  1. Yeah, Box has been great. His WHIP is jist ridiculously consistent. Always feels like a batter per inning.
  2. Eh, who would you hve pinch hit with that would give you more confidence than the pitcher they'd have to put in to cover the next (and probably next two) innings? Taylor is the only competent hitter on the bench but we do have the option of using someone like Burnes for an inning or two. Really doubt Burnes throws today. Let that knee heal and start him on 8 or so daus rest out the gate.
  3. Wonder if the deciding factor there was just no lefty on the bench. Giving up the platoon maybe takes enough out of the position player upgrade to stick with Woody and try to get a few more outs.
  4. Yeah, I'd swap Urias and Peterson, and maybe Yelich and Adames, but this personnel set is really cool and fun to hope on. Plus, Taylor.
  5. When I want to feel better about the lineup, I picture: Wong Urias Yelich Adames Narvaez Garcia/Taylor Peterson/Tellez Cain Obviously some question marks there, but that's the best lineuo, and we really haven't been able to play it at all...
  6. That little flare from Castillo was a touch scary off the bat. Reds have been at it with baserunnners all series.
  7. The Brewers have seen Castillo what? 4 times this year? They see him all the time. I know he's good, but man. That was a brutal, brutal inning from your top 3 hitters.
  8. Yeah, and probably partially a function of them winning 5 of the last 6 against the Crew. I think they have a more balanced roster. Is it better? Probably depends on how you feel about Wong and Taylor and Cain. And is Yelich this guy this year? Or something with a bit more SLG than he's shown so far. The Reds bullpen melts down more often than this board...if this fanbase had to follow that it would constantly wonder why it couldn't come up with a decent reliever or two like the Brewers who seem to have no-name relievers come out of their ears and dominate year after year after year... Yup. Grass is always greener. Like someone said the other day, their pen has looked better lately, but it's a big glaring hole (especially in the 9th inning) in an otherwise solid roster.

  10. Reds should have an easier schedule down the stretch. Just for some perspective, though, Five Thirty Eight has the Crew at 75% to win division. Reds at 16. That projection takes rosters into account, I believe, though obviously not any deadline adds. Today will impact it some too, of course. In my baseball experience, I'm always most nervous at like a 4-8 game lead. Feels big enough that you have a ton of cushion, but it's still far from certain. Feels like there's a lot to lose, I guess, and to me that goes a long way into me underrating the Brewers chances...
  11. Brewers are 5-7 against the Reds, and 1-5 in the last six. I have a hard time seeing that continue. Brewers will be able to go Woodruff, Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta in the next 4. If I had to bet, seems like a 5-game lead is most likely after that Cincy series just given baseball. But I'd say it's more likely the Brewers take 3 or 4 here than the other way around. Bottom line for me: This division should be close roster-wise. I'd even say the Cubs and Cards have underperformed. Brewers have overperformed, probably the Reds too by a hair. I REALLY want tomorrow's game, but it's still a long 71 games here. I expect the division will stay more within range of 3 or 5 than the 7 or 8 we juiced it up to after doing exactly what we should against the soft part of the schedule.
  12. Don't have a lot of faith in Hiura, Bradley, Reyes...ifnthe Crew is gonna win, figure it may have to be in extras. Hope they can pull it out in regulation.
  13. The umpiring has been bad, but the offense is what's costing tbe Brewers. One run in 16 (going on 17) innings vs. this lineup won't cut. Still, I'd rather be the Brewers than the Reds. Minimum of a 4 game lead at the break, with Wong hopefully healthy.
  14. This is a big one for the Crew. Should have the advantage on paper, and would be nice to put some pressure on the Reds with Woody going tomorrow. I think the offense gets to Gutierrez. They've seen him a lot this year. Of course, Freddy worries me against the Reds for some reason, but hopefully that's just me having a selective memory about one of his first starts in Cincy...
  15. Didn't hit, and the few times they did, the Reds made plays. Miley was very sharp. Frustrating, but the Reds were better tonight. It's been a great first half for the Brewers. Getting the next two would be amazing. A split is good. Losing both not a disaster.
