  1. I left him off due to our large amount of OFs. I know you don't draft by position depth however I'd prefer us to go get something we have lacked a long time, a possibly dominant Ace. Rutherford , Banks, Beer are all guys I'd normally like a lot but hard not to pull trigger on one of those arms. Of course if Rutherford looks like he will be next great MLB Bat & is BPA on our board..... I won't be upset at all. To bad he can't play Corner IF/3b
  2. I almost never watch games, especially when they are playing like this. If a young guy is on the mound I will flip it on for a bit or if some other young talent like Michael Reed get a start I'll make time to throw it on. Life is busy enough, much rather be outside with the kids or etc. Yet everynight I'm on here, going through Twitter, bleacher. Report, checking box scores. I can talk intelligently about whole farm system from DSL up. So while I disagree with the watching losers is for losers....very little correlation in my opinion between how big a fan you are to amount of games you watch. Not watching doesn't make you a bandwagon fan. Simply not following a team cause they are losing does. If you post on this site....brewerFAN.net chances are good, you are still a fan
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if Jose Cibrian starts out in Arizona. He is their top signing and I would t be shocked if they are very high on him. Overall he may have only been #29 but Venevuela is a much less scouted & their top prospects don't garner same type of hype. Brewers tend to find some gems from there! No one was raging Arcia as anything, he signed, broke out at16/17 in DSL as a real prospect.
  4. Love the pick! Like the day after Melvin announced in other forum I posted a long thing on how much I'd love Stearns! Way before I even knew he was a candidate! Someone mentioned Astros are an okay team...have you seen the young talent they have?! The young talent like Hader & Santans they stole in trades, or how they call or trade everyone off & still have a top 10 farm system? Yeah I guess they are okay....
  5. Doug Melvin steps down as GM; moves into advisory role Looks like Mark has read the forum and is on same page as me!
  6. Skip Ortega, go Lopez. With day off, it's his regular day I believe. That's his true Ace moment! Unless he is replacing Nelson next start. But in end, hope my boy Hader gets it done!
  7. Have lost 28 of last 38 against them..... Us losing to the Cards is almost as certain as the sun coming up in the morning & the moon at night. I don't even hate it anymore....just numb to it
  8. Top 6 equals one of Pint, Groom, Hansen, Puk, Tyler, Bergner as of now. Plenty of other guys like Ruthledge/Banks/Beer could push those arms down further. The more I look at it, all these arms are fairly close right now. All tier 1 guys as of right now IMO. We finish top 7 we are in very good shape still
  9. His growth rate season to season has just been unreal & rapid. Same could be said for Phillips. Both 21, each season they have taken giant leaps forward, both are something that we haven't had in long time. They are top 20-30 prospects in baseball. Arcia making a case for Top 5....considering he was fringe top 100 & stuck behind Tyrone Taylor by many coming into the season, that is a pretty good rise! Both of them seem to just have that it factor, swagger, & clutchness that we haven't had much of since the untuckem crew (Fielder, Braun, and rest of gang). Issue is that they have made such rapid gains every year and both still have plenty if projection left. Some may call me crazy but if Arcia starts to fill out, with his natural swing/power I honestly could see him hitting 15-20 HRs a season once he hits prime. I just don't want to see them rushed. There is no hurry. I believe both should be in AAA, still learning to win as a group & still growing there game. Bring them up August or September like Santana this year. 2017 will be their year to shine. August/September will give them that 1st taste, experience, and allow them to adjust. Same goes for Lopez, Hader, Wagner, Houser unless absolutely needed I call Biloxi in 3 again, offense is roasting, and pitchers have been incredible! Just clicking on a Cardinals in 2011 September to October level
  10. Another quarter is vs Reds who seem to not even try against the Brewers
  11. Arcia & Phillips with Championship Game Homers so far with Lopez dealing.... Visions of 2019 Brewers World Series run!
  12. Me personally as of now like Pint, Groom, or Bergner but I'm 100% bias because I love prep arms. Hansen is college arm I feel best with
  13. If we land in top 7 we are still in great shape for a stud big arm prospect Hansen Puk Pint Groom Begner Tyler Jones That's a way too early look Offensively it's rough. There are two promising top 10 bats but both are OFs in Rutherford & Bsnks.... A big wait & see if some corner IF, Middle IF or catching prospects rise. To hard to tell this early though. This time a couple years ago, it appeared Gatewood was a lock top 5 pick....
  14. It's all playing the odds: more options, higher probability of getting a star. No sure thing but it increases your chances
  15. And his curveball. I think it is extremely raw for him not to have much of a curve, Subero raves about how great it was after every game. It's nice to know that he can not have it going though and still play nearly 6 inning of no hit ball. I have heard a lot of the very good fastball & curve but his change up is never mentioned
  16. Guess that answers some questions about his change up & confidence in the pitch
  17. I don't know, I don't want to really see Cards or Cubs succeed (Pirates I don't mind, we still own them) but I care more about our own future more than my dislike of them. Now I know there is no certainty picking earlier will land you the next superstar however, if you trust your amature scouting director, you have to like him having as many high end talent to choose from.
  18. Johnson I believe has been replaced by Ortega. I could be wrong but I could of swore I say him listed as the game 5/ #5 starter Pitching has been unreal, I hope they go with Hader 1st then you could skip 5 spot to get back to Lopez, Houser, and Wagner to close it out.
  19. With each win we move further away from Groome & Pint :/ I hate to see Brewers lose, however, those are two arms I'd really like to see become Brewers!
  20. Ouch..... That has to make Green feel good, He is already back down in AA as a former top prospect and mlb player in our system, they make playoffs, and then they send him down to get him off the roster.
  21. Hope not..... Braun was older than 21, physically developed, and 100% ready to be a star when he was called up. Arcia still needs to be able to develop more. We aren't going to be good next year, no need to rush guys before they are 100% ready and proves that he absolutely no longer needs grooming in the minors as Braun did.
  22. Think it's time we all start talking about Houser, sitting 96 in 8th touch 98 throughout the game. Don't know much about his secondary stuff but at 22, he has been pretty dominant since coming over in the trade!
  23. I agree and feel the same with preferring to see players promoted faster, to me it just says more about the player & their abilities being younger at all the levels while experiencing success. Lara dominating Wisconsin at 18/19 says more about his ability than Dustin DeMuth at 24 or a 22 year old play good at the A ball level. No science just the way I look at it. With Kodi, he is so young, he could be held back again still be young if youngest players in league. If he starts in BC his opening day eta will be age 22 season. He'd be 20 for half his AA season. If held back, eta 23 years old, 21 at AA ( figuring the healthy 1 level per year) both are still very good. My heart wants him in BC but at same time, I'd be nice for him to go back to Wisconsin and hopefully flash some Ace like dominance consistantly
  24. I view all these Medeiros debates like politics, just have to have to find the middle. TheCrew will always be on the one extreme end of the spectrum. Kodi can throw 3 straight no hitters and the location/command of his pitches will still be nit picked. He will give credit to the filthiness of his stuff, but harp on him throwing it over controlling it. Perfectly understandable explanation. In his scouting mind, that is extremely important. All scouts see and look at different things. Doesn't make him right or wrong. The same goes to the good number of posters who are on the other complete end of the spectrum and absolutely drool over Medeiros. They focus on all the good, and then all the bad is cancelled out by age. I agree with TheCrew about one major aspect of his game, that he is right now simply a thrower, not a pitcher. To me it is not so much an issue as of right now due to age, lack of experience, coaching and the amount of movement he does have takes time to harness. TheCrew is also right that as of right now, his stuff at AA or AAA would have his BB/9 going up even higher and/or him getting shelled. In A ball you can get away with simply throwing and letting the life of the ball do all the work. At the upper levels, they have much better eyes at the plate and are too advanced of hitters to not locate and harness your stuff. On the other side of spectrum I do think he has overall had a real good season. Kid turned 19 this summer and more than held his own. I can see the promise that everyone is so excited about. I completely understand though he has to take at least a good Jorge Lopez step next year (Wisconsin to BC). That is what path you hope Kodi follows. I absolutely do not feel he warrants being held back at all. If there is a place for a pitcher to go to work on pitching over throwing, BC is the place to be. He can afford to make more mistakes working on his craft there. I think it is good to keep him, Devin, Ventura, Ponce together and think Leal is an excellent catcher to have working with him. The only two benefits of holding him back are: 1) He can experience dominating. He goes to A+ right away he will most likely not come up and be lights out spectacular but be adjusting and learning. In Wisconsin, he is taking that ball opening day as their no piggy back Ace and is expected to make the leap from good/solid Midwest League pitcher to Frontline Midwest League pitcher. 2)Put him with that big next wave in order to help build a strong winning culture for these kids. The way it is looking right now, BC's offense is not going to have there pitchers in good positions to win too many games. That said, I believe in always pushing and challenging your prospects. Be aggressive and see how they due,
