  1. Yes, solid effort from Lauer; great close out there from Richards. And the offense just keep coming at them...who would have thought we'd see that in April and early May?
  2. I know Wong's been hurt a good chunk of the year, but he must have shared some Cardinal Devil Magic with Jace Peterson. And even though we know Taylor as a decent prospect, he must look like Devil Magic to other teams too. So, go Wong. Fun guy to have on your team.
  3. That would be one of the big perks of working in a front office: having access to all kinds of proprietary organizational analytics.
  4. Na… he’s getting some work by simply getting hot in the pen. The way that guys are dropping like flies with injuries, I would rather win comfortably with a fresh Hader for tomorrow. Yeah, I'm totally fine with him not coming in tonight. I hope he doesn't. My (minor) thought is just the question: how much does getting loose tax an arm? I wonder how the team calculates this. I suppose the rough way is to just assign "points" to usage--.5 pts for getting loose, 1 point for anything up to 20 pitches, etc., with the rule being a guy sits if he's over a certain score. I imagine the team is much more sophisticated with how they chart, but I'm always curious about varying definitions of workload.
  5. I don't really like Hader warming up and sitting down so much, maybe for no reason. If they have him getting loose tonight, hope he just gets an inning, save situation or no.
  6. McCalvy jas Burnes saying left knee "jammed up" a bit after cleat caught the rubber. Burnes says he is "not too concerned at all." Good news. Now hopefully Wong's injury is minor too.
  7. Kind of seems like maybe there would be better options than Bettinger, but I guess if he can't handle this, he can't be on the roster.
  8. Yeah, timing is as good as it gets for something like this, I suppose. Hopefully he only ends up missing a start or two and can work back slowly.
  9. Cubs haven't exactly been defensive wizards either today. Just a wild game already. Glad to be in it.
  10. Wow. Got out of it. Given the double-switch, I'm guessing they wanted 4 outs from Cousins. Wonder if they stick with that. Hopefully a snowman makes the decision easy
  11. Yeah...not looking good here. Missed call and struggling to locate. Now tge bad matchup.
  12. Glad Cousins gets a high-leverage shot here. Did not like Contreras v. Suter...
  13. Assuming CC is going to try Suter for two here. We'll see. Quick outs help, bit not sire I want him against the middle part of the order...
  14. Normally, I'd be all in for this, but it is Williams' changeup. Just didn't throw it well.
  15. I love this matchup for the finals. Two hot goaltenders. Canadian drought vs. potential repeat. Fun stuff. I'd love for the Canadian drought to end, but I'd really prefer it be a Western team...still, the Habs have been fun all playoffs.
  16. Yeah, when 100% of your important innings are going to feature Freddy, Woodruff, Burnes, Hader, and the lesser combo of Williams and Boxberger, likely with Houser or Richards or hopefully a good Strickland or even Suter serving as bridge, you're in good shape. The pitching stable is going to be very good. If this team gets there, it'll be built right.
  17. I don't watch a ton of NBA (lots of college hoops and international competition), but Atlanta sure looks like a team that's really going to have to scrap to stay close. Bucks look a lot better on both ends of the floor. Seems like Huerter is really going to have to shoot for them to be in it. Young will get his, but between the offensive glass and the Bucks' ability to score inside, it looks to me like any win by Atlanta will be either a squeaker where the Bucks shoot poorly or a game where the Hawks get hot. Bucks looked just okay in that half, and ATL had to really fight to stay in it.
