  1. Is Williams unavailable? I cam see why CC trusts Box more than Williams right now, but, man....with the runner at 2nd....
  2. Nice start to this stretch where the Brewers really have to turn it on. Two wins. Two days off for Hader. Back to the top of the rotation. Probably Scherzer tomorrow, right? So, glad to have a series win. Hope Woody can be just as good as he's been.
  3. Could not ask for a better Game One, really. Set up for the sweep. Hope Anderson brings it, and they can get to Lester.
  4. During this three-year playoff run, it feels like the Brewers have had great depth. Lots of 1-2 WAR players, plus an MVP and a lockdown stable of BP arms. This year, though I think you are right on. The roster is very superficial.
  5. Hahaha. All the talk about moving runners (myself included), and the 3-run home run strikes. 6 outs! Williams! Hader! Let's go! Also, I will add my name to the Adames bandwagon.
  6. While I certainly don’t disagree, I’m not sure baseball on the whole is a very good product right now. It’s sort of amazing that we’re going to go through this dead ball situation coming off a year of pandemic-ball, and then we’ll get to follow contentious labor negotiations next offseason that will include the players being locked out in December and probably worse come the spring. If you wanted to write a textbook on how to kill a sport I would recommend asking Rob Manfred to pen the foreword. Yup. Baseball is a mess right now. And it will likely get worse before it gets better...
  7. Yeah, I think the Brewers are exactly the kind of team that needs to embrace small ball. You don't need a lot of runs to win. Plus, your hitters are bad. Need to give them the chance to drive in runs with outs. This is the time where it's like go on a big run or really start to look at cashing in. I'm not at all confident in this roster to be good enough...
  8. Kind of funny given Freddie Freeman's comments a while back about MP being something like a "poorly lit Little League field" or whatever. Hope Adames keeps it up. He's off to nice start as a Brewer on all sides of the ball and seems to have also brought some nice energy.
  9. 23-23 and hanging tough. After the SD series, the 35 or so games until the ASB should really tell the tale. Lots of series against teams contenders need to beat. Would like to go 22-13 or so.
  10. Always leery of trading with the Rays, but, as someone who think any real value you can get for bullpen parts is usually worth it. Adames should provide some nice value. The Fangraphs article sums it up nicely. Both teams fill an immediate need in a low-risk way.
  11. Check swings are an illogical part of baseball. It is a guess. No one can see that in real time. Can't do anything about it. It's every other bad umpiring call that needs fixing. I'll be honest: I don't understand the case against the electronic zone at this point. It seems like just having the zone consistent across baseball would be better for everyone, even if it comes with some weirdness.
  12. You could totally make the case to use Hader as a situational lefty there too. If he's only going one, let him get the one you absolutely have to have.
  13. Salvy Perez running makes that play just that much worse. There is not a more stress-free throw from SS than that one. Of course, odds are it doesn't matter. Can't win if you don't score.
  14. It really is amazing this team is 21-20. Great pitching keeps you in games (and the offense can very rarely bail you out). Coming in to the season, I though the Crew needed to hang in there through a tough first 50 games and then rack up wins from late May through the AS break. Lately, I'm thinking it's going to be tough to get a big streak given the big gap between BP tiers, but maybe Yelich getting healthy can help make up for that a bit.
  15. Will the Brewers hit a grand slam this year? I am inclined to say no. How often does a team go a year without one? Quick Google brings no luck.
  16. Wong is pretty disciplined, but I think maybe you want a better one on 3-1? The biggest thing I notice offensively is zone discipline. I don't have the numbers, but it really seems like this team takes a lot of middle-middle pitches and hacks a whole lot out of zone.
  17. I'm more confident in the Brewers scoring 5 than I am holding the Braves under that number....but maybe both will happen.
  18. A whole lot of hard contact. Remember when the offense scored 9 runs in two straight in Saint Louis?
