  1. Threw the pitch to Rendon he needed to throw to Turner. Still, a good 3 frames. One bad pitch. Let's get it back and then put up a 0!

  3. Inning by inning and out by out. That's how these games are run, and I see no reason why our pitchers can't put up one scoreless frame at a time. We won't and shouldn't be favored, but bullpen-ing is a powerful strategy for a reason, and we've basically been doing it for two years. If there's some advantage, it's that we'll hopefully be more ready to throw 1, 2, 3 innings at a time than anyone on the Nats staff, especially Strasburg.
  4. What about his 31 years in the Angels system? I know not all of that was spent in LA, but he's got some pretty good connections in SoCal Yeah, could be. I guess the only thing I'd really bet on is that he'll be managing somewhere.
  5. I'm glad we lost the last game of the year. That means our 12th straight win will not only bring free burgers but a WS title too!
  6. Given Maddon's PA connections, I would say Philly is the most likely scenario. But whi knows? Lots of Midwestern folks would have a hard time saying no to the good part of SoCal.
  7. If we ever take a lead, I am hoping it is Perez for the save. Of course, I think CC "respects the game" too much (no judgment).
  8. Ted Thompson ruined football for me. I still check the box scores and watch the Badgers but I gave up on the NFL. I think the physics of football and Chris Borland ruined football for me, but I still catch the Badgers occasionally. It's baseball and college hoops for me.
  9. I thought 87 might win the Central this year. This roster getting 89-90 is squeezing just about every win out of it. Turns out the Cards won 91. Good for them. They took the season series 10-9, and that will be the difference if we hang on (even if we don't).
  10. The best way to do the WC that I've heard is to make WC2 beat WC1 in a double-header, College World Series style. Benefits us that the weaker team over 162 only needs to win one. Woodruff/Lyles/Suter/Big Pom/Hader. Sounds like 27 outs to me!
  11. After a long-time lurking and posting on the site, it's kind of wonderful that we've reached a place where meaningful baseball on the last day feels like a disappointment to some. I'd rather be starting play tied too, but we've got at least two games left before a long winter, and I am going to enjoy them either way!
  12. This is a playoff team. For the second year in a row. Sorry, but, as much as tonight was frustrating, it's not like we lost something we had in the bag. The Cardinals are the ones blowing it. We are just not making them pay. I will take this over 2014 any day. We are probably (though not definitely) going to have to win a one-game playoff in Washington. Enjoy it. Even if it is just one game, it is October baseball!
  13. Except didn't the Rockies get a late run in that one? Off JJ? No, we won 6-0. JJ gave up a couple of base runners and Hader cleaned it up. Guess I forgot too!
  14. Yeah, so Wieck has pitched in a lot of big spots the last two weeks. He wasn't good tonight, bit Maddon trusted him consistently down the stretch. Deliberate sabatage is not sustainable on the evidence.
  15. To be fair, this strike zone is nuts. It's almost like they are trying to negate the Coors effect by gerrymandering the zone.
