickson and reading reports on his defense, he is much more advanced than we thought he was coming out last year. I guess he does an outstanding job of handling the pitchers, has good arm, and is solid receiver. I think he would have been in Helena if they thought he needed more work on his catching. I don't think it was they thought his bat was too good or advanced for the level. Think he just proved to them he was ready enough on both sides. He has started 7 of the 12 behind the plate and DH'ed twice. He has yet to have a pass ball or error (small sample I know but bat first Coulter loaded those up quick) Only 2 of 7 throwing runners out. I don't think that is due to arm or pop time being too slow just learning. We will see if that improves. Overall, I think the Brewers like his potential and will keep him at catcher until he proves that he can't play there. Now that means they will most likely play him one level a year despite how good the bat is to make sure his defense develops enough but if he continues to hit up going forward with solid D with that plan.
